Though I do love both of those decks mainly because me and my friend made both coincidentally as we both challenged ourselves to make an edh deck for under 40$ he made blind seer I made Patron of the Moon. It was rather funny to make them as we each spent about 70% of the budget on lens, caged sun, and stuff of that nature. The rest of the cards in the decks were literal pennies and bulk. I think the grand total for my deck was 38.75 and his was 37.35.

This was an interesting episode. During the deck techs, it felt like all the decks were rather disparate in power level. I figured Wort would win easily, since it was the only "real" deck. But the game was surprisingly back-and-forth, and it felt like all the decks had a reasonable chance of winning. Glad to see some more unlikely decks getting some screen time.

He never had the ability to do this infinity as it still required him mana to perform the action 2 mana to return 2 lands and 1 to put them into play. Though yes he could have at end of Stevens turn started the mill train as it was only costing him 1 mana to mill someone 6.

@Jeremy Noell @Steven Green I applaud both of you for being able to pilot those decks as well as you did. Both decks are horribly challenging as I play Patron of the Moon, and my friend plays Blind Seer as we both built them for a challenge we did to make decks for under 40$. I know how odd and obscure some of the interactions can be coming into decks like these blind, no pun intended. Also people need to get over peoples misplays they happen it's a part of playing no one is perfect, especially when it's with very odd decks and very odd interactions. Like how many times has changing a cards color permanently, or its color wording been in a game few to none. This isn't for a tournament or some grand prize it's for fun and entertainment, if they mess up so what I can almost promise that everyone has made rules mistakes or misplays at some point or another. If you think you haven't then you aren't growing as a magic player as with how wide and odd some magic interactions have gotten it's near impossible to play perfectly every game and your fooling yourself if you think you are playing perfectly every game. The point is to learn, have fun, and challenge yourself. Also @Jon did blind seer have Tidal Control as that card causes the most chaos any card can with blind seer.

All permanents should have returned to everyone's control when Willbreaker phased out. It's effectively covered in the comp rules. 702.25e. Continuous effects that affect a phased-out permanent may expire while that permanent is phased out. If so, they will no longer affect that permanent once it's phased in. In particular, effects with "for as long as" durations that track that permanent (see rule 611.2b) end when that permanent phases out because they can no longer see it.
@jasonmolisani1864
@jasonmolisani1864 7 жыл бұрын
I was about to say something similar: 702.25b If a permanent phases out, its status changes to “phased out.” Except for rules and effects that specifically mention phased-out permanents, a phased-out permanent is treated as though it does not exist. It can’t affect or be affected by anything else in the game. A permanent that phases out is removed from combat. (See rule 506.4.) Example: You control three creatures, one of which is phased out. You cast a spell that says “Draw a card for each creature you control.” You draw two cards. Stephen wouldn't control the creature and everyone else should get their stuff back. I found this with less than a 5 minute internet search. If you guys took a break to figure this out you should have been able to get it right too.

thing is effects that would affect the phased out permanent stop. effects like 'leaves the battlefield' don't happen as it still is on the battlefield. phasing is weird
@chrisaustin3309
@chrisaustin3309 7 жыл бұрын
If you read the next example it says if you control a phased out permanent and then cast a spell that destroys all creatures then it does not get destroyed. 702.25d The phasing event doesn’t actually cause a permanent to change zones or control, even though it’s treated as though it’s not on the battlefield and not under its controller’s control while it’s phased out. Zone-change triggers don’t trigger when a permanent phases in or out. Tokens continue to exist on the battlefield while phased out. Counters remain on a permanent while it’s phased out. Effects that check a phased-in permanent’s history won’t treat the phasing event as having caused the permanent to leave or enter the battlefield or its controller’s control.
@fatestick
@fatestick 7 жыл бұрын
ThomasEbel27 702.25e is the correct rule citation, and your interpretation is correct. The return of control is not some trigger on Willbreaker, but is the expiration condition of the Willbreaker continuous effect. Those citing the other portions observe correctly that conditional triggers looking for a change of state (particularly, control) do not trigger from phasing (unless specific to phasing), but miss that the effect in question is not of that class.

Couldn't Jeremy have gone near infinite mill by bouncing 2 lands by activating for 1 twice then put the 2 into play for 1 un tapping them... more than just that actually with the thawing glaciers
@jacobmoz1029
@jacobmoz1029 7 жыл бұрын
Jedidiah Suntheimer yes, his general let him pay 1 mana to play two lands, which would be come in untapped due his artifact. He could tap them and float 2, and then return them to his hand using the moonfolk that tapped lands for 2 Mana and returned two lands to his hand. Because of Stephen's heartstone this would only cost one Mana, letting him repeat the cycle with his remaining Mana. He could've completely milled out everyone.
@nathangriffin1424

The tapped land moonfolk cost 1 mana to bounce 1 land, so this is not an infinite combo. You lose 1 mana everytime you do the loop.

even with the extra planer lens he could have gone infinite, because the moonfolk activation cost two mana and for 1 mana he could put two islands in to play untapped with his general which would produce 4 mana. Keep repeating the loop you can mill everyone and have infinite mana, tap everyone's lands, draw infinite cards and play everything.

I was so surprised to see Jeremy not going infinite right before Stephen would've died... heck, even way before that, defeating everyone on their draw step. All islands tapped for 2 blue mana, he had to pay 1 and return 2 islands to activate an ability of the moonfolk, then pay 1 mana to play the 2 returned lands again untapped for his artifact and float 4 mana again while hedron crab milled everyone out.

Ruling on changing a chosen color with Glamerdye (its so obscure that I would have been suprised if they got it right): Glamerdye changes only words actually printed on the spell or permanent (if it’s a card), words that are part of the spell or permanent’s original characteristics as stated by the effect that created it (if it’s a token or a copy of a spell), or words that were granted to the spell or permanent as part of a copy effect. It won’t change words that are granted to the spell or permanent by any other effects. For example, if an Aura grants a creature protection from blue, you can change that to protection from red by targeting the Aura, but not by targeting the creature. Glamerdye also can’t change what color was chosen for a permanent (such as Painter’s Servant) as it entered the battlefield.

You guys should play decks build around certain events in the MtG storyline e.g. Agrus Kos vs. Szadek, vs. Jarad vs Chrous of the Conclave (Ravnica); Sarkhan Vol vs. Nicol Bolas vs. Ugin vs. Narset. And of course something related to a Kamigawa storyline that forces Justin to make a Kamigawa-based deck... Spirits vs. Foxes vs. Rats vs. Moonfok or Ogres. The decks could contain cards from other blocks, but only non-legendaries and the deck would have to be heavily themed around the commander.

According to the deck breakdown on Starcitygames.com, the Blind Seer deck only has 98 cards and the commander.

After seeing the blind seer deck I really want to make one now Edit: I’ve built a pretty fun blind seer just yesterday with some of the same cards from Stephens deck

Did Jeremy really not have a land in hand with Walking atlas in play? he should have been able to block atlas a land in bounce everything and deck Justin on his next turn.

Stephen really should have sacrificed Heartstone to Torment of Scarabs to hamper Jeremy's ability to activate his creature abilities.

Glamerdye couldn't have changed the Shifting Skies to red. Per the Oracle, "Glamerdye also can’t change what color was chosen for a permanent (such as Painter’s Servant) as it entered the battlefield."

I need a decklist for the Blind Seer deck. Looked super sweet and special. Might be my new favorite mono-blue EDH deck. Good Game. A little messy tho.

30 minutes in and this is already freaking hilarious! Jon 10/10, MVP, dont care how it ends cause your awesome. =D Also, with heartstone out didnt Jeremy have an infinite combo? pay 1 to tap a land and return a land, do this twice, then pay 0 for his general to put 2 lands from hand into play and they are untapped due to amulet of vigor plus get 2 mill triggers off of crab. rinse and repeat until everyone is milled out. then take his turn untap and pass and probably just win the game. Upon further inspection i see i am not the only one who caught this. :P

heartstone doesn't reduce the cost to 0 because heartstone only reduces by 1 but cannot reduce to lower than 1

Thanks for a fantastic video! I've seen a lot of 4-person Mill suggestions, and I'm worried there could be difficulties for it. Mill really encourages picking on one person, but I guess y'all could force yourselves to play in non-strategetic ways to keep it fun. But overall I'm not sure it's a good idea. Maybe if you give each person targets who they had to mill out? Also using very creative mill methods. A bunch of decks that just look for high-volume mill combos would be pretty boring though. Love colloseum of randomness! Can't wait to see what other games you have this season.

You guess should do a 5 episode mini series where each week is a color, then everyone makes a mono colored deck. One week is black so everyone has a black deck, etc

Jeremy you still had the creature that puts a land from you'r hand into play and the artifact that untaps it you could have returned all creatures to they're owners hand (look at all situations first) ;)

702.25b If a permanent phases out, its status changes to “phased out.” Except for rules and effects that specifically mention phased-out permanents, a phased-out permanent is treated as though it does not exist. It can’t affect or be affected by anything else in the game. A permanent that phases out is removed from combat. (See rule 506.4.) Example: You control three creatures, one of which is phased out. You cast a spell that says “Draw a card for each creature you control.” You draw two cards.
