Anakin finding out Padmé is pregnant is one of the best scenes in the movie/franchise, like what! Hayden with very few lines, manages to run the gambit of shock, fear, happiness, and then back to fear again. That's a lot to display in only a couple seconds. It's the perfect reaction to such gigantic news.

Ok two things: 1. Mace Windu is bad??? Wtf? Strongly disagree lol. I think you guys have that actor recognition problem, where because the actor does generally play themselves to an extent, that's all you see. People have that problem with Keanu Reeves, they say Bill and Ted jokes all over the Matrix but never want to talk about Devil's Advocate. 2. Palatine doesn't need to put visions in Anakin's head. That's just Anakin seeing the future of his own choices. He's so powerful he can see the future, it's described in Phantom Menace that he can predict outcomes and despite his arrogance he figures a lot of things out on his own in Attack of the Clones. What's happening to Anakin in this movie is the same with Luke and Yoda-- Luke detects the suffering of his friends, and that motivates him to act. Both Luke and Anakin reject the advice given by their masters. It is said multiple times in the prequels, 'the dark side of the force shrouds everything.' Palpy is manipulating everyone with his mind, but also using the Force to sense who is vulnerable to his manipulation. And he has access to all the security interfaces everywhere, he has spies everywhere.
@jordancrossgrove8827

So as for Palpatine knowing about Padme in the opera scene, in the OT we saw first hand the sith both being able to read Luke’s thoughts. Vader literally learned about his daughter by reading his son’s mind. Anakin was surely thinking of the whole Padme situation constantly, even if it’s just in the back of his mind in the moment, it’s on his mind in a heavy way. Sidious could easily read his mind the same way Vader was able to in ROTJ. That’s always how I took it at least

What no one brings up with the "high ground" scene is: why did Anakin have to jump right there? Clearly he had some sort of control of the platform he was standing on, why not just move it a little bit left or right down the lava, and jump off there... it's utterly ridiculous non-sense.

why did he reply , "you underestimate my power!" then proceed to flip over obi wan instead of doing the more sensible thing? because he's arrogant with his new dark side powers and feels obi wan isnt a match for him. thought it was pretty obvious myself but ohwell

1:06:10 -- You're making a VERY good point, here - and bless their hearts, all of that stuff is in the deleted scenes. There's a whole B plot with Padme, Bail Organa, and Mon Mothma that ultimately leads to founding the Rebel Alliance (after exhausting diplomatic means to get Palpatine to peacefully rescind his emergency powers to no avail). And like Jimmy Smits, the actress who plays Mon Mothma in these deleted scenes is also the same actress that played her in Rogue One, Genevieve O'Reilly.

The 4.5 Hour "Siege of Mandalore Cut" includes the Live Action deleted scenes where the other half of Padme's scenes are included shows Palpatine telling Anakin that the Jedi are trying to overtake the Republic because they are hypocrites and Padme seeing that things might not turn back to normal after war. So it shows how Anakin is conflicted in all directions.

Ok since y’all didn’t address it I gotta say it. The thing that sucks the most about the “high ground” spot is that in Episode 1 Maul had the “high ground” on Kenobi and that didn’t matter at all. I stand by if it was the other way around it would have made more sense…there’s tons of ways to make that moment more poetic.

I really like this movie, despite all its flaws. Ideally I’d want it remade (or I guess done better originally) because there is so much rich substance they could’ve explored in the plot. And they do touch on it… in typical prequel fashion… which is the issue. The foundation of the plot and the beats it needs to cover - the fall of anakin and the rise of Vader and the subsequent rise of the empire - betrayal, genocide etc etc. soo much good stuff in there. Should’ve stuck with the original long ass cut rather than cramming it all in. I’d like to say it would’ve happened that way were it done now… but rise of skywalker felt crammed and stitched together too soooo. Revenge of the sith is still super high on my list though. Edit: Also that tie in game was legit. Played the shit out of it. And Lego Star Wars around the same time. Man, what a great time that was - takes me back.

What kind of weird hipster friends did Carboni have in 2005 that wouldn't want to go see Star Wars with him? No matter anyone's thoughts on the previous two movies, Star Wars fatigue wasn't a thing and I can remember the hype for this was pretty high. It seemed like every three years people forgot the quality of the movie before it and were excited for something new. That said, I saw this with my mom because she was the one that watched Star Wars movies with me as a kid, and I was in my early 20s when this came out. I felt like it was going to be the last one (haha. Whoops!) and wanted to see it with her. We also saw it on my birthday that first weekend, so there was all sorts of things tied to why we went together. It's funny because we really enjoyed it, but out of the pre-Disney movies this is the one I've watched the least amount. Maybe just three times. It's pretty weird.

35:11 - I do remember seeing General Grievous kill Master Shaak Ti in a deleted scene with unfinished vfx in the Special Features, and it *is* pretty sudden and kind of shocking, I'm personally glad that they took it out, even if it was only cut for time. @reflectionist
@reflectionist 2 жыл бұрын
1:48:55 - I really don't think that the movies were trying to imply any kind of love triangle - I think having an actual love triangle is an incredibly ridiculous idea. What I do like is the idea that Anakin is suspicious of Obi-Wan's intentions, as if he's trying to slide into Padme's DMs himself. The book talks about how he feels the echoes of their presence. He picks up on an emotion - secretive, fearful, rebellious, distrustful - but right before he comes to any kind of conclusion about Obi-Wan and Padme, he smells a lingering scent from the food that had been recently served. And that throws a wrench into his suspicions because neither of those two people would ever eat that particular soup. He straight up says that Padme hated it, and that Obi-Wan was allergic to it (funny memory of how they found that out). They weren't alone, but they weren't cool and relaxed. It's not until much later that Anakin realizes that he was standing amid the conception of his downfall, that it was treason he sensed, the birth of the Rebel Alliance. And he was thinking about himself.

Like I get how they made inquisitors from fallen order, but these young impressionable padawans could have saved them some steps right? Was it because they couldn't be corrupted or cus it would be to much work? Genuinely asking cus I've always wondered about this.

Holy freaking fuck, I am so ashamed of myself right now. I was thinking about that line in the crawl, "There are heroes on both sides," because that's a triple take. I watched the same 4 hour cut that Barrett did (includes ROTS, 2D Clone Wars, and Siege of Mandalore). It wasn’t perfect by any means, but it was very interesting to see all the events coincide. I’d recommend checking out a version without the 2D Clone Wars spliced in. ROTS and Siege of Mandalore feel tonally similar and match pretty well, so that’s a version I’d probably prefer on a rewatch
