I appreciate all of the work they put in during their time in Norway. None of that has to happen today during filming with 21st century technology. Thank you for posting this. I’ve never seen all of this before. I miss Carrie so much. I hope in another 40 years, people still love ESB.

Same here, saw it twice in theatre in 1980 (once with my next door neighbor/best friend at the time, second several months later visiting my grandmother). I was five at the time, I also remember receiving the All Terrain Armored Transport (AT-AT) from Santa that Christmas. . .

I believe that the characters are so ingrained in our culture these days that you can’t watch any of the films without feeling you know them. back in the day in 77 Star Wars introduced me and I went into Empire knowing their relationships. I’m not sure you can get an unbiased review of Empire these days but it is my favorite of the films

I think it's most reasonable to crap on Disney's sequels because they failed to show our friends reunite at least once. Seeing them grow old together would have won a lot of us over.

As a 54 year old SW fan, this very first minute of a 'behind the scene' documentary gives me that specific feeling I had in '77 watching 'A New Hope' on big screen. For me, I stick to Rogue One, A New Hope, Empire Strikes Back en Return of the Jedi. CGI, Disney, Remastered versions simply don't work for me. A big bow to all people involved decades ago creating masterpieces. And a bow for this documentary! ❤

“May the Force be with you.” It’s not an exaggeration to say that without The Empire Strikes Back the Star Wars saga and its sequels would not be what they are today. It’s a masterful bit of worldbuilding and character development, equal parts mood piece and classic Hollywood adventure. It’s an exciting chase, but also a spiritual journey, and it represents for me everything that makes the Star Wars films more than just another science fiction series and a grand example of the rich and rewarding possibilities of popular filmmaking. 10 out of 10 Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back (1980, USA) Directed by Irvin Kershner; screenplay by Leigh Brackett and Lawrence Kasdan based on a story by George Lucas; starring Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Billy Dee Williams, Anthony Daniels, David Prowse, Peter Mayhew, Kenny Baker, Frank Oz. This movie was so great because of love for Star Wars by all involved, care and attention to detail, and above all a sense of responsibility to the audience to deliver a product they would love. These things are what's missing in modern films, they want to make propaganda, not entertainment.

One possibility is that Alia (A Leia) was Paul's sister in Dune, so maybe that's where it came from. Personally I think the big reveal in Episode III should have been Leia was Obi-Wan's daughter. Now that would be a result of a love triangle!

Still got this on VHS…… we were so mad on Star Wars back then, we imagined just about every scenario for sequels…. Fortunately our imaginations were limited to the fairy tale and all great models special effects and sets…. so so sad that we now have ‘bait and swoop’, identity politics, woke and virtue signalling …. Never thought I would miss a minute of anything ‘Star Wars’, except the last three films…. Never been Star Wars, never will be and so thankful that I have never seen them! Type in ‘Clapperboard The Empire Strikes Back Special’ on KZbin…. A nice companion to this.
