Huge improvement but it doesn’t redeem the series as a whole. Where was this writing for the last 2 episodes? Some of the things this episode could’ve happened last episode. Like Obiwan and Reva having a conversation.. or parts of the flashback etc. I would’ve liked some of these moments to have been better teased or set up in prior episodes. Also I’m growing beyond tired of them rehashing things we’ve seen before. This whole episode felt like a repeat of the end of The Last Jedi. Rebels held up in a bunker, bad guys show up, but the rebels narrowly escape out the back.. like come on..

there’s some cool stuff happening, this episode definitely has the most stuff i’ve enjoyed in it but man… there’s still something off with this show, a lot of it is executed so poorly, whether its how it’s directed, the choreography, the CGI, the editing, it never fully comes together, at least for me ;/ and im not a hater, i wanted to love this show more than any other SW related thing since 2015 but im just not feeling it. I think we can all agree that this could’ve been so much better.

It’s the scale and budget. Star Wars just doesn’t work in the television format outside of the Mandolorian but even in that show some episodes feel under budget. We’re so used to the films epic scale and CGI that seeing Star Wars with budget constraints, you tend to feel it being “off” at least that’s my take.

My only gripe with the episode, was when the ocean of Storm Troopers was moving in, I was like, "Why doesn't someone throw a grenade in there?" Then later when Tala is making her final stand I was like, "You'd better not blow yourself up with a grenade that would have come in really handy a few minutes ago..." And then she did.

I thought it would have been way more interesting if Reva was evil. I figured she would have been what she is because it was the most obvious choice but I think it would have been cooler if when she had said the line she was taken from her family she was referring to how the Jedi take children from their families. I think it would have been cool if she was a dark side sympathizer who took the opportunity of order 66 to unleash her rage and resentment at being taken from her real family and inducted into the Jedi order

It feels pretty obvious that they're leading up to Reva actually figuring out that Luke Skywalker AND Leia Organa are Anakin Skywalker's biological children (Because why the fuck is Senator Organa just chilling with moisture farmers?), she won't live long enough to tell anyone about that, but she will live just long enough to tell Owen Lars that not only is Anakin alive, he kills *children* and has the highest body count in the Empire. And in Reva's honor, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Owen Lars, and Bail Organa come up with the cover story that, “A young Jedi named Darth Vader, who was a pupil of [Obi-Wan's] until he turned to evil, helped the Empire hunt down and destroy the Jedi Knights. He betrayed and murdered [Luke's] father.” Credits.

@maxwell9211
@maxwell9211 2 жыл бұрын
I would say either before or during. I think it’s a salient point that anakin didn’t actually get a lot of the important lessons of the philosophy of the Jedi because he was essentially thrown into a war immediately and so there was a more martial focus. While the flashback does take place during a fight scene, obi wants lesson is more esoteric than purely battle strategy. It’s one of the reasons it was relatively easy to persuade anakin to the dark side. Analysis aside, obi-wan refers to Anakin as a padawan and he was given knighthood practically right after the battle of geonosis

To me… TO ME, I think in a world where Jedi Fallen Order hadn’t been created, this show might’ve been really good. But some of the story beats (and even direct 1-to-1 shots) feel too similar to that game. And with almost all the MCU and Star Wars shows that have aired prior, I’m already accepting a finale that won’t stick the landing.

The guys complained last ep that the set up for this ep sucked, which i agree, in that reva setting a tracker is pretty lazy and boring. They hoper there would be more to how they found them, there wasn't. It was a good episode for moments, but the story continues to be a standard cat and mouse story, nothing special, and i think the guys plus most people are overlooking that due to 'cool moments'. I agree with 7/10 from IGN and actually to me the last two episodes were alot better. And the fact obi left Reva to fight vader alone. Nah.
@paidhits1037
@paidhits1037 2 жыл бұрын
Love the contrast in this episode. When he was training with Obi-Wan he was so focused on winning and using his saber in the duel he didn’t use the force really and it was his undoing. But with the Reva fight he didn’t even touch his saber and used nothing but the force until the end. You can see how he’s grown with the force and learned since then. And on top of that I love how Vader is just super strong giving me Starkiller vibes with the ship pull and tearing it apart. Barely broke a sweat fighting Reva and didn’t even touch his own saber. Badass. Best episode so far

Owen is a fighter so he's not going to be the one to convince Reva it will most likely be Beru to talk sense into her. But if you look at the story they changed canon by having Leia be involved in the show in the first place and have Bail openly commit treason by contacting Obi Wan. I definitely see them ignoring this fact at the end of the show. A directing goof I didn't like about this episode is that we don't see enough of the rebels get shot by the stormtroopers during the fight. In the aftermath we see a lot of corpses but during the fight maybe 1 or 2 get shown to be killed when it should have resembled the opening scenes of A New Hope.

Disney Star Wars has a bit of a history with trying to push sentimental value through trying to explain the origin of shit that doesn't REALLY need to be explained, or showing shit that doesn't need to be shown. Those moments feel more like fanservice than actual plot points, and they never really seem to go anywhere, it's cheap, convoluted, frustratingly self-aware, unearned, and it's lazy writing. Like with Han Solo's dice, or Anakin's Lightsaber... they're just kind of beating you over the head with the nostalgia stick, in the hopes of distracting the audience from criticizing the story. But... hey, did we just watch "General" Kenobi directly influence Rebel Alliance's siege defense protocol hence-forth? Ben's sacrifice on the Death Star. The Battle of Hoth. The Battle of Crait. It's not heavy handed about it, but this is definitely the birth of the Ben Kenobi character we see in the Original Trilogy. "You can't win. But there are alternatives to fighting."

listening to this made me realize that I think the show included some scenes straight from mass shootings. When Reva said she hid with the dead bodies, that's happened many times in these shootings. And when Ned bent over to protect Tala as the laser shots were flying in, as well. Probably more that I'm missing. But that definitely hits home and I also think that's why they had the warning at the beginning of the show.

Man, if this is your favorite Disney SW thing than you probably stan the prequels hard because despite the show being really fun, the direction and visual effects and sound design are very clearly worse than Mandalorian in almost every aspect. Where Mando ends an episode and I’m excited to see where the story goes, Obi-Wan ends an episode and I’m worried about where they’re taking it and I hate that feeling.

I get everyone has their own reasons they watch Star Wars for. Some love the stories. Some love the space action. Some love the Light Saber fights. So not everyone needs a super well done story to be in on it. But this episode really really was a blunder storywise. Just to keep it somewhat short, Leia being the one who is doing the wiring ordeal cuz somehow no adult can fit in a vent, Obi legit after hearing 3rd Sister's story on why she wants revenge and how she survived and all that he straight up creates a plan to help her then ditches her ass to what should have been die to Darth Vader, just doesn't feel like something Obi Wan would do. Then the frickin communication between him and Organa... "we said we wouldn't communicate, but your silence is starting to worry me." then he proceeds to give all the valuable information to luke in that WITHOUT KNOWING IF OBI IS ALIVE, and this is all done to continue the plot. such a letdown cuz they do action good/great but the story is a mess.

I love the original trilogy. I do not hate the prequel's or the newest extension of the Skywalker saga was not the worst thing in the world ( although the Rise of Skywalker is pretty bad, but at least there are a couple cool scenes ) I even like Mandalorian ( especially season 2 ) and Book of Boba Fett, but I just can not get into the Obi Wan show I was all excited for it too, but it just seems flat and boring there are never even any real stakes which is often my issue with prequels. Young Leia was the best thing about this series, but I have never been less concerned with seeing the last episode of a series with characters from a story that I care about.

I'm surprised people liked this episode. This is honestly one of the weakest ones. *SPOILERS* The Stormtroopers not being able to hit basically ANYTHING while walking forward was beyond stupid. The fake-out with the 2nd ship was such a cliche and a lazy choice that ruined a cool moment 30 seconds before. The flashback made 0 sense to me. It CLEARLY showed Anakins anger way more clearly than the movies, and honestly if he had exhibited this kind of emotions, Obi should've dumped his ass.

If Qui Gon is so great, how come he couldn't get back up from being stabbed in the stomach? Seriously, this show is just off on a lot of levels for me. Tala dying was the worst part, I liked her well enough, but now there are no more stakes in this show for me to care about any of these characters. We know most of these characters live for the OT. Reva either dies or runs away at this point. Why does Disney like killing kids so much in this show?

the darth vader fight looked just like Steven Seagal fights in those martial arts recordings. he flicks his wrist and their opponent flips in the air. if any this proves Steven is a real badass and thats what true power looks like

I really don't think Carboni should be on these. He works for Star Wars. He seems great, but it's a clear bias, why would you do come to him for a review of Star Wars?

This show is not doing it for me tbh.. I mean... If you compare to even Netflix's Daredevil, this looks so bad! Story is bland and sloooow, set design is small and poor, and fight scenes feel like they were choreographed maybe once..

I gave the previous episode a pass but this one was so bad. It has a lot of cool looking moments that I wanted to love it, but it kept throwing a lot of nonsense. Especially Reva, what a disappointingly bad character.

I thought having a different director would improve Hayden’s acting but I found it to be just the same wooden acting. And reva finding obi wans “phone” has me livid. I predictes they were gonna do this before the show came out. They’re gonna have her show up at the Lars homestead and try to kidnap Luke which will retcon that Luke’s first time seeing a lightsaber was at that moment. And that’s something you can’t retcon. It has to be when Ben gives Luke his fathers lightsaber. He doesn’t know what it even is. This show has been tough to get through for me. And is anybody else annoyed with how Deborah chow shot the action? The shaky cam is so annoying and you can’t see what’s really going on. The vader stuff was great because it felt like authentic Vader.

I have to imagine that Hayden is directed to play the same character he played in the prequels, so the wooden performance is the essence of that character at that point. It's also not like we have seen much of him at all.

All they have to do is show the superficial stuff like Darth Vader using the force and Obi Wan holding a lightsaber and people instantly overlook all the tripe that the rest of the show has to offer.
