I remember back in the early 2000's my dad had a Nintendo 64 and a bunch of games with it, and Shadows of The Empire was one of them, and as a big Star Wars fan he was, he introduced me to it at a young age, through the Prequels at the time, the video games and the Original Trilogy on DVD, but I remember this and Rouge Squadron on the N64 being the only Star Wars games we had, and even after he'd passed away, I'd always be reluctant to play this one just for it's challenging game play and haunting but amazing score, hell, the death screen always scared me as a kid and I would cry to my mom about the game being scary. Those were the times. Now I'm glad I'm actually good at video games. And thank my Dad especially for getting me into an amazing series that is still apart of my life, as it was his.

What I like about this game the most is that, we who played it as children got exposed to a more sinister and creepy version of the Star Wars Universe, Shadows of the Empire really is the perfect title for this game. I remember being so freaked out by those Yeti like things (Wampa's) the AT-ST boss making me run and sprint for my life, IG-88 traumatizing me for life, Boba Fett causing me to panic and feel overwhelmed since he was such a small and agile foe. SOTE, this game in particular, is what initiated me into the Star Wars fandom at age 15. I was fortunate that just months after this game came out, the special edition of the OT was released in theaters. Really weird way to get into it since both Episode V and VI served to help me understand why Han was in the condition he was in in the game, and how he got out of it. Not long after I read the novel and look forward to reading it again. More specific to this video, I had always thought this theme was composed specifically for the game since it doesn't appear in any of the films. Years later it was a joy to discover that it was a part of the TESB score all along, titled The Ice Planet Hoth. So beautiful! And forever the essence of Star Wars to me.

Really wasted opportunity to have never made this into a movie. The multi-media project was very ambitious, it was cool to need to get all the pieces to understand the full story. Dash Rendar as the protagonist of the video game, see Boba Fett's whole journey to drop off Solo at Jabba's through the comics, and get the full meat of the story with the novel which remains my favorite from the SW EU.
