These are some of the strongest season openers in any of the Star Wars. Also, I would like to point out that Chopper has extreme PTSD when it comes to Y-Wings since that’s what he went down in during the Clone Wars.

Season 3 is a really strong one: pretty consistently so! It’s great having Bendu and Thrawn in it. And I love the bits between Bendu and Kanan during episode 2, and Kanan and Ezra at the end of episode 2. Beautiful.

I love these episodes. Seeing Ezra struggle with the dark side and Kanan struggle with his sight loss and Ahsoka’s supposed death. I loved seeing them start to rebuild their relationship and the introduction of Bendu. Also Thrawn is a freaking legend. Rebels was my intro to him and he grew on me after that. I’ve read all his books and learned as much about him as I could since. Also I’m blind and I likrd how they dealt with Kan adjusting to it. I thought it made sense for him to isolate and feel sorry for himself at first before finding a way to compensate using the force. There’s a scene in a later episode where Sabine is fighting storm troopers with a jet pack anf him asking what’s happening is such a mood. I’m blind myself and s4 of Rebels I’m convinced will never be audio described.

Always keep in mind that the empire is a corrupt dictatorship and their people usually get high ranks because of money or connections, not because of skill. This is why the imperial officers are often very incompetent and no match for the rebels. It's also a racist regime that usually only allows humans to reach positions of power. The fact that Thrawn came that far (he is not just an admiral, but a grand admiral) shows how special he must be. He does have connections too (Tarkin and gouverneur Pryce, both can be seen in this episode; he also knew Anakin Skywalker), but he mainly got his position because of his skill. Little more personal information here, he was also the character that got me into reading star wars books. I found him very interesting as a villian in Rebels and when they sold the first canon Thrawn book in a local bookstore, I thought I could give it a try. Today I own more than 50 star wars novels.

5:48 Bendu is a Hindi word, translated to English it means dot.. but is in a religious sense it is considered to be the extra eighth chakra located in the head not regularly counted in the traditional 7.

You know, for the book readers it was such a big deal when he appeared in this show cause it was the first time when we could see him on screen! I read Timothy Zahn's Thrawn Trilogy of books in middle school and loved it and the character of Grand Admiral Thrawn. Flash forward 10 years to 2016 and I was ecstatic when the Season 3 trailer was released and they brought Thrawn to Rebels (even more so in this first episode when he actually says Hondo's name aloud). Can't wait to see your continued reactions and thoughts to my favorite Star Wars antagonist!😃

Whilst I would imagine that Umbara does cross Rex’s mind, I don’t think he thinks Ezra is going through the same thing, or at least he’s willing to give Ezra more of a benefit of the doubt. After what happened on Malachor, I think Rex is aware of Ezra still grieving and processing the loss of Ahsoka. He’s probably going through the same in that regard.

Jess, if you want to know more about Thrawn, you should read the book trilogy he was created for. They were written by Timothy Zahn, and are well worth the read, even if they are now considered "Legends". His species is called "Chiss", and they come from the "Unknown Regions" of space (outside of the regular galaxy Star Wars takes place in). That's about all I'll tell you, but as you can see even in this episode, he is cold and calculating. He plays the long game like no one else (except MAYBE Palpatine).

The Unknown Regions isn't actually outside the galaxy. It is about one third of the galactic disc, which is called Uknown due to being largely uncharted. Mainstream hyperspace navigation isn't reliable enough in those sectors due to the large amount of space phenomenae, Force disturbances, unstable hypermatter and so on. So there are next to no established hyperspace routes through that region, except for its border with the wider galaxy. The Chiss live deep within the Unknown Regions hence why they're so shrouded in mystery.

Amd now youve met in person grand admiral thrawn. A man who strikes terror to the enemy as he can think like the enemy does by simply studying them similar to how i do. Culture art and the history. He sees things no other imperial does and it makes other imperial leaders look like the simple inscects they are. When the empire rises again he will lead it as its heir. Ive always said that if i made the sequals the empire would have stayed with the updates on armours but the superweapon is a mega star destroyer larger then the super star destroyer. I called it the star slayer.
