Star Wars Rogue Leaders (Unreleased) Wii Trailer

Feast your eyes on gameplay from the completed -- but never released -- Rogue Squadron compilation for Nintendo Wii.
This game was never officially announced by its developer or publisher, but it was openly rumored as a title in production by those close to the game. Its fate was thrown into turmoil with the closing of development studio Factor 5 in 2008. Hopes for its release lived for a short time afterwards as negotiations continued on plans to finish the product with a partner studio. Despite this, the game sadly was never released.

Oh God, I can't take this... T_T Enhanced graphics, widescreen support, 480p resolution, 60FPS, multiple control types, vs. & co-op modes, loads of new content, sweeping musical score, Wii MotionPlus lightsaber duals... and the worst part is knowing IT. WAS. FINISHED. T_T

Well, Disney has a 10-years exclusive deal with EA Games but I think that fact doesn't impede Disney from redistributing games developed before they condemned future Star Wars games.

Man...this is one of the most painful losses I can think of in my time playing games. This is also a rare case where I think the motion controls would have actually been a benefit. There was a chance they could have improved the on-foot sections in Rebel Strike by using them.

***** Exactly. Rogue Squadron is Star Wars. Star Wars games are all published by EA. EA doesn't like Nintendo (and vice versa), Nintendo can't just publish the game without forcing Disney/Lucas into breaking their contract with EA. EA aren't going to publish it on the Wii (because they don't like Nintendo and the Wii). The Wii is last gen. The developer closed up years ago. This game is not coming to Wii.

Kind of a bit late for that, considering the developer, Factor 5, hasn't been around for several years now. Assuming the former employees haven't already moved on, the best Nintendo can do now is fund a whole new studio, or bring them in to one of their existing teams. It would be nice if that happened, especially given how well the Factor 5 guys understood the hardware. Even if they weren't making games, they could make some decent middleware solutions for packages. Unfortunately, Nintendo just doesn't care about western developers. Of all the major publishers, Nintendo has by far, the least development resources outside of Japan. Then there's still the issue with the licensing.

Yeah I haven't played the 3rd game in a while. I own the first two games. Rouge Squadron 2 is probably my favorite Star Wars game ever made.

Star Wars Rogue Squadron II: Rogue Leader is IMO the best Star Wars Game ever made. I've never cared much about the Jedi/Sith Stuff, i'm in for the space battles, and that game sure delivered on that front!

Sounds like this game would have just been rogue leader and rebel strike combined with maybe some gimmicks but at this point, I'd be okay with it considering what a Star Wars fans really have in video games.....

it would have featured more than that; added optional play styles (you could steer an X-Wing with the Wii wheel and manage its pedals with the Balance Board, for example), all the camera glitches found in the Gamecube games would've been fixed, the N64 Rogue Squadron game would've also received a complete graphical revamp, all 3 games would ran at locked 60fps powered by the PS3's Lair's engine.. so yea, we lost a lot.

They should set this game to be release on the Nintendo 3DS. That way, the newer generation Star Wars fans can experience these memorable classics for the first time, but with modern 3D graphics, gyroscopic controls, newer bonus ships, competitive and cooperative multiplayer, new challenge mode and a 3D mission creator.

With Nintendo needing to beef up their holiday release schedule, they should really look into finding a way to finally get this published. Licensing is a big deal with Star Wars, but even if it takes sending a couple million bucks to EA and/or Disney, it would be cheaper than developing a game from scratch.
