Also she leaves at sunset with the dark clouds in the background, so another step closer for Anakin to his fall, the coming darkness. And when he comes up those stairs, it is night, complete darkness. Maybe this is dumb, but I do think in ROTS the sky is symbolic of Anakins fall/the fall of the republic.

1. Friendly reminder that THIS is where the Clone Wars originally ended. They literally left us at this bittersweet ending, arguibly cliffhanger for YEARS lol 2. The thing that made Bariss's betrayal so impactfull and unexpected for me is the fact that she was an actual reocurring character throughout the show. She and Ahsoka survived life and death scenarios together, making her deciding to frame her so much more painfull tbh 3. Note that only Anakin and Plo Koon apologised and never fully believed Ahsoka was guilty. That and Ahsoka leaving are a great segway into Anakin butting heads and feeling a level of resentment towards the council. And for good reason if we're being honest. Sidius says it himself at one point, the only reason he was able to hide in plain sight is because the Jedi had become too arrogant in their self-righteusness

In the pre-Disney Star Wars continuity, now called Legends, the Jedi Order rarely fairs well during times of intense war. True war brings out the Dark Side in almost everybody to varying degrees, and only the most dedicated Jedi can overcome this. This was a big part of Palpatine's plan all along.

The thing is, Barriss technically wasn't thinking clearly. Palpatine set up a veil over the Force which prevented the Jedi from properly seeing into the future of Order 66. Only by tapping into the Dark Side could this veil be pierced and those that did got a glipse of the terible future that was to come. This is also why that one Jedi with the four arms went crazy and turned against the clones, he was paranoid from the premonitions and Dark Side touched. The reason everything Barriss said seems prescient is beacuse it was. Barriss was more aware of the trajectory of the Clone Wars than most, but unfortunately her senses, like the rest of the Jedi, were clouded by the Dark Side.

So do you remember how Anakin gets granted a seat on the council but not the rank of Master and how it's unfair? This is why it's unfair. Anakin had completed every task required for a Jedi Knight to become a Master *except* for training a Padawan to their Knighthood. If Ahsoka was a knight, Anakin would be a master. But the Jedi failed Ahsoka, and their failure is why Anakin wasn't promoted.

Fun fact #1: 8:40 Barriss is actually only around one year younger than Anakin, and 3 years older than Ahsoka, so she'd be somewhere between 19-21 in this episode. Also it's clearly shown here, that she doesn't have a Padawan braid, so it's easy to infer she'd been knighted since Season 2. #2: The trailer for this arc actually had a shot of Anakin with two lightsabers in his hands, but Barriss' was changed to green, so people wouldn't relalise who it belongs to. #3: Anakin making Barriss drop one of her lightsabers by catching and squeezing her wrist, and then bludgeoning her remaining one with massive downward strikes is a reference to the 2003 Tartakovsky miniseries, where he defeated Ventress the same way. #4: The ending of the episode contrasts the ending of "Wookie Hunt": during both story arcs, Ahsoka had been separated from Anakin, and then they got reunited, thanks to the aid of unexpected allies. "Wookiee Hunt" ends with Anakin and Ahsoka walking back to the Temple side-by-side, with Yoda smiling proudly, "The Wrong Jedi" ends with Ahsoka leaving the Temple and Anakin, with Yoda casting his eyes down in shame. Both scenes took place during sunset. #5: Kevin Kiner actually flew-out to Prague and hired a full orchestra to record the soundtrack for these four episodes, and he did it on his own time and money, since the show's budge didn't allow for it normally. #6: This is the only episode from the series's original run on Cartoon Network, which doesn't end with the outro fanfare. Dave Filoni did in fact try to remove that fanfare from a few episodes before (for example Brain Invaders from Season 2), but Lucas insisted on keeping it. For this one, Filoni convinced Lucas, by only switching out the fanfare, when they showed him the completed episode, with Kiner's full score, finished animation, because by then he knew Lucas enough to know nothing less will sway him, than the full impact. #7: Speaking of the outro score for this episode: it's actually Ahsoka's theme from the pilot movie. #8: Dave Filoni actually withheld the last couple of pages of the script from the voice actors. Anakin's line of "They are asking you back Ahsoka. I'm asking you back" was the last line everyone recorded together. After that Filoni threw everyone out of the recording booth, except Ashley Eckstein and Matt Lanter, and gave them the last pages.

Amobng those arcs was the arc "Dark Disciple" which would have been about 8 episodes long and Ventress (alongside the jedi Quinlan Vos) would have been the main characters. Later on that story arc was at least turned into a book of the same name, so we at least got to know what happens in that cancelled CW story. Though, I still want to see that story alongside the 9 other unfinished CW arcs return to screen again one day.

Also, it shows the extremes of loyalty. Ahsoka felt abandoned by the order, the "you didn't stand by your own" ideal having failed there. Yet this very same ideal is what allowed Barris to stay under the radar for so long: because she was a Jedi, the Council would not suspect her. You must be willing to hope your your own to be innocent, but don't ever rule them out as being guilty until they are definitively proven not to be in such situations, especially when lives are lost. And Ahsoka does indeed have a degree of blame in this: she did just run without thinking, which caused it to appear she had murdered those clones, and ultimately lead her to be found near the bombs. She was innocent, but if she had stopped and thought it over, she'd have likely had many opportunities to not put herself in such dire straights. Maybe put the idea forward that she was with Anakin on a completely different planet when this happened, which Anakin and a bunch of clone troopers could testify. And transmissions from their ships could have been brought up to show Ahsoka was not in contact with Coruscant at the time of the bombing. Ahsoka is a fantastic character and Barris was a monster who had half a point, but Ahsoka showed her flaws here. And her journey of growing past those flaws is what makes her great!

The imperial march/Vader's theme never gets old when it's used. I always like when I see Anakin's lightsaber-disarming move by twisting the wrist, and his overhead swing that Luke used on him and that he used multiple other times. I liked Ahsoka being apologized to by Plo-Koon. I've always liked his character. He was one of the few Jedi who knew the council was wrong. Most didn't even apologize. The ending of this episode left me in uncontrollable sadness for a very long time. Ahsoka closing Anakin's hand, Plo-Koon holding Obi-Wan back because he knew Anakin needed to talk alone with Ahsoka (he one of few Jedi that stands by Anakin and any other Jedi, very good guy), Yoda looking like he knew they messed up, the music. One of the best episodes of the whole series. I also like how Ahsoka revealed she knew about Anakin's distrust with the Jedi too, and maybe about his private relationship too. I couldn't imagine watching this on release day and not ever knowing if the series would come back. This is where it left off for years. The ending shot was also the same camera position where Anakin walked into the temple with the 501st during Order 66.

So much emotion here. As far as the vote, it’s presumed the votes in favor for Ahsoka were at least Obi Wan, Plo Koon and Yoda. But the one that stuck with Ahsoka to the end was Anakin. And this whole affair severely shakes his faith in the Council. Suddenly his turn is more understandable. I’m glad Bethany pointed out Barriss’s glaring hypocrisy about violence. What makes it worse for Ahsoka is that she saved Barriss and Tarkin. And their appreciation is shown by backstabbing. It can also implied from Ahsoka’s response to Anakin saying he understands wanting to walk away that she’s probably figured out his secret relationship with Padme.

I really like tarkin's argument at the start because he's kinda correct, since when do we trust internal investigations? But also it puts pressure into the Jedi council to be harsher and find her guilty in a subconscious attempt to "be fair" and prove there is no bias, either way it still works out for Palpatine's attempt to get rid one of the major reasons Anakin chose not to go on the darker path many a times and in both cases he could still throw the council under the bus later on. imagine they have the opera scene and then in his office when he fully reveals himself and how he can save those he loves he on top of that drops "the council, they were behind the bombing, they did it to frame her, to take her away from you, like they took you away from your mother" and that's the ideal (for Palpatine) timeline where Anakin didn't come this close 🤏🏼 to let him die

Indeed, nowadays it is often possible to find that if a person is labeled with some kind of label (well, like that he is a bad person because he is... so-and-so), then it is no longer necessary to find out his opinion. It's a little sad, but this is our reality, which we need to do something about, because otherwise, we will be separated to such a state that everyone will sit in their house and hate even their neighbor. In short, let's unite for peace, against those who divide us for the sake of war. And the series is great and a good end to the season. We are waiting for the next one!😊

And that's season 5. Just think, this was the original finale of the show. When Disney bought Lucasfilm in 2012, they decided they wanted to "take the saga in a new direction", and part of the strategy to do that was apparently cancelling the show, much to the surprise of almost everyone involved. We wouldn't know what happened to Ahsoka (or Rex for that matter) for years. But, that being said, what a note to go out on. I had forgotten just how hard this episode hits. Between the entire council and, by extension, the Jedi Order as a whole abandoning her and trying to wash their hands of the situation at the slightest bit of evidence against Ahsoka to Tarkin using this whole thing to publicly undermine the Jedi (possibly at the behest of Palpatine, but it could just be because he hates Force users), this episode really gets me angry. We also can't forget Barriss betraying one of her closest friends and committing these awful acts all to prove a point about how the Jedi have lost their way and, despite her abhorrent methods to prove it, she is right. Leading these armies in a war as generals and commanders completely flies in the face of what the Jedi say they stand for, but they've become so set in their ways and self-righteous (not to mention arrogant and overconfident) that they've not only found ways to justify every time they break the Jedi Code, they've blinded themselves to Palpatine's plot unfolding right in front of them. And then, when Ahsoka is cleared of wrongdoing later, Plo Koon is the only council member who apologizes to her for falsely accusing her of terrorism and sedition and expelling her from the Order. Not even Obi-Wan stands up for her, and then Mace Windu has the gall to immediately brush the situation off and call it part of her "great trial" to become a Jedi, just to keep from admitting that he made a mistake. Ooh, it makes me so mad. Well, that's enough ranting about the flaws of the Jedi; time for the fun facts. Like every episode of this arc, this episode's title is an homage to an Alfred Hitchcock film, this time it's "The Wrong Man." This episode marks the first credited appearance of Tim Curry as the voice of Palpatine replacing Ian Abercrombie, who had unfortunately passed away the year prior, though Curry did provide some additional dialogue uncredited in the episodes "Revival" and "The Lawless." This episode features the final appearance of Asajj Ventress. Her story would have continued in a future arc of the show before the series was cancelled, but the arc was adapted into the novel "Dark Disciple" written by Christie Golden. This episode is also the final appearance of Wilhuff Tarkin, everyone's favorite jerk. We get several cameos from characters from the show's history including: the younglings from the Gathering arc, master Tera Sinube who played a major role in the season 2 episode "Lightsaber Lost", senator Riyo Chuchi who we met in the season 1 episode "Trespass", and senators Mon Mothma and Bail Organa who will both go on to play key roles in the Rebel Alliance during the reign of the Empire. During the fight between Anakin and Barriss when the Temple Guards show up to break up the fight, we get to see them activate their unique lightsabers, called lightsaber pikes. These are similar to the double bladed lightsaber, but the blades of these are slightly smaller. They also have hinged joints allowing them to fold for easier carrying. But the most unique thing about these are their yellow coloration. In Legends, this color was typically wielded by Jedi Sentinels, who preferred to work directly with citizens of the galaxy and often worked to solve more small-scale and community-oriented problems over larger political or military gains; many Sentinels would take to roles like private investigators and some even acted as vigilantes from time to time to address issues created by corrupt law enforcement. I'm not sure if this is still true in canon, but I thought I'd bring it up just because I think it's pretty interesting. The last thing I can think of is the final shot of the episode where Ahsoka leaves the order; it's based on a photograph of the sky of San Francisco's East Bay taken by series director Dave Filoni during the episode's production. I actually just found this out recently while I was reading entries on Wookieepedia and thought it was too interesting not to mention. Next up is season 6, sometimes subtitled "The Lost Missions." This season is made up of episodes that were completed before Disney had bought Lucasfilm, but went unaired after they cancelled the series. They originally aired on Netflix before Disney decided to make their own streaming service, although a Blu ray of the season was also released. Can't wait for you all to start it! That first arc of the season is something else! See you guys next week 🙂

People hate on the council even though they didn't even do anything wrong beyond logically follow the clues and not letting bias and emotions cloud their judgment. The only reason Ahsoka even is in trouble is because she was stupid enough to fall for obvious traps. Hell when the council realized that they where wrong they emediatley apologised and allowd her to return even promoting her even though she did absolutley nothing to deserve it. With Mace the only reason to hate his comment is because he is lying out of hiss ass as Ahsoka showd no resiliance in the force at all. Also Ahsoka gave basically the same sentiment to a guy whose people where enslaved but nobody hates on that. Fox was just doing his job. Trakin too but he becomes a asshole later so fuck em. Anakin truly showing the dephts of his hypocrasy now being mad that Ahsoka isn't let off the hook even though all the evidence leads to her murdering a suspect and being a terrorist. Her being with Ventress and not even trying to clariyfy beyond basically saying trust me bro doesent help. If anyone legitimetly thinks this justified anything Anakin did as Vader and even before then you truly are a deranged person.

The fact that it was Barris and she was so focused on her truth which drew her to a dark side , even if not related to our normal sith lords To me the creators were capable of building this fragile truth which was hinted a few times until Ashoka faces some of them, and her choice to leave the order has you said, it's a mix of her faith in the Jedi order shattered and the believe in herself if she is worthy to be a true jedi as she hoped they are and not people and society which makes mistakes And the question of 'what if Ashoka stayed '.... Some paths of this question are explored in very interesting ways in other Star Wars media and it is amazing. This season is defenitly one of the best , for me. Ashoka's character growth and the influence of Anakin on her as well as the influence on Anakin as we see more for his reasons to withdraw slowly to the dark side. I am really waiting for your commentary on the next SW

Barriss is completely right. It's just that her actions are wrong. She followed the Jedi logic taught to her by Luminara. So: - Ignore emotions - Focus on realities - Fight evil at any cost (And the Jedi often used violence, 'negotiating with a lightsaber') That's why Barriss became a terrorist. She literally became one of them. The Jedi logic made Barriss unable to simply leave like Ahsoka and she had to fight. She can't be called a hypocrite because in her speech, she says 'We,' so she was also talking about herself. She considered herself a product of the Jedi's downfall. However, it's also worth noting that Barriss didn't plan to harm Ahsoka, and after analysis I can say that what we saw was improvisation and the ultimate test for the Jedi Council. Betray Ahsoka and show who you really are, or save her and prove that you can be good. Barriss kept Ventress's lightsabers. She wanted to use them. There is no other explanation. If the Jedi had betrayed her, Barriss would have framed Ventress and saved Ahsoka. Then she probably would have left the Order, but her logic would still command her to fight against the Jedi. (The problem with Barriss is that she had way too little time, so you can only analyze her and you can't be sure of anything.) Additionally, she only used the dark side minimally (she didn't fall completely) And that's what one of the directors said. And honestly, the Jedi deserved Barriss because they are literal evil. It's a broken institution that commits crimes because politicians order them to. Barriss didn't deserve the Jedi Order because she was good, and it was the Jedi who broke her. She wants to be good, but harm has already been done, and Barriss's actions are evil like Jedii. She literally became the truth.

11:50 A lot of people have the notion that Yoda doesnt make a lot of mistakes. I am of the opinion that most of his tenure as Grand Master was full of mistakes. Under him the Jedi spend the majority of a 1000 years, since the Sith went into hiding, becoming rigid and stuck in their way. Under him Count Dooku became distrustful of the jedi (even before becoming a sith) and under him the jedi fell. Even during Lukes training he, while having bettered himself somewhat, was insistend on Luke killing Vader ( Obi Wan as well). Yoda while better than most jedi, had become a perfect example of a complacent Jedi (just as Windu is the example for a dogmatic Jedi)

A few (probably silly) observations. I love that the Jedi have a room called "The Chamber of Judgement" 😂 Does Padmé have a law degree?¿! The temple guards look SICK AF holy shit Berriss: "The only thing the Jedi Order believed in is violence!" Also Berriss: *commits domestic terrorism* ??? Like girl what? 😂 Mace with the "this was actually your great trial" SHUT THE FUCK UP! Thats so dumb of him to say. I love Mace, but tact is definitely not his strong suit💀 "I know you believe in me, Anakin" The use of his name here is so special to me, she doesnt call him Anakin THAT often; so I really like that she uses it here 1) its really driving home that she is leaving the order, thus he is not her master 2) its that familiarity they have 3) It feels like she is addressing her peer and not her superior, and thats cool.

Barris was absolutely right. The war, the whole war was a trap for the Jedi. And the only way for the Jedi to spring it was to be directly tied with the republic. The Ruusan reformation put the Jedi directly hand-in-hand with the republic. Ever since then it was downhill. But now we’ve come to this another war, with public opinion shifting against the Jedi. Forcing them to play politics, was the end of the order. keep in mind that Jedi I haven’t fought a war let alone led men in the battle in over 1000 years. Why do you think the casualty rate in the Clones was so high? Barris figured it out first, the Jedi had strayed from their original path becoming what they fought against and inevitably leading both the galaxy and themselves to despair. Do you want to know what happen if Asoka stayed? Easy she would be gunned or cut down with the rest of the Jedi in the temple.

12:20 OOHHH I LOVE THIS LINE, this THIS, RIGHT, HERE. is Anakin's real downfall He could have had his wife, he could've stepped down with ahsoka, he could've chosen happiness, but the weight of being branded as the chosen one, his want to see that thing that has been put onto him, ever since he was 8, through and do right by Qigong and his older brother Obi-wan but also the self perception of failure to the one thing that gave him freedom and power, the thing he lost his mom over, all because he couldn't bring himself to accept the sacrifices he unwillingly made as that, he instead made them his fuel what eventually made him fall, that's why after he kills windu he falls to his knees and says "fuck it, I'm in too deep, can't turn back now, just tell me how to save padme" because that's basically what he'd been doing all his life, Anakin is THE case of the sunk cost fallacy and no wonder he is, Jedi mental healthcare was like "just let it go bro, meditate it away or something, simply train yourself avoid having those emotions as much as you can" rather than "feel, feel lots and then don't let those feelings do the talking, also here's how you process them healthily... Also we don't shun emotions here, fear does lead to anger and all that but you WILL feel All of those because you're a person like everyone else and that's fine"

You guys mentioned how condescending Tarkin was to Ahsoka, but Mace Windu was FAR worse with his gaslighting "the Force works in mysterious ways and you're a better Jedi now" line of bullshit. Talk about not being able to just apologize. The Jedi order had become so prideful and arrogant that they'd feed Ahsoka to the wolves and then expect her to come groveling back- and not even as a full Jedi Knight- they were handing her back that dumb Padawan braid! It's Mace Windu that eventually kills the Jedi Order when he decides to execute Sideous in ROTS. That was the moment that he could have let the law play out, but decided to be judge, jury and executioner. It's probably for the best that Ahsoka wasn't there for all that.

Ngl Mace windu be messing stuff up in star wars all the time. The dude tried to twist their distrust on ashoka into being a "test" for her. He pushed anakin to spy on a 2nd father figure (palaptine) while knowing he was already distrusting of them, they denied him master rank due to maturity(which is fair). Then, he tried to throw in the last minute if palpatine is a sith lord, you will become a jedi master. Baris was right though, jedi are peacekeepers but yet they command thousands of soldiers each, and they occupy and recruit different planets to their cause. I see them very similar to crusaders of 1050-1300 CE, they idea of there cause is to help the poeple, but yet they did more harm than good in their crusade. Jedi should've stayed off of the military operations and only come when help was needed. Being commanders of thousands of soldiers would eventually be the downfoul because 1v1000 on the average for order 66.

This episode not only left me emotional but it showed me two things. One the Jedi order isn’t perfect it never was from the beginning and Ahsoka has valid reasons to leave and I would’ve done the same. And two the Jedi Code ended up getting themselves killed on order 66 in someway and it pains me to say that the Jedi order was doomed from the beginning. Before I get jumped for these statements, yes I know all jedi aren’t bad that’s why some left. But all in all this was messed up and my least favorite arc of them all but it had to happen the way it did.

Mace Windu just full on gaslighting Ashoka after being willing to sacrifice her for the sake of politics. I expect if Ashoka had been found guilty, then Anakin would have broken her out, and they would both have gone on the run. This results in 2 outcomes, either Mace kills Palpatine as Anakin isn't there to defend him and the empire never rises, or it does rise, but Anakin and Ahsoka end up being the leaders of the rebellion when he realises Palpatine is behind it all.

This episode definitely makes you understand a little more on why Anakin would turn on The Jedi in Revenge of The Sith, the fact that instead of sticking with Ahsoka & trusting her, they threw her to the wolves & if it wasn't for Anakin she would've been executed by Tarkin. Definitely makes Mace going out a Window more satisfying that's for sure. Also this is Ventress' last appearance on the show & if you wanna see where she goes next, I recommend reading the novel, Dark Disciple

? you still think this was a separatist plot? it wasn't. Veris went dark side all due the actions of the Jedi (& Republic). One can argue Palatine corrupts the entire galaxy, but even the supreme villain doesn't get all the credit/blame. If he is responsible, it's completely unconsciously this time. Nah, the Jedi destroy themselves. I'm not usre i agree with the unity quote/idea, but if so, then the Jedi aren't good(anymore), therefore they are dividing the people. Fits your premise 100%, despite your wanting to look elsewhere for evil remember, reality is that most wars are, or become, evil vs evil

Barress Offee has a valid point. The Jedi Order is what they are trying to achieve across the galaxy. They lie, they threaten, they abuse, they eradicate, they abandon one of their own. Why do we need some heroic characters who are literally doing something so negative and acting self-righteousness so much? If their way isn't working, someone else might. And I'm 50/50 thankful for that, know of all the worst mistakes they've made is that realizing there is no one else to blame but themselves.

This BS, is so stupid, everytime I see it, I can feel my brain rotting from it. Name one instance when the Jedi threaten, abuse or eradicate anyone or anything in the show. One instance! You can't, because they don't. The only ones to engage in such behavior are Anakin, Krell and Barriss herself. You know. The two guys and one chick who actually fell to the Dark side. While it's true the Jedi became increasingly hypocritical through the war, that was the whole point of Palpatine's plan. Force a Jedi into a situation, where no matter what, they have to compromise their ideals, thus weaked them from the inside out.
