I'm really glad we got this figure and I love the card back, but I agree that I really wish they used the VC149/TLJ R2-D2 sculpt. Hoping for a rerelease of the X-Wing someday to go with it!

Thanks for this video I have a few of them and a few Antoc Merrick X wings. I may use some masking tape to snug up the droid slot on the one I open so he don’t fall out and rattle around. Again great videos you put out. Get the word out and let’s get a proper N1 Hot Rod Naboo fighter for the Mandalorian!

the wings on your x-wing are assembled backwards! look at the box to see the correct orientation of the markings

I did a vid on this, too, as a follow up to my discussion of the overall reuse of the BarToo-D2 figure. I HATE this mold, I hate the sensor scope and middle leg being so at odds you can't have both retracted (as you would in an X-wing). But I also point out how the X-Wing was Christmas 2021 gift from my wife AND IT'S INCOMPLETE WITHOUT THE DROID! And we didn't get the droid until almost a year later, and that after YET ANOTHER PRE-ORDER! At the price point for the X-Wing, the droid should have been included.

Of all the Droids we need in TVC, (Well, on card anyway) this is a wierd one, and a flawed mold. It works for the sensorscope R2D2 (sort of) but that figure was design with that feature in mind. Nice vid BB

Why did he go out of stock so quickly? Turns out it was a limited release with pulse and third party retailer exclusivity (of course, not available in my country as a result). I have missed out, I wish there was information about that available and accessible.

My son wanted to get me and my wife a build a droid at Disney Star Wars land when he went there. I designed basically the exact same droid not knowing how this one looked. Except you had to do it with clear dome for the black trim. My wife designed basically the opposite. Black droid with red red trim red dome that only came with white trim. We didn’t look at each other’s mock ups given the pieces they offered at the time. How cool is that!🎉

This combo is special. Cool vehicle (although wings suck). Amazing figure and a funky odd droid. Took some work putting this all together….fun and nice deep cut trifecta of items.

Good to know (or maybe not good) that’s it’s not just my droid that can’t keep his chest plate door closed once it is opened. Hope this droid (and the ESB R2) is the last time we see this mold.

Glad we got this figure but really wouldn't have be hard to use the other R2 mould. That door is annoying. Also we had to pay extra for this repack figure which was another thing we weren't happy about! Does look great in the X-Wing though & displayed with Bigg's!

Ha! I thought that band was meant to come off. Just ordered this droid to go with my x wing. Oh well! I got it relatively cheap. Glad I planned on opening it because it came in the blister with no card at all. Again I got it for less than $10. He's meant to just live in his droid slot anyway so it's not a big deal. Sort of related. The canopy on my x wing seems warped or undersized. Again oh well!

My R2-SHW has a faulty periscope, with the periscope inside you are unable to turn the head, push up the centre leg and the periscope ejects from the head. Very poor quality on this one.

Just opened mine today to finally park him in his slot on Merrick’s X-Wing. But I agree with your assessment that this droid is trash. Hasbro cut corners once again using an incredibly old and outdated sculpt from over 20 years ago with multiple design flaws as you point out. And then they have the nerve to charge $16.99 for this tiny droid adding to the pain. So put this one in the major rip off category that Hasbro once again got away with. Granted they’ve been giving us some really great figures and sculpts lately, but every once in a while they steal our money. For those that never got Merrick’s ship (a Target exclusive here in the states that never had an official preorder date or window, and if I recall it popped online for a brief period between the hours of 3-5AM EST for one day, and that was it!!…🤦🏻‍♂️), and that probably includes 99% of collectors, this is an easy pass. Save your money people.

Far too much nit picking if you ask me, I'd argue 99% of open collectors would have this permanently in the X Wing slot so although I agree about the fact that they could've used a different sculpt, it doesn't really matter that much and as for the artwork, what were they supposed to do when official stills don't exist....? 🤦‍♂️

It requires more work than that. You could glue the Sensor Scope in, but then you can't retract the leg all the way. The only way would be to cut off the shaft of the scope and glue in the cap. And, yeah, you'll have to glue in the middle leg because it's so loose, it falls out like the droid is incontinent. 'Course, then you can NEVER display it out of ship with the middle leg.

Garbage figure. Just a lazy repaint by Hasbro. I’m sure they only did it because they were already using this crappy mold in production for the ESB R2-D2.The only good thing about this figure is having it carded next to a carded Antoc. This is one you can save some money on and don’t buy one to open, just get one to keep carded.
