Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker Trailer Reaction: We Got Emotional!

The final Star Wars The Rise of Skywalker trailer came out tonight and we decided to film our first ever trailer reaction. With Star Wars Episode 9 only two months away, the anticipation is running high in our household and we cannot be more excited! One thing we did not expect to cry while watching this Rise of Skywalker final trailer. We both cried! I don’t know if it’s because the saga is finally coming to an end or if JJ Abrams just makes amazing trailers that make people cry. I can’t wait to watch this trailer 100 more times before the movie comes out! I have so many questions! What’s that ice planet? What’s wrong with C3PO? Is the Emperor still alive? What happens in that epic water battle at the sunken Death Star?! Who’s that girl on the horse?? Ahhhhhh... I can’t wait! Are you just as excited about the new movie as we are?! As the official old fart of the group, I remember spending a month of Saturday’s at the theatre back in ‘77. From 10 am till around 6p, (no one ever checked back then), and my mom didn’t understand the appeal. FF to today, and I’m glad I’m not the only one with running mascara.

OG star wars fan here too. We stood in a line for more than 4 hours to get in to see it in 1978 -which is when it was released in Australia. The trailer looked epic-apparently the movie is 155 minutes long.

IN '77 My father saw it by himself at the Manns Chinese Theater in Hollywood one afternoon. Blown away, he rushed back home, picked up my sister and myself and took us to back to the theater to share the move with us. I've been a serious Star Wars geek ever since. He died early this year--i wish he was still here to share this last one. (He saw ALL the movies at the theater and even loved Last Jedi).

I'm not ashamed to admit it - I'm crying like a baby for several reasons. I'm so anxious to see the Ghost again, cuz Rebels helped me get thru my wife's death, and seeing it again is happy-jarring to me. Hoping to see a grown-up Jacen Syndulla! Palpatine is back! Can his evil EVER be destroyed?! And yes, I'm also shedding some tears that we're likely going to lose Threepio. After 11 movies (I'm also counting his cameo in Rogue One, and the Holiday Special), and three series (Droids, The Clone Wars, Rebels), the thought of losing such another central character is extremely emotional. For someone who grew up with Star Wars instead of Sesame Street, this may be like losing one of your oldest friends.

I’m glad to see people doing reaction videos on this film. I had the awesome chance to work on The Last Jedi and of course The Rise Of Skywalker right along side of Rian Johnson and J.J Abrams. And After almost 2 years of Star Wars- The Rise Of Skywalker to be made. So emotional man.. I was a little nervous about this one but I'm super excited especially with the movie coming out right around the corner. Balance is finally coming to the universe after at least 7 movies. And Mandalorian too! And The end of the saga.. man Idk how i feel about that. . You should understand the reason for 3PO to be gone at this movie, it’s obvious: he’s the only character and actor that has been through the whole saga, the 9 movies, so it is symbolic for him to be gone at this last movie just like the very same saga.

The other "half" of the fanbase today is all like: "Ruin Johnson and Jar Jar Abrams destroyed Star Wars... I don't believe any of this. I hate it all. SJW Star Wars sucks. They only used Han as candy to get fans in seats. Then killed him. He had no real role or place in the movie except for nostalgia. They made Luke a wimpy recluse. Where was the strong Jedi willing to fight evil? They made every strong character a female and all the males were either bumbling idiots or the bad guys. The main character in Rey is bland with no back story. No real reason to care about her or her plight. Disney is using nostalgia as candy to lure in fans who then get a garbage story. Disney never once took the original characters and put them together for anything meaningful in the story. They just placed them in the movie to get fans in seats and then killed them off.

Guys hating 3PO leaving.... Guys, these people were in their 20's - 30's when I was born in 1978. I am now 41. They cannot last forever. Whether by story or by life. I can agree it is killing me to say goodbye to my childhood....Han, Luke, Leia, Chewy....I mean it tears the older generation apart. But I know it HAS to go forward. Even a Protocol Droid cannot last forever.

They seem to need a show runner. The first 2 movies of this trilogy did not seem very related. I want to see the new one... but it does not feel like there is a particular story to end. A very epic trailer. Teared up for C-3PO and how R-2 D-2 reacted. Hopefully they did a back up to his memories so they can reinstall them. The big black rock that Kilo and Rey shattered, looked like Darth Vader burned suit or a statue. I'm sold. On these two points alone. Now the merchandise is the next epic reveal. Total nerd here but we had a project in the UK to restore a plane which then got retired - the moto was then "dont cry because its over - smile because it happened" - seems kind of appropriate here. The trailer has kind of got me excited for this - I was somewhat disillusioned with the Last Jedi - and now I finally had some chills watching this. Something to do with the tears hugging "Leia" I guess. What I love is its coming out on my daughters 21st birthday - and I saw the original on my 12th (21st April) - so its also a lovely closure. Not long to go now then!

I didn’t get goosebumps watching the trailer, but I got goosebumps watching other people watch the trailer. I’m sad that it doesn’t do it for me anymore, but I’m very happy it gives other people that feeling still. The 3po thing just doesn’t make sense to me, are they going to build a relationship with the new characters in just the beginning of this movie? Idk. Got tickets though and looking forward to it. But it’s just not the same. Hopefully this one movie can make the sequels feel more cohesive to me.

3po will be fine. He’s always been dramatic about that stuff. When he fell off the cliff when Luke found ObiWan. He got that way when the Jawas opened the door. He was on that mission with R2D2 to get Han back from the carbonite. Besides if he does it will be a noble sacrifice.

I am really late to the party just watched the trailer for this movie the first time right before watching this one I cried too so amazing I’m going to see it tomorrow my wife is taking me for my birthday I’m so excited

I particularly like that trailer kind of showed a lot of different things and since it is the end of the Skywalker trilogy a point that I don't know how many people caught on or not but C-3PO was created by Annie also known as Anakin Skywalker so therefore if it's the end of the trilogy to bring an end to C-3PO would be a logical conclusion as well everything that's Skywalker got to go and therefore so go C-3PO I also got a bit emotional to myself just stating a point

Wow the trailer looks really good maybe rei gets someone from lukes jedi camp to train her?? That would be something to see cant wait for this movie
