Man, the music from the old blizzard games was just unmatched brilliance, diablo (tristram theme especially) the modernish western style of the terrans, the otherwordly themes of the zerg etc... Blizzard used to really care about creating brilliance and used to be one of the real gems of the gaming world. -sigh- how times have changed. Blizzard lived long enough to go from the hero to becoming the villain. While all those old companies like westwood etc... died heroes.

@@mitchsullo Dugalle and Duke aren’t using one and are probably the closest we’d ever hear of his real voice. The others, Overmind and Zeratul use a filter. I’m not sure if between the two they’re the same one, but the Overmind, Kerrigan, and Duran I think all have the same one for infested. The effect? I experimented when I was younger and was stumped and thought it was special. I tried combining my own high and low pitch voice and doubling it but it didn’t sound quite right(maybe also the fact I was a lot younger haha) Recently however the effect is a Ring Modulator, which is a similar effect(or basically the same) as the one they use for Daleks. I discovered this because I found an official video saying the name, I found an audacity tutorial because I wanted to try, but after trying the dalek voice and it working, I was curious about normal speech, and that’s when I spoke and it had the same twang as that StarCraft voice effect 😊 at least I’m pretty sure it’s damn close this time lol It would make sense too since it may have been an old school vocal effect so sci fi was using it for things

Yeah, I personally love it when 'cutscene' videos add 3 hours of in-game game play no one is interested in in watching. I miss the days when cutscene videos used to be comprised of, y'know, just the cutscenes. It's not the uploader's fault, too many people have been uploading 'cutscene videos' like this for more than a decade now that everyone thinks this is how they're esposeda be. This is a Gen Alpha problem.

@@Hulavuta it's not about making a new unit. Blizzard did hardcode things into the game to make units in specific campaign maps behave a bit differently. The clearest example is how in some campaign missions, the Overmind and Aldaris portraits on Zerg and Protoss buildings are replaced with Daggoth and Fenix respectively. So it's possible something like that happened, where on that mission that line didn't play. I haven't checked it though

@@xetanth87 if I recall correctly, doesn't that depend on whether you are playing vanilla or Brood War? I believe Zerg buildings are Overmind in vanilla and Daggoth in Brood War, and then same respectively for Aldaris vs. Fenix

@@Hulavuta nope. It's hardcoded into the game based on the mission you are playing. It also happens in the original game in the last chapters after you betray Aldaris and rejoin with Fenix. If you extract these maps and play them from the custom game menu, these portraits won't appear

I love that everyone has extremely reasonable motives throughout the entire story. Yeah, it’s all goofy science fantasy, but if the characters are legible it doesn’t matter what the setting is. In particular, Aldaris and his character arc are extremely underrated, and I didn’t fully appreciate it until going back through the whole story again.

@@jaywilkey1323 you don’t have to agree with them, but if the motivations are “do whatever it takes to get as much power as possible, survive against all odds, and when you lose power do literally anything you can to get it back” you create a pretty interesting and legible character. He’s a completely opportunistic, egomaniacal, ruthless bastard, but his choices are well understood in that context. Every other major character in the Korpulu sector, at one time or another, found use in those same traits.

Idk if people notice this but I've always loved that after zeratul kills zasz everything for everyone devolves into chaos, no one knows what to do , kerrigan is chasing her own tail, and then BOOM, the overmind wakes up and not only is fine but now has all the information and a fully formed planned on how to win .

First of all, thank you so much for this vid. This brings back more memories than you can imagine. I played under the name "D-Fens[TC], rank 4 in ladder season 2. I got to know Villert (Season 1 winner and marked as "Zerg Power house"), and to this day we are still buddies irl. I never forget the feeling playing Starcraft, and even though I of course ventured into other games after season 2, nothing ever beat that feeling. Thank you again. Duran hyperventilates for a slight second delivering his line bc he is so enthralled in his position of power and purpose. Minute details like this, which are plentiful throught the game, truly set this games actors out from many other forms of entertainment. This games story telling and acting is truly a blessing for us to behold.

I ABSOLUTLELY LOVEEEE how fucking evil Kerrigan is, its to almost universe petty levels she's reached. And not only that goddamn effective! I think my only beef after rewatching all these cutscenes several times is the moment at 3:52:15. We didn't get many excellent female characters with depth hell we don't really get that now, but this game pulled it off years ago, but I think this line kinda under minds this entire character's villain's journey. I don't think she's a "Queen Bitch" i think she's more than justified in her roaring rampage throughout the galaxy, completely upsetting the balance of power and back to back betrayals because in this universe those in power would have and have done so to her she's just faster in making the decision than them. I wish to see more characters like her, and although I liked her in Starcraft 2 I think they nerfed the hell out of her and changing her motivation from just screwing over everyone to her being mad her fling of a boy toy (sorry Jim I love ya tho) is supposedly dead genuinely undermines her character. Anyway 10/10 OG Starcraft Kerrigan, slay queen slay, ect, ect.

I really would love that blizzard would make a exclusive Confederate Campaign....i remember there was one, the StarCraft Shareware version that had 4 missiones where you play as a Confederate Commander, working with Cerberus and their classified knowledge about the Xenomorphs called Zerg. The last mission is with General Duke in his tank. I played the heck outta that Demo.

1:25:00, in this game, if plater destroys the infested terrian command center, Gerneral Duke will show up and threaten Tassardar. Because Duke's threatening pissed Tassardar, he decide to lunch the attack which explains why Protoss forces attack Terrian's camp in the next movie.

I never had the full version of StarCraft, only the Shareware disc that I would play over and over. Then I bought SC2 on a whim back in 2010 and was hooked. Followed the pro scene and played daily on the ladder. Eventually bought SC+BW and played through that as well.
