@@RaggedyPackAnakin's descent into darkness was well portrayed. Because some Jedi never completely loved him, didn't respect him, didn't trust him, didn't take him seriously and even despised him. As a child before Obi-Wan started teaching him, he was hated and psychologically bullied by other children "Anakin is a slave to his feelings" and that was only because of envy because he was much more gifted and skilled than them. . . .And many other things and sufferings he and his padawan, Ashoka Tano, the Jedi like to cause. Yoda during the Clone Wars, he met the spirit of Darth Bane in Sitt's tomb, which is created by the rule of two. And later in his visions he saw Anakin becoming Darth Vader and didn't do anything about it because I thought it wasn't worth it. Anakin was a slave all his life - Tatuine, Jedi, Love, Dark Side. He became a father figure to Qui-gon Jinn, during his stay in the temple he was psychologically bullied and called by others "Anakin slaves to his own feelings", he lost his mother, the Jedi never married him all the time and without proper evidence he accused Ashoka and caused her to leave and finally he was afraid of losing Padmé. The only and worst support given the events was Palpatine who was a fatherly substitute for Anakin from the beginning. When he used Mace Windu's hand and after killing the Jedi he was already in the dark as the dark side itself showed him to the planet Mortis The One Son. On Mustafar, Padme almost got him from the dark side, but Obi-Wan discovered him and screwed it up. Anakin "Vader" built his castle on Mustafar and thanks to the two sbosobs he tried to revive Padmé but he could not see it due to the fact that Luke and Leya were already born, they were the only ones preventing it with their existence. Too bad he didn't find "Word between Wolrds" on the planet Lothal. He would create an alternate Reality or go through all of history. ;) . . . You have to find out about the lost 20 Jedi like Count Dooku, about the fates of Jedi with the ability to see the future, young apprentices who were not taken by any Jedi masters to learn, who showed little talent for the force and were not shown to the temple which in some cases was quite drastic, . .. Blinded by ego, aronance, pride, absolute help to people and not following the path of forces. Honor to the exceptions and one of the true Jedi was Master Fey. The Jedi and the Fallen Jedi (Sith) have betrayed the memory and message of their common ancestors of the Je'daii Order by their actions and the endless battles of their Civil War. 😊 May the force be with you. And may you lead the force. 🖐️

Count Dooku did legit want to eliminate the corruption of the Senate and help the people of the Republic. Sidious lied to him trying to make him believe he had the same outlook, which wasn't true. Sidious (Palpatine) just wanted power and control, but once Dooku started down the Dark side it turned him more and more corrupt which based on his original motivation is actually quite ironic. But Dooku never actually did FULLY become a Sith Lord. Anakin embraced the Dark side WAY more than Dooku ever did

Lore tidbit for the amidala thing: Padme's birthname is padme nabierre. When you're elected queen of naboo, you're given a new "royal" surname, which in padme's case was amidala - her successor in attack of the clones was queen jamillia, but it's not clear whether or not that's her royal surname or her first name. This surname thing happens around the same time you get body doubles, and you & your body doubles are trained to use the kind of robotic queen accent & posture while in queen mode.

Gotta say, every single detail I learn about the monarchy of Naboo makes me want, like, either a book (if there are books that go into detail beyond the novelizations I need to get them) or a comic or a show or something just set in Naboo. Maybe a "Tales of the Jedi"-type show but focusing on Padme's reign as queen or something. It's already incredibly unique that it's a DEMOCRATIC ABSOLUTE MONARCHY like that's crazy, but then with all the body doubles and new names and everything, it's such a wonderfully fresh take on the concept of monarchy that a lot of sci-fi/fantasy doesn't really have
@jaernihiltheus7817
@jaernihiltheus7817 Жыл бұрын
@@dwell7315 yeah, according to episode 2 they even tried to amend the constitution to let padme rule indefinitely (or at least longer), but she refused to do so as she felt she served her time well and she didn't think it'd be right to extend her rule (this is in direct contrast to palpatine who used emergency powers to extend his chancellorship, since their characters are supposed to be dramatic parallels - the angel and the devil of republic politics). But anyways, yeah - naboo is incredibly interesting and fleshed out and its ashame more people don't really seem to be invested in it. It's by far the most fleshed out planet from the movies alone. EDIT: Oh, and the handmaidens/body doubles also seem to get renamed upon selection. All of padme's handmaidens have similar names as her. I don't remember all of their names (you can look them up if you want), BUT the one that blow up at the start of episode 2 is called "Sade", and i believe she's also the one that padme switches with a lot in episode 1.

Anakin's dreams were his own, as Palpatine had no idea about the Pregnancy. Anakin's mind was only on the what, not the how and when, so Palpatine couldn't sense the specifics. Padme always wore large dresses, so she kept it secret easily... until she only had her nightgown on when Obi-Wan arrived.

About Anakin going extreme, Palpatine did tell him to show no mercy to be strong enough with the Dark Side to save Padme. His immediate desperation to serve Palpatine and then killing the Jedi, reach a breaking point once he reached the Separatists. He's snapped as he's killing them, then blank and consumed by the darkness once he's finished. And the aftermath shows with how manic Anakin is once Padme shows up.

I have my list posted on one of these and I will not repeat it as I think some find it scandalous lmfao. I have been with Star Wars from the beginning and I remember just as much angst over the prequels as there has been on the sequels for different reasons as the angst depends on the political social flavor of a society at that moment in time and it changes with time our ideals in the 70s are certainly not what they are in the 2020s. I welcome every addition to the universe, and I allow everyone to like what they like So, in a way every Star Wars movie when it comes out is my favorite because it's another addition to something that brings so much joy to a world that sorely needs it and has now for decades. The magic is in the connection we feel as we watch I hope it continues for decades to come.

My interpretation of Anakin suddenly switching to complete evil is that he let the darkside fully consume him. He was like the quiet kid in school who got bullied and let his emotions all build up until he finally snapped. So when Anakin went on a killing spree he was using his fear, hate, anger, etc. which is what Count Dooku said he didn't use, but should, earlier in the film. Once someone gives into the darkside, it takes control and makes you do things you probably don't agree with. Those are my thoughts on it at least. Love the reactions and discussions!

And then Luke seemed to have the power to not let the dark side get to him. I dont know what was different,perhaps a more shielded upbringing. Even though Owen didnt let him do what he wanted, he gave him perhaps a more secured environment to grow up in. He could nag and complain about his stepparents,but he was still more safe and had less "trauma" in his early life

Naboo has an elective monarchy Queenship. So basically Padme Amidala was Queen of Naboo for X years and when she was done with her ruling period term another Queen is elected and Padme (cause she handled the blockade of Movie 1) was loved and talented and thus then elected as a representative Senator of Naboo in the Parlament of the Republic in the capital, Coruscant. So we see several Queens in the movies. The one Queen on the funeral was serving as Queen at the time, and is in "state funeral" of Padme Amidala because Padme is a famous politician/personality in Naboo.

45:48 Funny you should ask actually. Vader is Dutch for father. Sideous is very similar to sidious, part of insidious, which means among other things: developing so gradually as to be well established before becoming apparent. Rather apt in this case. A maul was a tool for driving wedges as well as a verb meaning to handle roughly. The Darth part is literally Dark Lord. So Darth Vader is Dark Lord Daddy. Nice one Lucas.

That's why Palpatine stood there, chill, relaxed, he knew 100% Anakin wouldn't strike him. In fact he felt that Anakin was almost turned to the Dark Side. Just like Baylan Skoll knew that Sabine wouldn't destroy the map and wouldn't attack him. She is so attached to Ezra that she'll do anything. Similar, very close situations.

The young Jedi who attacks the Storm Trooper after Anakin's attack in the Jedi Temple is played by George Lukas' son. Also, George Lukas himself plays a guy in the foyer of the bubble theater where Palpatine tells Anakin about Darth Plaegious.

Really great discussion about everything. ANAKIN is So powerful, Palpatine needs to keep him off balance all the time by appealing to his emotions, he's already in horrible pain all the time, feeling guilt and shame and his world view is approaching that of Palpatine. Anakin has never known a functioning democracy that was not under the control of Palpatine.

2 pivotal things that should be reminded of from Episode 1 TFM 1. You guys talked about the music. The main theme of TFM is Duel of the Fates. The ending battle between Darth Maul and Qui Gon was to determine Anakin's fate. Based on "the prophecy" whomever won the duel would dictate how Anakins life will be impacted. Had Qui Gon defeated Maul, he'd be trained by him and raised more properly. However, Maul defeated him and Obi Wan inherited the responsibility of looking after Anakin, which is the worst of the two outcomes. Therefore leading Anakin down the alternate, bad path. DUEL OF THE FATES: Anakin's fate 2. At the end of TFM, Palps mentioned watching Anakins career with great interest. (Foreshadow) That was the first hint of his intentions. It ties into the fact that Anakin (space Jesus) was born from "you know who" Palps have always been in the background pulling the strings waiting to get close to Anakin once he came to age. It further solidifies he actually did create life... From the story he told Anakin in Episode 3. He planted the dreams into his mind, and lied about saving a person from death. He knew how to create life already. As you guys mentioned, it's too many layers. I could go on and on. Last thing I'll say is for a first time viewer I can understand why Anakin's turn to the dark side seem rushed. One thing to take into consideration is how the story built up him and Palps relationship. He did what he said, which is watch Anakin's career with great interest (The foreshadowing) from TFM. The turn to the darkside wasn't as fast as we may have thought. Palps befriended Anakin real early and was manipulating him. Between the dreams and persuasion, Anakins main goal of saving Padme was an easy choice. And he was willing to do whatever it took, including going to the darkside. So basically, it wasn't a sudden thing... It was him turning anyway. He just needed a final push to do so. Like a ticking time bomb.

Yeah so the question he asked is related to how long Anakin and Padme haven’t seen each other. Since Anakin and the 501 were involved in the outer rim sieges which is shown in the Clone Wars series, he was not on Coruscant which is why Igli asked how long has it been since they had seen each other. Jar Jar and C3PO are comic reliefs. They are necessary for the story plot to feel as though it's not just all about war but also personality. Not many people understand this, especially people who are apathetic, prone to the dark side they are.

I found out recently that the only reason they had the high ground was because Hayden and someone else I forget who I think he was like a writer or something for this movie but they had places next to each other while filming so they walked to a diner together and it was on a hill and Hayden hated it so they made Anakin get defeated by the high ground

In the novel Dark Lords of the Sith (which i believe is legacy nowadays) they reveal that Plaguis does attempt to create a Sifh Chosen One, the Sith'ari, by manipulating the midichlorians, but he feels the Force itself resisting his efforts and believes he's failed. This does coincide with Anakin's conception, but Anakin is conceived by the Force in opposition to what Plaguis is attempting to do. In any case, Palpatine had already decided that he himself was the Sith'ari and sets in motion his plans to kill Plaguis, which he does just prior to (or off-screen during) Phantom Menace. A Sith apprentice taking a secret apprentice of their own is quite common as they prepare to kill their master (as we seen in the Clone Wars cartoon). Just as it's common for their master to groom replacement apprentices when they find someone stronger than the one they have already.

So what a lot of people miss about Anakin’s fall is the type of relationships he has with everyone. Many people think that Obi-won and Anakin have a father-son relationship, but they are too close in age for that. That’s why Obi-won says “You were my brother.” They are more brothers than they are father-son and Master-apprentice. The person that ended up fulfilling that “father” role for Anakin was Palpatine. Who do young men generally go to when they are in trouble or need advice? Most will go to their father or father figure for guidance. So after he attacks Mace, he’s essentially asking his father to help him and give him guidance on how to get out of a situation he doesn’t think he can return from.

The Song Dual of Fates, which is what plays during the Anakin/Obiwan fight, also plays in Episode 1 and I think it has a more suttle meaning. The outcome of the qui gon jinn/Darth Maul fight, determined the fate of Anakin. If Qui Gon won, he would have been there to mentor and train Anakin appropriately, but if Maul won, then dark side would take him. Interesting take on the music, iconic how it plays in the end.

If you listen closely anakins heartbeat stops just before the mask is put on. And as padme dies at the same time anakins heart starts up again. Then palpatine somehow knows she was dead??. Palps used the power to save life on VADER by stealing padmes life force and giving it to Vader to save him.

When it comes to how quickly Anakin falls after cutting of Windu's hand, i think that's perhaps one of those things you need to have watxhed the ep4,5,6 first to appreciate. How many times do Yoda and Kenobi tell Luke that one step to the dark side is enough to doom you forever with no chance of redemption? And Anakin has been told this over and over and over by almost everyone he knows for over a decade. Ir's been drummed into his head that one moment of weakness and the dark side will dominate you forever. The Jedi enforced their own self-fulfilling prophecy in a way.

Palpatine was the voices in Anikan's head, & the root of Anikan's disturbing Dreams, once Palpatine was able to start grooming Anakin..., his demise was inevitable. That's what makes this tragedy play, so very sad & In the end.. Anikan Felt the only person he can rely on is Himself. " I want to be the most powerful & rule the galaxy my way " ... Well Anakin, be careful what you wish for....

Anakin was very gifted in seeing the future, I don’t think palps put those dreams into his head bc they were actually visions of the future and like the father stated in TCW no future is set in stone. I just think palps sensed Anakins frustration baring in mind he’s known him since he was a kid and Anakin in the past has vented to palps about many things. Palps just used it against him to manipulate him

Here is Anakin's age from Episodes 1 to 6: The Phantom Menace: 9 years old Attack of the Clones: 19 years old Revenge of the Sith: 22 years old A New Hope: 41 years old The Empire Strikes Back: 44 years old Return of the Jedi: 45 years old. There is a ten-year gap between The Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones, a three-year gap between Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith, a nineteen-year gap between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope, a three-year gap between A New Hope and The Empire Strikes Back, and a one-year gap between The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. Anakin spent the first nine years of his life as a slave, the next thirteen years as a Jedi, and twenty-three years after that as Darth Vader.

So a few things to say but first a discaimer: This is my favorite Star War. So my thoughts: 1. The movie really doesnt do enough to convey just how over the edge Anakin is at this point. As an example ill point to is Palpetine's story on Plagues. After that story, Anakin the "Jedi", responds first to hearing of the Dark Side power of life is to ask how to do it. In his obsession he glided right past all those red flags and even desired it. All that to say is that by episode 3, Anakin is just barely stopping himself from his own impulses. It's only his Jedi upbringing that is helping him keep those in check but that upbringing also causes him an immense amount of stress between his secret marriage, his differring views on the war, (in his view) the Jedi telling him to sentence his wife to die, and the continual evidences of Jedi hypocrisy like twlling him to lie and spy on the government. By the time this movie starts, hes almost already to the point wear his jedi upbringing is wholly opposed to his fears and desires and moral codes. So that change over really isnt that sudden. Imo the movie doesnt do enough to convey that. 2. While it looks like vader goes from desperate ex-jedi to immidiately prostrating himself to a Sith Lord: its really not as straightforward as it seems. They make it clear that Vader full planned to betray Palpetine, likely as soon as he learned how to save Padme. Vader's whole desire is that power, that only Palpatine has and will only teach as long as he's willing to teach, which Palpatine explicitly said he would teach to him. Putting 2 and 2 together, Vader needed Palpatine to teach him but full on planned to kill him after. But that's the problem & manipulation of the Sith Way: That IS the Sith Way. Unlike the Jedi, the relationship between a Sith Master and Apprentice is by design one fueled by absolute hatred for each other with the master constantly testing the Apprentice with assassins and unreasonable demands and the like and the Apprentice constantly trying to straddle the line of using the master to learn more and killing the master out of a combination of hatred and revenge for the abuses. There by the Sith grow with each set of Sith. The only way for an apprentice to become a master is by becoming better and killing the master. So that scene is a trick. Vader did not kneel in honesty and loyalty and full planned to betray Palpatine... but that's the trick: that is The Way of The Sith. Vader full on committed to the Sith by planning to betray the Sith. Lose-Lose Situation.
