Don't buy fake licenses! Explore a little more and do NPC quests! You'll get a lot more diverse cast of crew members and get ship upgrades every 2 members. It's a lot more fun than just farming pixels every episode.

Playing as a floran will help out in the long run. The ship will eventually have a little greenhouse to grow food that you will need for hunger. It's also a good source of money!

Just watched this for the first time 4 years after this came out. I have to say I loved every minute of this. Starbound is one of those things where it's not very repayable. Maybe every few years. But watching you play it for the first time was absolutely fantastic.

Chippy there's so much you haven't done yet! that quest by the Hylotl that's at the Ark, the quest in which you fight the second penguin boss (a robot), all the pet stuff, fossil discovering and displaying, upgrading the ship a few more times, finding the translation wheels and unlocking the translation codex, you hadn't visited scorched city planets or toxic ocean planets yet, created your own sign at the outpost, bought all the tech upgrades and a tech console, built a wiring station and a rail crafting station and wired things together, purchased a boat and travelled the sea in style, all the other crafting stations like pixel printers and refineries etc, finding the human mech (WHICH IS AWESOME), editing the ships layout, buying more farm animals and so so so much more!

Hey chippy, there is a mod called Frackin' Universe and it adds A LOT of new content. If you ever play a third season, I strongly recommend you use this mod!

okay, let me tell you something. starbound got updated and its 2018 (the year it was when this comment was made) and you need to do season 2. you probably forgot about this game anyways. >:C once you beat the game this mysterious guy in a purple robe with a hoodie and red glowing eyes appears in the outpost, find him and then interact with him. he will want a random object of a random amount to trade for a "vault key" once you have traded a vault key go to your spaceship and fly to a floating gateway. not the one on the first planet you went to in season one, an actual gateway that you can find in random stars. once a gateway is activated, there will be a timer of how long you get to stay on the other side of the portal that is opened. go in and smash and kill everything, they will drop ancient essence which is now a new type of currency that you WILL need. a random gateway leads to differently chosen biomes in the ancient dungeons that you get to. when you find the final minibos, kill it (which will be very hard, and go learn how to do it yerself) and it will drop a "microformer" and 1000 essence (my estimate). then when you leave there will be a big console and a anvil, the anvil is for upgrading certain special weapons and the big console is for getting planet transformers. now that you left with your awesome loot, go find a planet (any planet) and place a microformer or planet transformer (microformer changes only a little space and planet transformer actually needs A LOT of essence) on the planet you chose and then interact with it to start your process. yep, thats an actual good update on a really good game you've forgotten that you need to see. mmmkey gudbyeh

I suggest that you should not buy fake licenses and also, you should make sure to add all kinds of world changing mods. Fracking universe and races... several race mods and other mods that create new dungeons or planets for you to explore. I also suggest one goal as well as your goal for a full ship is also to create a full colony with at least one building dedicated to each race you discover, to give the challenge that you need to understand each race and how they work.

Hey James i know why You do not play Starbound anymore but acctually If You play diferent races can change from a little to a Lot in the gameplay, like novakids cannot craft any meele weapons they can only craft guns

Chippy, you should check out the frackin' universe mod. It's currently the biggest mod in starbound. It adds like 50+ new biomes, new star types, and an entire new planet difficulty called unreal. Plus there is just tons of new ores and weapons. I HIGHLY recommend checking it out. The mod is really polished and high quality too. It adds so much to the game and adds a lot more play-ability.

I just realized this now, playing Starbound 2 and 1/2 times, but Esther took Asra to a planet orbiting a remote star, so what if it's the same planet you start on? I'm not usually one for game theories, but what if Asra actually wanted to destroy the Ruin, but wasn't able to, and instead started you on the journey by destroying earth, and programming the ship to navigate to the starter planet? Then she wanted you (I mean Red in this case) to go through that entire journey to get rid of the ruin? I'm sure there's plotholes in this, so point them out to me pls.

Survival mode isnt that hard but it makes you get your important needs and youll drop all your items on death. Hardcore on the other hand means dont die or your character is gone.

You should try Don't Starve. It has many great mods available, and 2 DLCs. The game by itself is fun, too. It's 15 US dollars on Steam. I don't know how many British pounds, though.
