Star Wars - "The Final Duel" - (fan-made orchestral theme)

Originally i wrote this theme for the Star Wars short "Between Light and Darkness" back in 2009, but was replaced with a different theme. So now I finally decided to finish it.
Lots of ostinatos, heavy brass and choir in this one. The trumpet section sure has work to do =)

Morten Malvik. No sir thank you. Through this song you can feel only what a true fan of star wars can . a deep meaning and understanding of this song. Everyone sees it differently. But as i hear it i can see the struggle of two powers to gain the upper hand. You can feel the tension amd sense of desperation of the two powers...evil vs good. The darkness vs the light. Thanks! Yes, maybe you're right. The original title of the piece was "The Battle of the Brothers", so it was basically written as a "tragic" fighting theme, particulary the end of it depicting two brothers who fight and the downfall of one of them...

And as two beliefs start their final confrontation upon the apex of both's failures, Malachor V stirs its storms unto the areas surrounding the two. The Sith Emperor, watching from afar, does not realize the magnitude of this battle yet, but soon will. And as the lightsabers clash, so to the beliefs as a whole. None realize the horror coming, approaching from outside the galaxy, a horror that has taken control of an artifact thought lost after the Jedi Civil War, an instrument of doom. Before the fight was over, the Sith Emperor interjected, finishing them both with all his might, for he has succeeded. But... he realized far too late. As the fleet of monstrous ships approached, seemingly unaffected by Malachor, the Emperor's powers diminished, until they were but a shadow of his former powers, an empty husk. What could have caused such disturbance? Such devastation that it warps and drains the Force where ever it goes? Those born without the Force, those born to leech off it, to kill it, have arrived. And even though they kill the Force around them, they spare life as a whole. Much to the dismay of the Galaxy... *The Star Forge stands, producing machinations previously unheard of, upgraded by its new overlords. It has became integral. The Sith, the Jedi, both beliefs, undone by their true mistake: not understanding the Force, before it was too late.*

John Williams created some iconic themes that we all love, I wouldn't want to even attempt "remixing" those. I'm glad you like it so much! I feel Michael Giacchino did a very good job on Rouge One, I think Disney are covered :-P haha

Amazing, wonderful, dramatic, epic, it seems that two brothers are fighting a battle that will decide the balance of power, and then Luke Skywalker, their master, appears to save the good brother, and then Luke dies. That's great, thank you! I use samples from EastWest and ProjectSam mostly. The choir-plugin is Symphonic Choirs from EastWest. It's very good, but needs some tweaking to get the sound right. It actually has a word-builder that will make the choir sing words, not just ohhs and ahhs =)

How do you compose these tracks?

TrueGamer79 I sit down at the piano, developig some themes. Often it develops in my head first, sometimes it happens when I'm playing and improvising. Then I go to a software called Cubase where I orchestrate the theme using various orchestral sample/soundlibraries. Track by track, instrument by instrument. =)

I don't have any formal education in music. No one hires a amateur-composer for professional TV, films or games. I get some low-budget jobs. I guess everyone needs to start somewhere =) It's difficult to get noticed. And I'm trying to combine it with full-time job and family-life.
