I kinda like this Legends narrative where Order 66 was one of a list of executive orders that can be enacted for specific instances rather than a code phrase to activate the biochips. It gives the clones a moment of hesitation in executing the Jedi. "Is what we're doing right? We fought with them for years, granted there are probably some Jedi that have it coming but this one pulled my ass out of what would have been a slaughter."
@nifty13443 жыл бұрын
You know, CT-7281 really contemplated his actions at that moment, and the fragile life of the Jedi in front of him, what his morals were, what he was, and what he is now. He thought about the immorality about the action that he was about to do, and that how unjust and unfair it was, and how odd it was to execute the Jedi instead of detaining them, but since he played too many violent video games, he forgot all about that, and gunned down Ki Adi Mundi with the rest of the Galactic Marines.

actually not true. the empire brought stability and security to the galaxy. there was three reason Palpatine decided to create an Empire 1 being to stop a threat from the unknown region. 2 so he could have all the resources to master all aspects of the force and gain immortality. the 3rd is more of a side bonus and that was wiping out the Jedi.

I'm from America. We learn about the Holocaust in history classes. I actually went to the museum in DC on a trip in high school. It's something we know about; how much it matters to the average citizen is up to debate though. I think that apathy and general oblivion comes from being somewhat removed from the events, as a function of time. THIS VIDEO IS IMPORTANT, because it really, *really* puts the events in perspective. Most people have seen or at least know of the Star Wars universe, and a pop culture comparison is exactly the delivery system these type of historical things need. It's certainly not like looking in a mirror; saying that would be incredibly disingenuous. But this vid shows how "top down" the Holocaust was in 1930s-1940s Germany. Excellent work.

You do realize that Order 66 was in fact a religious persecution don't you? Overall I like this, but even Tarkin recognizes the whole affair was the state moving against a religion in a nutshell., as he says to Vader that Vader's religion has disappeared.
@chissstardestroyer4 жыл бұрын
@Sahil C That was good. Though, the Empire, at least according to Tarkin, is very close to the USSR, as both're basically atheistic in nature.

Andrew Gibson Hitler had a elite task force of bodyguards called "stormtroopers" and the top piece of Vader's helm is styled after the German helmet in WW2. So yes, from the beginning the empire was nazi Germany. Palpatine and hitler's rise to power is also nearly identical. In is just on an advanced galactic scale

Andrew Gibson Sheev Palpatine and Adolf Hitler. A vivid video about the inspiration in real life . Sends shudders down my spine. Especially the younglings.

Before this I always thought it was based of the USSR given the time period and certain parallels between the two. If you failed you were pretty much killed and large groups of individually weak machines and soldiers who gained success from their large numbers. I realize now that the Empire takes after both of them as during WW2 they had similarly brutal regimes.

Andrew Gibson yes gl did base it you look at the clones and stormtroopers and there extreme similaritys with them and the nazis
@comicsans16895 жыл бұрын
@Corrupt Angel Palpatine and Hitler's rise to power are a bit different actually. The only similarity is that both of them convinced the senate to vote themselves out of existence after in power for a while. And they both got rid of an ineffective and decadent Republic that turns a blind eye to suffering (look at the suffering under the Wiemar Republic and compare that to how the Outer Rim fared with the Republic in power) and replaced them with strong empires that restored order. They both had popular support. History brainlets should actually study history more before blindly spouting "everyone that I perceive as evil is literally Hitler", because it's lazy and cliche. Here's a more unique comparison: Palpatine and Julius Caesar. Both reformed a Republic into an Empire, had popular support, and were betrayed and killed by someone close to them (Vader and Brutus). Both of them came from a noble background while Hitler did not.

It really depends. Canon and legends have two different answers. In canon, the clones have microchips in their heads to make them turn on the Jedi. They're sleeper agents. in legends it's a lot darker. The clones are the ultimate soldier. They follow orders, that's all. Order 66 is an official order that translates to "Jedi turned traitor, kill on sight." This was meant to stop situations like Pong krell in canon or sora bolq in legends. Jedi who turned to the darlside. However, it was never meant to be used galaxy wide. Palpatine used it because he was emperor in all but name at the time and thus had higher authority than the Jedi. Remember, jedi serve the republic and palpatine controlled the republic. Palpatine then showed the senate proof of the Jedi order's betrayal by showing a security audio recording from his office that had mace windu and the other 3 members of the council trying to assassinate him. And he even went on to show that the attempt left him scarred and deformed. The canon explanation of the clones being mind controlled was meant to make the clones more human, but they weren't. They were bred to fight and obey. They were living weapons. Jedi master- "Fall back!" Clone trooper- "We can achieve the objective, General. We need to press on." Jedi master- "Most of you will die in the process. That is not acceptable to me." Clone trooper- "With respect, Sir---It is what we were bred for. To battle, To obey, and to die if need be. That's all."

I prefer the Legends explanation, it made any clone defections much deeper because they managed to break their conditioning and prove they are not the machines the galaxy told them they were. I really wish there was a canon storyline that had two clones during the Galactic Civil War meet on the battlefield but on different sides, giving us a glimpse into the moral conflicts they face.
