In the cannon material he's on the level of a above average jedi knight, which is where he should be, not on the level of Yoda, Vader and Sidious.

Hayden Christensen is a great actor, the problem was with the directing. Lucas didn't give the actors enough direction with the dialog. I mean, look at Samuel L. Jackson! He's a great actor, but he sounded terrible in the movies.

StreetSoldierHood Regardless, people always blame the actors for the dialog in the movies, yet no one ever realises that it's the director's fault for not giving the actors proper direction and the writer's fault for writing dialog so bad that no amount of acting can save it. Even if Christensen isn't an "amazing" actor, even at average, with the right direction, he could've made his role as Anakin work.

I thought Anakin's portrayal as a character in general was just better in the Clone Wars animations than it was in the films. Not just his slide to the Dark side, but also his status in the republic and just how he acted as a person. Like when it shows how much he hates the idea of slavery, since he was a slave himself, or when he's teasing Ashoka, or bantering even more with Obi-Wan, or his attachment to R2, and how much he distrusts R2's replacement. He's just a deeper, better character. All the characters are portrayed better. From Mace Windu to Count Dooku. Although, I get that they did have more time to work with them.

I'm so glad to see Clone Wars (2003) getting some recognition. Special mention should go to Chapter 13 (its on the Volume 1 DVD), its just Mace Windu fighting a droid army on Dantooine all by himself. There is no dialogue, kudos to them for not using a Sam Jackson impersonator, and he is so badass. This is the Mace we thought we were getting when we heard SLJ had a role in the prequels....but he mostly just sat in a circle and talked calmly.....b/c talking calmly is what Samuel L. Jackson is known for.

***** Because those movies are terrible and George Lucas only cared about how many lightsabers he could put on screen. Instead of a few highly trained Jedi laying waste to battle droids you have 40 indistinguishable swinging light sabers. It just comes down to how you view the Jedi and their power set. I would have preferred to see them as a force that can single-handedly change the course of a battle, rather than just another wave of soldiers with different weapons.
@MysteriousMrL9 жыл бұрын
***** Exactly. It is fun to watch, but then you stop to think about it. If one Jedi could take out an entire army single-handed then how could they possibly be wiped out? I definitely agree the prequels weren't very good, but this part is just trying to be over the top cool without regard for story logic. I can maybe give it a pass by justifying it as the kid's perspective exaggerating what really happened.

I disagree in something. I think Anakin's turn to the dark side was far better portrayed on the CGI clone wars series (SPOILER) as you can see he loses Ahsoka as a Jedi and a partner and as he is slightly worker by Palpatine. In the clone wars animated series Anakin looks anger and all, but that doesn't is enough to turn to the dark side (Luke was a very angry man when he fought vader and didn't become evil.)
@Melkac9 жыл бұрын

The animated theatrical release of The Clone Wars. Think about it Chriss. That's how the public found out Anakin had a Padawan. Everyone heard through the trailers that "Yes, there's another NEW hope for Star Wars. And her name is Asoka Tano. And she's Anakin's Padawan." I guarantee you George, and the producers in Industrial Light and Magic didn't give a crap if even one ticket was sold, even though George was kinda going out of business around that time. The only reason why that was released in theatres was for the public service announcement about Anakin' Padawan. That theatrical release was ACTUALLY the most expensive trailer on earth.

The best thing about the Clone Wars micro-series was the introduction of General Grievous. He is hands down my favorite villain in the prequel saga in terms of creativity and sheer brutality. Aside from his one weakness that he can't use and is vulnerable to the force, he still stands as one of the most bad @$$ characters. I liked Darth Maul, Dooku, and Ventress too, but watching Grievous dominate seven jedi at once, even if they were exhausted at the time, was jaw dropping. His episode III appearance though was disappointing, since he wasn't nearly as powerful after Windu crippled his lungs. He also died far too easily.
@Justmyhandle9 жыл бұрын
***** Right, I meant six (technically five since the padawan was killed immediately without a fight). I haven't watched the old Clone Wars series for years, so my memory was off. Ki-Adi-Mundi himself commented however that, even considering their exhaustion and injuries at the time, Grievous was the first combatant in a long time to hold his own against so many jedi at once. Even if they had been in top condition and adapted to his fighting style, it still would have been a challenge. He mainly lost against Kenobi because Windu force crushed his lungs prior, drastically weakening him. Also, it was shown in the CG Clone Wars series that, even in his prime, Grievous had never defeated a master in a fair one on one duel. He usually won by surprising or overwhelming his opponents.
@RockFan989 жыл бұрын
+Eclipse Hero it just shows how skilled kenobi is being the greatest form 3 specialist In the Jedi order with an inpenantrble lightsaber defense. Imo no duelist during the clone wars could defeat Obi wan with their lightsaber alone and would need the assistance of the force or physical strikes plus as stated in the rots novel that Obi wan gave himself over completely to the living force which allowed him to block all of grevious strikes and when it became to much he simply altered his blades angle and chopped off the generals hands so yeah.
@Justmyhandle9 жыл бұрын
Tom Ridgway I'm not familiar with the novels, there's just too many now for me to make sense of them all. It would be cool to have an anthology TV series covering storylines from at least some of the books, maybe the events involving Luke, Han, and Leia between episodes 6 and the upcoming 7? We can hope :) Also, while I definitely agree on Obiwan's defense being the best in the council, I believe it's plausible that Yoda's Form 4 is fast enough to match or outmaneuver him even without force or physical attacks. He was one of Obiwan's teachers and could likely exploit Form 3's imperfections. In his prime, Yoda was in a class of his own, his only equals in dueling ability to my knowledge being Windu and Palpatine.
@RockFan989 жыл бұрын
it is pssible but exremly unlikely but still a possibily only dooku yoda palpatine and windu have a chance of penetrating his defense however I believe yoda would exaust himself before he could do so as he does it so easily with ataru but still possible

The 2008 cartoon throws the timeline of Star Wars out of alignment with the introduction of Ahsoka Tano. Going by the Revenge of the Sith novelization (FANTASTIC read, by the way) the war lasted about 3-3.5 years, judging by Dooku's age at the start of the book (83) compared to his age at Geonosis (80). Let's convert that to 36-42 months. Also, Anakin was Knighted about two years into the war. 24 months are now GONE, as Anakin wouldn't have been able to have Ahsoka as an apprentice if he himself was a Padawan (going by the Phantom Menace). We're down to at most 18 months. In addition, Padme was about five months along in her pregnancy when the book starts, so that's another five months gone. At most, there is a 13-month window for Ahsoka to have been Anakin's apprentice. And that is NOT counting Season 6. To its credit, the 2008 cartoon did validate one section of what is now the Legends universe: Obi-Wan's ex-girlfriend, Satine Kryze, Duchess of Mandalore. There is a Legends story where Qui-Gon and then-Padawan Obi-Wan went on a year-long protection mission; their charge was Satine. When she was introduced in the show, there was heavy implication of a past between her and Obi-Wan; that was it. The 2003 animation was pretty cool. It introduces General Grievous in spectacular fashion, and also takes the time to explain why he was coughing when we meet him in Revenge of the Sith. Oddly enough- is the 2003 animation still main canon? Ventress was blind there, but she can obviously see in the 2008 show, which IS canon. Also, Anakin Skywalker pretty much Force-pushed her off a cliff. How'd she survive THAT?
@Setosama029 жыл бұрын
Aequitas 1995 Ventress was blind in the 2003 show? I don't know where you got that information but I'm pretty sure it's obviously not the case. The major contradiction between "Clone Wars" and "The Clone Wars" is General Grievous who is NOTHING like he is in the former! And no, the 2003 show is technically part of the "Legends" bracket now, which is STUPID because it does not ignore continuity which the 2008 series DOES! And I don't mean with between the series but with THE MAIN FILMS! I'm currently trying to get through the series and break it down and I've stopped about half-way through Season 3 because the show keeps making me rage because it's SO bad! I can't believe Chris gave the series a "B"! From what I've seen so far it should get a fucking "F"! -_- Also, yeah, Ventress surviving that fall on Yavin IV baffles me too! XD
@tylerskiss9 жыл бұрын
Aequitas 1995 ain't that the truth? Look at the whole Grievous thing- in RotS the first thing he says when he sees Anakin is how he had imagined he'd be older, yet tCW shows them facing off multiple times!! Same with Dooku- both Jedi fought him several times (according to tCW) between AotC and RotS, yet in Sith they talk about their last meeting being AotC. And then there's the stupid resurrection of Darth Maul. Like everyone else, I was fascinated by Darth Maul and disappointed with his demise, but the problem with all these non-Lucas story tellers is they are always caving in to fan wishes. Boba Fett escapes. Maul lives. It's just foolish and it always aggravated me that they did that and that so many people welcomed the idea.

When you said that The Clone Wars series's episodes weren't shown chronologically, They actually meant to do that. Star Wars: The Clone Wars is an Anthology series. (Which means the Episodes aren't shown in a strict chronological order )They would show this series of Episodes and then they would show an episode that takes place before the events of that series of Episodes to give us some information about what's going on and how it started up. Then there are some episodes that were meant to be Flashback episodes. Basically they would show one episode involving around a character, And then they would show an episode that took place way before which is part of that character's memory Stuff like that. So for me, Making The Clone Wars an Anthology series was a very brave choice on behalf of Dave Filoni and Lucasfilm. The Clone Wars movie is actually starting to grow on me, But it's still not very good.

I have seen every episode of both Clone Wars series and that film. Honestly, some of the best Star Wars experiences a fan could get. It is a pity the original Clone Wars show is considered "Legends" now though, however the Battle of Hypori (the awesome part where Grievous made his first on-screen debut) is actually still canon thanks to a small reference James Luceno made in one of his books. In my own "head-canon" Volume 1 and the opening scenes of Volume 2 of Clone Wars take place before the start of The Clone War series, and the final parts of Clone Wars Volume 2 took place before and around the time of the cancelled "Siege of Mandalore" arc from the unfinished final seasons of The Clone Wars. Just imagine that after Anakin had his spirit journey on that one planet in Clone Wars, he went to play his part in the Siege of Mandaolore before rushing off to save the Chancellor and it all kind of makes sense... a little bit at least.

the cg show made me fall in love with clones more so i mean i felt connected with some of the main clones and i understood their code it was very emotional you know. The brother hood. Captain Rex and some key clones deaths which kind of made me really sad, and you knew it was story telling because well we all knew this leads up to episode 3 so theyll all die prior to it mace windu dumb found character is well as youd expect ignorant as protrayed in the movies which i hated him so much but i did think he was a bad ass jedi. season 6 i thought elaborated too much like the whole destruction of the jedi dropping hints left and right like i was thinking JESUS who wrote this?! like itd make you think master yoda was a complete bafoon which it did make me think that. If you put it alltogether in the star universe the jedi never took the next step and its what blinded them they didnt keep going into the darkness hell it kind of made me upset season 6 i mean seriously the end of the jedi hints left and right and no one was even curious to go the extra mile it did leave a cliff hanger after episode 3 then we go into rebels series which is more so written by disney you know as far as certain clones removing their inhibitor chips and following up on the suspicions buuuuut yet the jedi wouldnt believe and thus their fall so there was a gap somewhere i still dont know good thing though the clones return was emotional and how they were almost killed i got really sad i was talking to the tv like and i quote "seriously youre not going to turn around you dont even know who these guys were they are better men than you are a jedi!" un quote. thats the kind of love the cg show brought for me towards the clones.
