These Mandalorian episodes really do give so much to what comes later with live action. The Dark saber gets lore, it gets more weight and you start to understand why it is so important which really helps understand the significance of the Mando series. Also Sabine goes from a good to great character in these episodes you actually understand why she struggles with authority so much in the early seasons.

Well the Darksaber's lore was alluded to by Pre Visula in The Clone Wars. Rebels built upon that lore and added more layers, as did Mandolorian Season 2. All good stuff.

Ursa, Sabine's mother was part of *Death Watch* during the Clone Wars, and was one of the mandalorians in the throne room when Maul killed Pre Vizla, and later she joined Bo-Katan and the *Nite Owls* , she was the one accompanying Bo to ask Ahsoka for help, and of course she took part of the *Siege of Mandalore* , we can see her with her helmet off for one scene :)

She was the one in the hologram that Bo-Katan was talking to just before the Siege of Mandalore began.

And hear her. She’s the one who tells her that Maul is still in the city. I love how far back they go. That’s gonna be one hell of a reunion when Sabine and Bo finally see each other again. They better do it justice.

You probably wont remember this detail but Sabines mother was one of the mandalorians fighting together with Ahsoka and Bo Katan against Mauls warriors in the battle of Mandalore at the end of the clone wars.

Certainly not the case. I mean watching Ahsoka series I feel like I am basically watching the continuation of this episode. Very much Sabine's show as well despite there is only Ahsoka's name in the title.

Great reactions to these wonderful episodes. How good is Filoni to make us feel so much for an animated character's inner struggle like here with Sabine? Kanan is also great in that episode, how he opened the door for her to confront her feelings. Well, after Hera gave him a little hand, of course!

I'm going to say this is a time I am genuinely sad that we're not friends. I really enjoy watching your reactions, but obviously you wouldn't know me from a plate of waffles. I would have given anything to have been a friend of yours and sitting in the same room as you when you saw "Trials of the Darksaber". This is one of the best episodes of all of Rebels... and honestly... Fenn Rau shines here along with the obvious great stuff with Sabine and Kanan. This show is amazing and I knew you'd love it if you watched it and I've been absolutely enjoying your journey!

And man the music is so good in ep15. Chills all day! Row and Herra were the unsung heroes of this episode. She gave Kanan a major reality check. Ep16 is great too! Ezra trying to awkwardly make small talk and Kanan telling him less is more is something that would totally happen with me and my family. Has happened multiple times in fact. I just love that Ersa is one of the characters that goes back the longest. Her and Bo. They knew each other since there Death Watch days. I love these Mandalorian episodes.

Since season 1 we waited for your reaction to Sabine's story. This is SUCH an important pair of episodes not only for Mandalore and all that comes with it but also for....the future. And Sabine's theme as she's releasing all her trauma is a powerful moment. And gotDAMN do I love Rau at this point. Ik something is coming and I CAN'T wait

5:05 What Kanan said there, about "these tricks saving you from time to time, but won't keep you alive on the long run" refers to Maul vs Pre Vizsla in TCW. Once Vizsla ran through all tricks in his arsenal, Maul quickly gained the upperhand.

I freaking love Trials of the Dark Saber. Probably my favorite episode of Rebels. Or at least in my top 3. It’s just so powerful and emotional and really gives you some insight into Sabine’s psychic and everything she’s been through. It’s also a good opportunity to see how much Kanan and Ezra have evolved particularly Kanan. The approach he takes to training her is very different with Ezra. He wants to break down her walls. Make her face her demons and feel those emotions she’s been suppressing so she can learn to channel them and finally start to heal and try to make ammends with her family. It’s the same lesson Ahsoka has to learn when training her later on. That climactic scene where she duels and nearly kills Kanan gets me emotional every time. And I’ll tell you what. This hits different after Ahsoka. The next episode too which is an excellent follow up.

There are so many things in star wars just existing because of random decisions like this, it's amazing :) Did you know that grand moff Tarkin was walking around the death star in house slippers because the shoes for the imperials didn't fit him? So George Lucas made the camera people change positions so you would never see the lower half of Tarkins body in the movie. Or that George Lucas originally meant all jedi to have blue lightsabers until he saw one of the scenes with Luke fighting above the sarlac pit and he thought "Nah, a blue lightsaber in front of a blue sky looks dumb" and made the effects team change it to green.

I stopped watching/reading Star Wars stories when they introduced Mandalorians on the Clone Wars series. The Mandalorians were portrayed so much better in the Expanded Universe, now Legends. I've caught up recently on the TV shows & movies. I still don't like what they did with the Mandos. (And Wedge's story, but that's a different rant.)
