He didn’t save Rey out of selfish love like Anakin wanted to do with Padme, but he did it because he loves Rey and knew he would die. He did it because he wanted her safe.

It was required for each of his species to do so. The Cerean male:female birth ratio was 1:3, so he had four wives and many kids. He only brought them up to tell Anakin that he doesn’t care about their deaths and that Anakin needed to stop worrying about the fact that he might’ve killed Obi-Wan.

Mundi's species had very low male birth counts for some reason. To help preserve their species the Jedi of this species were allowed to have multiple wives, but Mundi did indeed not feel any emotion towards them, to him they were probably little more then booty calls.
