34:40 Look at this timestamp. Maru was already building up the Turrets even before he spotted Clem's drop. He knew he had the high ground advantage, and actually predicted a drop from Clem since he knew Clem cannot brute force his way in. The fact that his Marines also happened to spot the exact drop coming was just cherry on the cake

Watch the replay packs, in game, from both camera perspectives. Clem tries his impatient YOLO-drop towards the end of mid-game after being zoned out multiple times > He loads the drop at 11:45 > 3 seconds later Maru splits off 2 hit squads of scouting marines north and south > Maru sends SCVs to build turrets the moment his southbound squad snipes Clem's spotting marine at the 6oclock base @ 11:53. This is a full 8 seconds before the same proceeding squad even sees the drop itself at 12:01. And amazingly Maru is actually looking at his northbound squad when he gets mini-map vision of the drop. His game sense and mini-map awareness simply immaculate. In an instant he jumps to the drop, simultaneously: pulls his air army from the 3rd to the ledge, jumps back south > stims towards 9 O'clock, jumps back north > stims his towards 12 O'clock, jumps back to his Ravens. Conversely Clem shift queues that drop, macros in his main, looks at it twice enroute as it approaches but isn't even watching it (!) as it goes in. He's too busy looking at his tanks at 12 O'clock who are dealing with Maru's stummed marines 😉 and only jumps to look at it at 12:15, after it's already disabled and dying. •• The GOAT is both patient and yet lightning fast.

Clem is nothing to sneeze at, literally one of the GOAT terran players, hands down... but matches like these make Maru look like he's just on a whole other level. It's insane.

Don’t get me wrong, Clem is one of the best terrans right now but he’s not “one of the GOAT Terran players”. GOAT means you’re the greatest of ALL TIME, and Clem has only been owning the scene for the past few years. Maru, Innovation, MVP, etc. on the other hand, the true GOATs, have been consistently been at the top for way longer. Especially Maru, he’s literally the definition of someone who’s been great for all time.

Clem always struggles with TvT marinelord and heromarine have taken him down a few times. It seems much more difficult to play than TvZ. It’s basically a match to see who screws up first. Clem’s aggressive style leaves a bunch of holes in his game. Whereas Maru’s defensive skills give him a large margin of error.

@@demaals Yeah, for sure, and I'll go as far as to say that that aggression that Clem is always going for is what makes him so good in TvZ. He doesn't give zerg one second to breathe or drone up 'cause Clem is always making Zerg produce units and transfuse so he can't put down tumors or inject as well.. For sure though Clem isn't mature yet as a player. He has the absolute skills of a madman but he needs more game experience, as strange as that is to say with how many thousands of hours that kid must have put into this game..

@@inflatablewolfieThe only reason Reynor can keep up with Clem at this point is by exploiting holes in his defense. It’s insane how much Clem outclasses the top zergs. I think he’s fine overall. He’s arguably the best player in the world right now, it’s just that his kryptonite is TvT. I think he needs to play against Koreans more and research Korean players to develop a more flexible play style. When I watched him play vs Dark in the world finals a few months back, Dark was barely able to beat him by outsmarting him. The Koreans seem to have a more flexible approach to SC2 than EU. The only players mixing things up in the EU are Maxpax and Bly. Everyone else plays mechanically.

Maru vs Terran reminds me a lot of Jaedong vs Zerg matchups. You know the opponent is a top-tier player, but Maru just is even better especially how easy he makes it look.

@@goatfish480 yes i believe so, I'm zerg main as well. And I off race as toss. Funny thing is when the game came out i was terran main. You are correct. That is why Maru targeted the non interference matrix'd medivacs. Maru's micro is god tier. Great question! That is why Clem insta GG'd.

Yes, when watching these pro matched I often see they stuck on one idea/ unit composition when maxed out. Perhaps they know something we do not :)

never understood why ravens are so often used for TvT so it's obvious the players know how to use them but TvZ you so rarely see these things at the pro matches level. Something about TvZ that makes ravens useless?

Ravens are used to counter siege tanks because they can disable siege tanks. Disable only works on mechanical and psionic units, which Zerg doesn't have, so all they have is turret and anti-armor missiles. The gas can be better used massing ghosts.

Interference Matrix. Zerg has no mechanical units so this ability is completely useless, and its the main reason why Ravens are made at all. It's incredibly powerful against mechanical-heavy armies but is literally useless (not exaggerating) against a race that has no mechanical units whatsoever.

Well, Raven used to be super popular in TvZ, until Blizz nerf the Heat Seeker Missile, and replace it with Anti Armor Missle back in 2018.
