The snowspeeder was the most little seen craft but such a brilliant vehicle!!!!! The airbrakes, the tow cable, a two man crew! Just awesome!!!!!!

The snowspeeder was always my 3rd favorite star wars vehicle. I always preferred the Y-Wing, but never had a toy of it as a child (I grew up in the 2010s, so Hasbro weren't making Y-Wings as much.) The X-Wing was my first ship, and my second favorite. The Snowspeeder toy that I got was always fun, especially with the working tow cable so I could recreate my favorite hoth scenes, as I was already using an imaginext space shuttle docking port as my bespin. Most of my toys were from empire, so I always favored that movie and it's veichles whenever playing. I still have most of the old toys from back then, and once I get home from my trip to DC I plan on revisiting the old toys, even just to pretend like I'm a little kid again.

Love the show! I totally referbed an imperial shuttle and repainted it in the modern style. People actually produce the wing mechanism new and improved now.

I am Juan. This is my snowspeeder, which I still have. I was showing this to a friend a mine who traded HIS childhood Slave 1 to me for some old metal cassettes. Watching this again, I really played with this toy. I think what happened to the back piece was that I would just put this back in my toy trunk. That trunk was full of toys and I would just throw or put things back in it. So basically a pile of toys. I think it just broke off while under all that pile. Probably how the other pieces fell off too.

I love the T-47 Airspeeder,but it became snowspeeder after the rebel alliance adapted it to the extreme cold of the planet Hoth. That's why I Han asked if the snowspeeders were ready yet.. Keep up the great work.👍

Mike I gotta give you alot of credit for these restoration projects. You seem to have the same passion I see in Rick Dell. He's owner/operater of Rick's Restorations in Las Vegas, on the History CHannel he's hosts American Rstorations. Dell & his team restore classic vending machines, popcorn machines, arcade games, riding push cars for kids, a ton of classic Pepsi & Coke machines, and even cars on occasion, and thats not even a tenth of his projects. Rick Harrison from Pawn Stars uses Dells services alot and thats how Dell got his own show. He says the same thing about seeing whats there & what it can be, and when a special project for sentimenal reasons comes up they put in the extra TLC. Listening to you reminded me of that. Keep up the good work.

Lol neither do I but maybe Kevin Smith & his Comic Book Men on AMC cause they do get old toys on occasion.

The idea of taking a picture of the electronics before you removed them was so simple, yet brilliant! Also, I cannot believe how well that Snowspeeder cleaned up!!

Thank You! Have you seen the Funko 3'' 3/4 inch Alien figures. I was hesitant to pick them up, cause I am still trying to get rid of the Kenner "Aliens" from the early 90s. But I had too because this comic book store was 25% off the funko figures and that film is one of my favorites.

Careful application of a heat gun to "whitened" stress areas on plastic make them the correct color again. It takes practice and patience. I fixed a set of Vader Tie Fighter wings in this manner.

There's an electronics one that is made for shrink tubing, you have to make passes almost like spray painting.

I pre-soak decals / stickers with Goo Gone to accelerate the cleaning process.
@MJKToys10 жыл бұрын
I use a q-tip. just apply to the top of the sticker. It works really well if ther gloss is gone. you can use Simple Green as well, but it will eat up paint.

Another nice job! My friend had this. I always wanted one. I finally got around to it a number of years ago on eBay. It got 'lost' in customs - dooh. This one had the best SFX and lights out of al of them they've made imho. I have the Target Exclusive from a while back. The paint job doesn't look quite right and no SFX. It has a cool package and came with Zev Senesca though. this one's still the best.

Getting those battery contacts off is really tricky. I very carefully tried one last week using the same method here and promptly snapped the post right off. So, now I need to figure out how to fix that. I don't recommend taking them off. The wire connectors can be removed very easily along with the motor. That leaves only the contacts. It is perfectly fine to get these wet in the cleaning phase provided they are given enough time to dry.
@seabasscardsandcomics42647 жыл бұрын
I did the same thing. Anyway to hold the contact down with a broken tab?

I could only get either motor moving or lights to come on, getting that contact in a perfect spot is tough.

I have to admit, the discoloration actually looks pretty neat, like a more screen-accurate, weathered model. In your Falcon restoration video, you had picked up the 2004 reissue of the Falcon. I assume you've seen the 2004/5 Rebel Armored Snowspeeder? THAT was probably my favorite of all the re-released vehicles based on the original Kenner molds. Lots of extra details added, and great sounds.

The cleaning job was amazing. Sadly my original snowspeeder ended up in about the same condition as Juan's, including the back coming off.

I have to say...and I know this is a very old video, but all my life I thought the sound from the Kenner Star Wars toys (still got mine! :) ) was made by a piezo (buzzer). Not a motor!

I just picked up a snowspeeder off of ebay for $110 it came with it's box instructions, toy catalog, and cardboard, and all of it's decals properly applied in the right areas. There is one issue one of the teeth that hold the cockpit canopy is broken off. Is that a big issue. It can be propped up though with Luke's hand like on the box.

I loved the snow speeder. But something always bothered me about it. Why would it be SNOW speeder. As an air craft or a space ship it doesn't seem there's anything relavent about snow. It could just as easily been a wedge fighter or something, backing up X Wings B Wings & A Wings. And even Speeder seems redundant as all ships are speedy. So why not then call it a Snow Fighter? I've always pondered this point.. Also the shape seems inspired by the F 117 stealth bomber. In 1980 it would have been a top secret aircraft for the "Have Blue" program. Its like someone designing for George Lucas might have had clearance or saw plans for the F 117 Night Hawk when it was just a UFO buzzing LasVegas.
