You need it for the tech stuff it looks like and there seems to be way less. So maybe it's good to not waste it. Hopefully there's enough to build up a crude ship then get out so in future systems you can mine and refine and fully expand. as it appears the base ship is ALL the resources available. That or if in later version you can get the ship to a basic state and bring it to other ruined infrastructure like the consumable locations in Starmancer. So you can speed up the leaving or scrap everywhere for max resources. Though maybe with a growing debuff for the humans having to see the ruined earth.

Realistically your AI core would overheat quicker in a vacuum as convection doesn't work in a vacuum, only radiation which is substantially slower and requires incandescent degrees of heat to work.

If there was an active fan vent then you could use the excess heat to keep the ship warm. As you'd have to put something to keep it from be freezing for the humans. Reducing the need to put a load of atmospheric heating. Thus less power and maintenance.

Actually steel does burn, when it's molten hot. Many non noble metals can burn and give you energy. I don't know how much caloric value they have. Never ever use water to quench a metal fire though. Usually the metal just takes the oxygen from the water, turning it into highly flammable hydrogen. Usually you use sand to put out metal fires, but some metals even react with sand taking it's oxygen.

Makes me think it was based on Project Porcupine by quill18. He did a Unity tutorial series on base-building, having it as a space station, and cited Rimworld as an example of the mechanics implemented. I need to get around to finishing it.
@KodoLinija3 жыл бұрын
It is not based on Project Procupine. I did study it and watched the youtube series way before I started working on Stardeus, but the approach quill18 took would crumble on bigger map sizes. Stardeus technical architecture is completely different.

Ah yes... consuming steel for energy. Steel, which is famously composed mainly of iron. Iron does have exothermic chemical reactions, such as rusting or burning, though these require a second product like *air*, which you seem to lack in space. Can't be fission/fusion either.. Iron is the tipping point for energy potential across fission and fusion. Any element heavier than iron will require more energy to fusion than you will gain, and element lighter will require more energy to fission than you would gain. Meaning that fission and fusion of iron are both impossible for energy production. It's uphill either way. Matter-annihilation is possible, and a damn good power source if you can somehow make it work, but that makes fusion look trivial in comparison. Not all hope is lost, though. Steel is typically ~1% carbon, which *can* produce energy through fusion. Bit of a wasteful process to consume steel just for its carbon content, but whatever.
@isitanos3 жыл бұрын
I'm sure they found a conveniently placed deposit of anti-iron which for some reason is stable.

Thermos adds reflective surfaces to reduce radiation, so it obviously would work to some extent. Though not as efficiently as if you add some fluid or gas to move the heat faster.

@@robertotenreiro No I'm not. I don't like Minecraft solely because of the graphics. Half the time I can not make out what I'm looking at. This game's graphics is better than Minecraft but it still poses a similar visual fuzziness. The gameplay seems interesting and if it had a basic 2D graphics, it would be better.
@corediagram80163 жыл бұрын
@@Marko25Polo And some people think they know everything about a better idea. Ideas are meant to be posed. Not everyone can look at mud and see distinct shapes. And although this game's graphics is better than a muddy game like Minecraft, it still poses a graphical fuzziness where objects and assets are fuzzy and you have to actually focus hard to distinguish shapes. That's the hallmark of pixelated games. I know because my eyes got spoiled via playing really ancient SEGA games on it's console for one whole summer during my adolescent years. Don't blabber and generalize about everyone and assume that you know better.

@@corediagram8016 hum... ok... I guess everyone is entitled to their opinion. I dunno how it would look as 2D but as it is, it looks really good.
