Hopeless situation, or an unyielding defense, that tune and the one that follows it sounds to me like a massive Terran defensive line having just wiped out a huge zerg attack, followed by a counter-attack ready to go.

i will never forget the match when the first song played, it was a 4v4 and we were already down 2 men, all i had were 10 banshees and my teammate had a mass amount of marines, next thing you know, 4 nydus worms show up and our bases were flooded with hydras and roaches; had to nuke both our bases. epicness

@tealspikes I like the more dark and epic feel as well. The SC1 music was a nice mix of dark and epic, and southern country style music for Terran. In SC2 it feels like there isn't enough mixing of the two styles.

RhythmicTension always reminds me 2 part of the campaign: the Dig, when you have to cut through the Xel'Naga Temple with an ass-kicking, giant laser, and the Cutthroat, where you must get 6000 mineral faster then Col. Orlan.

Before Arcturus Mengsk's "Dominion", this group was the governing and tyrannical law enforcement system. The Confederacy's forces were divided into "squadrons". The most well-known is the Alpha Squadron, led by General Edmund Duke. Sometime later, Duke sided with Mengsk as part of a deal to earn a better life. Duke was later killed in the Brood War by Kerrigan's swarms.

Everytime I hear it now, I just see kerrigan standing all alone surrounded by zerg looking hurt and betrayed. I can't stop listening to it. The other themes are decent. But the first one takes the cake by a long shot.

@xSwirLY13x Could be pride in heritage, because technically the American Confederacy was seen as a "force of change" and a "rebel group", sort of how the Sons of Korhal in the original Starcraft played the part of. Unfortunately, I didn't really read too far into the Starcraft literature that was released so I wouldn't know of the Confederacy before its time in the first game. I hope that gives you a bit of perspective. As for a direct answer, I can't really give it. Sorry.

These are, imo, the best terran musics in SC2. By that I mean 1:20 and 5:06. Technologically advanced, and also very cowboyish. Some others are not bad, but they're not sci-fi enough.

@DINDRAGON OK, but it still doesn't quite answer my question, because then we come back to my skepticism about why would the Confederacy use a flag that was used several centuries ago. Of course, NeoShadowWolf's post about Blizzard's "historical appeal" seems the most sensible right now, because I believe no actual StarCraft media has explained about this flag thing yet. However, let's not get too serious about this, because it was only a question of curiosity.

I really hope 2:19 is the victory screen music. Sc1 had victory/defeat music at the end of the game so should sc2 and 2:19 dark victory should be the theme!
