I like how each of the Ghost crew echo the five stages of grief in how they cope with Kanan's death: Ezra is confused and lost and unable to address his feelings (denial); Zeb is out for revenge and determined to hurt the people responsible (anger); Sabine is desperate to find some way to make sure Kanan's death means something and wasn't in vain (bargaining); Hera completely shuts down and is unable to do anything out of despair (depression); and Chopper tries to help the others through their feelings and find an appropriate way to honour him (acceptance)

Chopper may be a little mass murdering psychopath but him holding Hera's hand is one of the most emotional moments in all of Star Wars. And yes, I love the music when they ride the Loth Wolves, one of the most unique pieces of music in Star Wars and it's so good.

Chopper is more devoted to Hera than R2 was to Luke. She rescued him when the ship he was in crashed on Ryloth, and has kept him going ever since. He's got an attachment to her that many biological life forms don't have to someone else. So it's no surprise that he did his best to comfort her when they returned.

This is one thing I love about Filoni, he never shies away from the mystical sides of the force. Something that others have been less likely to do. Rebels is just fabulous for how much it adds to the lore of Star Wars in ways that still impact the live action. Kevin Kiner is my second favourite Star Wars musical director after John Williams. He is brilliant in setting a scene and tone.

"Mystical" side of the force is pretty much what we all call it and youre right. Rebels dives more into it. Clone Wars dabbled as you know with the Mortis arc. More to come 😊
@bemasaberwyn5511 ай бұрын
Clone Wars started the more esoteric side of the force on Mortis that's true. And we did get a little bit more of that during the Sifo Dias arc that eventually spun into Yoda learning how to force ghost. I think that with the freedom Rebels gave Dave that Clone Wars had only started to give him, I feel that he was able to go much more in depth in a way that his mentor had always seen things.

For me this episode is yet another example of how Dave and other storytellers who are acting as writers and showrunners on various projects are superior. I can count on a single hand how many shows that have actually gone and taken time for a character after a major event like this. As opposed to other shows where something major happens and they don't take the time to grieve. I remember when Jedi night first aired, and the entire internet particularly KZbin reactors collectively lost their shit. Many of us did not want to believe that it actually happened and when Dume aired the following week we were so very happy that Dave didn't just brush it under the rug and that he was showing that the characters were in as much pain as the entire fandom was. Now here is a rather fun fact. All the way back at the start of season 2 when there was the voice of the emperor after the siege of lothal the person that they had brought in prior to him being returning as Darth Maul was Sam Witwer ( who has in the years since Clone Wars voiced the emperor in various Star Wars games). We all freaked out when we realized that that was actually Ian who was voicing the emperor in wolves and a door, however they went back and actually had Ian re-record the lines from that earlier episode so in later releases such as physical media it was Ian not Sam
@willfanofmanyii375111 ай бұрын
Tho Sam's performance as the Emperor in the beginning of Season 2 was much better than the retake they did with Ian.

Tim Curry for me never fit in the final season of Clone Wars. Sam is decent. And Ian Abercrombie was incredible in the first five seasons of Clone Wars. But as much as I say no disrespect to Tom Kane voicing the Grand Master of the Jedi Order Ian(just like Frank) are on another level when they come back to inhabit these roles

I've been waiting for you to watch these and the ones to come. This set of arcs are probably the episodes of Rebels I rewatch the most, and I have the same emotional response each time. Your reaction to the reveal of Kanan over Hera's shoulder was only slightly bigger than mine...and it never seems to lose its impact. Also, you may notice that Hera's voice has become slightly more somber, and stays that way for the remaining episodes. Just another example of each character's evolution over the series.

There’s a lot to be said for watching the animals in Rebels. Ezra even points that out with Ahsoka’s connection. Ezra has his with the loth cats (down to some facial scars at one point). Now you have a loth wolf saying its name is Dume. Re Ahsoka: depending on your goals here, consider watching Mando first. There’s a significant character in Ahsoka that is first introduced there. You won’t lose anything important plot-wise in skipping that detail, but it’s a bit of a set-up for the Ahsoka show you may want.

Ep11 is worse than ep10 imo because you get to watch everyone grieve in their own way and it drives home the fact that Kanan really is gone. But I’m glad that Filoni didn’t shy away from it and let us grieve right along with them. Not only that, but the repercussions of Kanan’s death are felt for the rest of the show and into the future. I loved the Loth wolves in this and hope we see more of them and the mystical side of the force in the future.

I think referring to it as the "Mystical" side of Star Wars is spot on. It is the opposite of Andor, which was focused on the grounded and "real" aspects. For me, Rebels balanced Star Wars perfectly between the two, where Andor missed out entirely on one of those two pillars. A good show, but not as *Star Wars* as Rebels.

I always assumed the image of Kanan behind Hera's shoulder was just that. To the community: Am I wrong in now speculating Kanan became a Force Ghost? My understanding is Kanan never came close to the level of both training and insight such a feat required. On a completely different topic, Sesska, take all the time you need for a break, especially with the holidays coming up. Your health comes first. Enjoy the Ahsoka series when you start it. Cheers.

It seems to me that Qui Gon can train Jedi in force ghosting after they've died.
@jeffreymeehan311611 ай бұрын
No, only a few Jedi really can become Force Ghosts. Even as far back as the earliest (chronologically) books in the High Republic series, Force Ghosts are somewhere between "rumor" and "myth" in the far and dusty corners of the Jedi Temple. If any Jedi had done it before Qui-Gon, Obi-Wan, and Yoda then no one has met them. When Qui-Gon contacts Kenobi and Yoda they think they are going insane or being tricked. There is a Dark Side version of a Force Ghost that isn't unheard of. But it is more like a classic Haunting. A Dark Sider's soul is mounted to an area and is forced to stay just there until released. That is what happened to Darth Bane and the Grand Inquisitor. A fitting punishment for him. Although we do hear his and many other Jedi voices in Episode IX there usually has to be a lot of preparation before you get to be even a disembodied voice. It is at the very least implied that Yoda and Obi-Wan were reassembling their consciousnesses offscreen for some time.

I know exactly what you mean, the force is meant to be mystical ( not Midi-chlorians ). The (not so) subtle links between hyperspace and the force ( Purrgil, Loth Wolf ), the dead living through the force ( Ezra's parents, Kanan ) , the jedi temple on Lothal ( Path of the Jedi and Shroud of Darkness ) and the Bendu. And this will get crazier ;) That piss me off to have witness this quality of writing in Filoni and then watched Ahsoka
