This is an excellent improvement. I love how characters like Finn, Poe and Phasma all had more to do and weren’t sidelined like they were in the original. Hux wasn’t turned into a major buffoon which I greatly appreciate. However, I still felt Luke was quite out of character in the first half. I did see moderate improvement in his justification for leaving, but he was still too reluctant to help the Resistance. I think an interesting way to have done Luke’s apparent change of character and “Time for the Jedi to end” facade was if he was testing Rey’s patience, parallel to Yoda pretending to be a random hobo to test Luke in Empire Strikes Back. In truth, he truly was hiding away, but not to die, but he was covertly traveling across the galaxy training and seeking guidance from force ghosts of the past Jedi at the ruins of old Jedi Temples. I think that could’ve potentially been more interesting. I’m so glad you cut out the Canto Bight stuff and gave a more meaningful place in the story for the other characters and didn’t do that terrible slow space chase the original had. Snoke being a former friend of Luke that betrayed him and was twisting Kylo’s mind under Luke’s nose was a rather neat backstory for him. The hyperspace ram was still a poor idea and completely breaks the lore and stakes of future space battles. However, I do enjoy the fact that it was Ackbar was the one that did it, and it could be inferred that his “May the force be with us” line is a slight indication that the force was on his side and he influenced the ram to happen, despite the one in a million shot. Personally, I’d wish he’d had just drove the Raddus into the Supremacy, parallels to what the downed A Wing Fighter did to the Star Destroyer in Return of the Jedi. Though there’s the fact that his name is Ackbar and sacrificing himself by flying into a ship which is a little awkward. Bringing Palpatine back for 9 is definitely an odd choice, but I have a feeling you will make it make a little more sense and have it be less stupid. I personally think that leaving Snoke alive for the final part would’ve been the way to go. But it’s your interpretation. I’m just giving my two cents. I look forward to see what you do next!

Thank you for your interest and critiques. Luke Skywalker's arc in the first half is pretty much the same since I did enjoy that aspect of TLJ (well the idea that is) and the redemption that follows. However, his reasoning for pushing away Rey (The Child) is not because of cowardice but because he felt he knew who she was within the Force. He knew the child was connected to Mara Jade, the woman who saved her and Luke sees the same within Rey. Luke had only been on the island for approximately 4 years, having left the map in Lor San Tekka's possession in case he was ever in a 'bind'. The same time, Lukas Morren is otherwise known as Snoke, and the First Order were beginning their conquest of New Republic systems. Ahch-to was his meditation, the place he came to rest within the Force. But since Mara Jade was killed by Snoke, Luke had become even more jaded than when Kylo took down the temple and decided to hide away. The child of course had been saved by Mara and given to Unkar Plutt (this was 8 years prior), who then allowed her to graze on Jakku. Luke had allowed fear to conquer him and he allowed ignorance to consume him over his 4-year isolation. Luke continues to question why the Child as a baby had been in the possession of the Sith Troopers, before Mara Jade raised her for the next 8 years of her life, that question may be answered soon.
@doodledangernoodle25172 жыл бұрын
That makes a bit more sense. However I still feel Luke abandoning the resistance and his sister for 30 years is completely out of character. the main other things like Yoda using force lightning and telling Luke the same lesson he learned in the OT about how failure is a great teacher, the hyperspace ram, and Palpatine returning definitely were things that could’ve been removed imo.

This is crazy how much better this is then what we got with the original version. It shows that director could've had what he envisioned without destroying the legacy. Luke is a bitter and hesitant but actually teaches her and has his own little character arch. Rey is not a Mary Sue, Finn and Poe have some buddy cop mission, Leia is a leader, we have Lando appearence making sense. Luke's failure being trying to be too understanding and otimistic and good and naive makes so much more sense. What a brilliant movie would that be! One thing I wanted since The Force Awakens was to make Luke Rey's father. When he defeats her and she asks him he says "Rey, I am your father". I love this script. I hope one day fans and some special effects guy like PixelJoker would make a live action fan movie out of your script.

I am an old guy in my late 40s. I've been following Star Wars since I was three, and of course I was as happy as can be when Episode 7 came out, which I found extremely enjoyable as a movie. I had a lot of expectations for Episode 8, but when I walked out of the theater I felt as if they had killed an old friend in front of me and I hadn't been able to do anything to save him. Episode 9 I saw just for completeness, but in the end it is little stuff, maybe even worse than 8. A few days ago I came across your channel while googling for images of Plagueis and saw your work. I immediately realized that there is talent here, especially when I saw that you recreated several things following the style of KOTOR. So tonight I put your episode 8 on TV and watched it. And I was moved. You managed to do what Disney's should have done, within your means, and it was an incredible journey. You took out all the awkward stuff and fixed a lousy script with careful detail, thoughtful, Lucas-style dialogue, but most of all by giving depth to Luke Skywalker, who is now the Jedi knight who so many years ago made me realize that you can always choose good, even in the face of absolute evil. I thank you with all my heart, keep on with your project. I am looking forward to Episode 9. May the Force be with you ❤ Gabriele from Italy

As an aspiring writer, I love this. This project is a master class in how even slight edits to the execution of a story can drastically alter how that story comes across to an audience. Certain elements that I strongly disliked in the original, such as grumpy Luke, I actually didn't mind as much in this version because you tweaked the surrounding context to make those elements feel more justified. You also did a better job of delivering the main themes than the original work. Most of the themes in the film were good in themselves; where it all fell apart was the execution of how those themes were presented to the audience. You improved on the execution, which made the message of certain scenes (like Kylo & Rey's "kill the past" conversation) make much more sense than in the original version. In addition to being an impressive fan project, this is honestly such a fantastic learning tool for growing and emerging writers navigating the ins and outs of how to tell a story effectively. Wonderful job 🎉

Oh my... This was AMAZING!!!!!!!!! I loved every second of it - you gave all the characters meaning and I loved how you actually made the dialogue kind of 'rhyme' with previous dialogue like how Sidious was explaining how the dark side of the force leads to many abilities! I also would like to highlight from my own interpretation that in a way you made Luke's exile kind of parallel Obi-wans exile, as the message from princess Leia were both factors which led them both fighting for the good again. Overall, I wish this was more popular, well done!

As a stand-alone concept work, this animation was interesting to follow. If this is really supposed to be considered a continuation of what we received in 2015, there were some problems with its internal consistency and the story as a continuation: - Poe complimented Finn for being clever when BB-8 was the clever one. 16:49- Rey called Maz Luke's old acquaintance. There was no reason for Rey to know Luke gave it to Maz, especially given with what she knew from TFA. 24:45- Snoke already sensed an awakening in 7 and was aware of Rey's power, so bringing it up again as though it was new discovery was odd. 25:22 - Kylo asked Snoke about what he wanted him to do with Skywalker when Snoke already established he wanted Skywalker to be snuffed out (see 24:38). 31:31 - Rey did not see Luke's daily routine (unless it was just him walking around the island). 32:19- Leia demoting Poe and Finn for following her orders (4:38) not only sets her up like a jerk in the eyes of the Resistance (even if she is pretending), but then makes less sense when she calls Poe and Finn's actions "dangerous stunts" or "fly boy antics", as though they disobeyed orders or were taking risks that were not worth it. (33:25) 33:48 - Jyrren's inclusion made a predictable "twist". If there's a spy with the Resistance then Hux leaving Phasma to track Poe and Finn to the base makes no sense since the spy could just relay information (which we see later with Snoke). 37:35 - C-3PO has a red arm even though he didn't have one at the end of TFA. 39:17- Kylo's monologue and Vader and Kylo's conversation was a repeat of Snoke's conversation, filled with multiple flashbacks. 43:02- Ren doesn't love Rey; he understood her feelings from interrogating her, but Rey hates Kylo Ren, which is why she cut his face when he was attempting to turn her to the dark side and is why she's angry when she first sees him through their Force bond. So for Vader to say "her feelings for you are strong" (44:26) seems contradictory, especially when you see her being angry at him in the first interaction within this animation. - "Who goes there?" Luke could recognize Vader's presence on a Destroyer, but not Rey's when she's right behind him? - If meditation helps him get away from Rey, then why did he think she was gone? - The New Republic was destroyed in TFA, as shown when Hux yelled "remember this as the Last Day of the Republic!!" - Two "I have a bad feeling about this" lines within seconds of each other. - Morin is talked about, but then Luke talks about Snoke turning Ben before revealing Snoke was Morin. - How could Luke have defeated Snoke, and yet Snoke can leave the Luke's academy assuming Luke was dead? - When did Rey and Kylo touch hands to see each other's futures? - Snoke: "I will look into your power, then kill you with the cruelest stroke", then he says the next line, "You will be a great Sith.", meaning he was going to spare Rey. *Please note these are merely flaws I want to point out to help improve your next installment.* Good luck!
@EverestProductionsFanFilms2 жыл бұрын
This was also the first script I ever wrote back in 2019, I did not change anything in the director's cut other than replacing some voice actors. I am working on an episode 7 rewrite that adds minor things for consistency but the overall story of TFA is not changed so much. 1 - Was a script mistake 2 - Rey made an assumption that they were acquaintances. Luke never clarified it or dived why he lost the lightsaber. 3 - Snoke is just reiterating how powerful the awakening felt. 4. Snoke clearly wanted the priority now on Rey, whereas Luke became the side quest. 5. Not an inconsistency. Because of the limited animation, could not show Luke doing stuff but I figured there was another way to look at it. Luke had a routine around the island that Rey followed like in TLJ but unlike the part where he drinks milk or fish, Luke was actually in his thoughts most of the time and just wanders the island in a circle when he is not in his hut. He was also aware of Rey and felt she would eventually give up and leave. 6. Leia acted the way she did as an 'authority', as well as disappointing Poe for Jyrren's entertainment. Again, she suspected the spy and immediately assumed it was Jyrren. 7. This was intentional, as a callback to the character of Admiral Holdo. I hated Holdo's actions as she should have been a spy so I reversed the course by making Jyrren a predictable villain. Having Jyrren be the most predictable villain is a fun inclusion on its own. Also, Snoke was testing Hux's incompetence, he didn't care who had the information or not. He wanted to see if Hux's trump card (Phasma) could do the job. That being said, Jyrren did not know about Luke's island as he was not present at the map connection. Finn only knew because it can be assumed Poe recapped everything for him after his healing process. 8. If you've not got the connection, Vader IS reiterating what Snoke says to a greater degree. (spoiler) Vader is not THE Vader, but another manipulation to push Ren towards the goals he is set to. 9. I kind of don't understand this, in the original TLJ it is clear that Kylo has some interest in Rey to a degree whereas she doesn't? He takes interest in her power and herself but it's all dubious. But this is once again 'Vader' striking Kylo from all points within his mind to follow his instructions. He doesn't tell Kylo he loves her, he ACCUSES him of falling for her and he should destroy her and Snoke before it's too late. 10. As this is not Vader, Luke would not sense it, as well as him limiting his force abilities on Ahch-To. Also, this manipulation could be said to have a Force mask ability, preventing anyone else including Snoke from discovering its existence. 11. He knew she was still there, again this is just him being spiteful. Her persistence annoys the hell out of him. 12. In Revitalized canon, Coruscant is once again the core of the galaxy with The New Republic serving as the base of operations whereas Hosnia Prime was a major Republic system chosen for Starkiller Base. Hosnia was the centerpiece of many financial institutions which funded the New Republic and the system's destruction devastated the New Republic financially. 13. Script grammar. I wasn't able to make any edits but tbh the repeating lines show how much I improved since then writing-wise so I see it's charming. 14. He is simply looking back. 15. This is a change to the backstory as well as the timeline. Luke was still active after the Temple burning, he only recently disappeared 5 years prior. It can be assumed he still fought Snoke and the KoR during that time. 16. When she took his hand to the shuttle. 17. Snoke was just playing with her emotions, feeding her anger. She's too vulnerable which is why he wants her to get killed by Kylo. 18. I forgot CP3O's arm was golden at the end of TFA. I hope a lot of these make more sense and filled in those gaps. I'll be happy to answer any more questions - LK

THIS SHIT IS FAR BETTER THAN THE ACTUAL MOVIE. THANK YOU, MY FRIEND.

Wow, a much better plot and over all story than what we got. This is what 'The last Jedi' should have been. Great Job and I am excited to watch your version of The Rise of Skywalker right away.

I’ll say this, it’s Really good. This is how the movie should’ve really been.

I wasn’t sure about this,but now after watching this. Wow this is definitive version that we should’ve gotten in theaters.

1:24:22 this makes way more sense because it's not like there's something Luke could've prevented by trying to get to the bottom of Ben's darkness. Ben already destroyed the Jedi temple and everything Luke accomplished.

I was expecting Darth Plagueis maybe a Flashback or something cause of Plagueis's theme 1:17:48

I like the thematic inversion to TFA from Rey’s capture. Here in this version of TLJ, Rey willingly joins Kylo Ren to figure out her identity.

This was just simply beautiful 🤩 please tell me kylo gets sith eyes in the rise of Skywalker remake?

Sorry slightly odd question but can this be listened to as an audio production without the visuals? Got a long car journey coming up and this would be ideal for the road if so.

I loved the title crawl. Just 1 edit. The last part, just write, the brave heroes continue to defend thier position. And continue thier search for the elusive Jedi Master, LUKE SKYWALKER.

If only if only if only! Now this is what I call a cohesive story… characters with an ark.. plot twist at the right moments, no Mary sue! With a few shoots and whatever they have on the cutting room floor, they could actually make this version! it just goes to show the creativity of the fans against the disorganised mess which is Lucasfilm it’s writers directors and producers! Great work, very very well done

This is amazing, but I'm curious, is there a Force Awakens Revitalized too? Or did you start with Last Jedi?

I started with TLJ, a TFA may came later but its more or less similar to the original movie.

It was a very good movie but we did not see the moving's mouths of these characters in this video and also i found that characters were rigids too. I love this story and it was very good made too. Good job.

Dude this so good. miles better than any fan edit I could come across. I have a few questions tho regarding the plot that maybe i missed while watching, but mainly its this, Why didn't Luke realize who Rey was once she told him her name? Why did it take for him half of the movie to realize that she was the child Luke took in with his wife?

He had a hunch but was in denial. He wanted her to leave because he was afraid of the truth (which he eventually relentless and accepts from ben)
