I read the novelisation of Alien a few years back and apparently in that universe they record and sell peoples dreams. A bit random but there you go.

There was a super old game called "Interphase" also built on that premise. You were basically a rock star who had super awesome dreams that everyone wanted to buy... except some of them started giving people seizures but the evil megacorp selling them was like "meh, we like money" and kept selling them anyway. So you have to break into the corporate HQ and steal back your dream recordings with the help of your cyber-ninja girlfriend. If all of this sounds amazing bear in mind it came out in 1989, so it looks like a bunch of geometric 3D shapes having an orgy.

This is a really nice game, lot of grim and funny narration elements and the gameplay is solid and satisfying.

Well after looking up some of the reviews it looks like it is still VERY early. So I'm giving it the 6 month test. Meaning if no noticeable updates for bugs/stability/balance of note occur it is doomed or a victim of incompetent Dev syndrome. The game aesthetically looks awesome and already seems pretty together but that's how Spacebase DF-9 started too. And NO ONE wants another shitshow like that!

@@Medivhmen I agree, it is too buggy. I would not have released it quite so early but if they get 75% of them fixed in the next 3-6 months, the game should do ok. It’s one thing releasing something that has odd ball bugs only found by a large testing group, and one like this game. Bugs that are obvious and should have been stomped on before release.

19:50 Thats great! In the game Shortest Trip to Earth you can do the same thing with a certain set of Cryptosleep caskets. It dosent hold many people, but every time you jump it sells their dreams for credits.

This game is also on xbox game pass for pc, I would have to say that the biggest thing that disappoints me is not being able to put wires inside walls, so every room ends up needing its own power regen, its a waste of money and time

Having been playing since the alpha I can confirm it does get insane. The plan for after 1.0 is to also involve Xenomorph-like infestations too. So batshit insane might be just the tip of the iceberg.

What does it have in common with any of these, apart from very, very broad stroke genres? With SS13 it has in common: Is in space / on a space station. With Dwarf Fortress it has in common: Is a colony sim/builder. Apart from these very broad, very non-specific similarities they are quite different. I am quite sure that it is not multiplayer and absolute mayhem with lots of different intricate jobs for you to fulfill like SS13. And I'm just as sure that it does not scale to managing multiple hundrets of colonists over multiple z-levels and has as deep a simulation as Dorf Fort. And it probably lacks an Adventure or Legends mode, which DF has. It's more like RimWorld, but on a space station. Or like Space Haven. That's all not to say I don't like it. Quite the opposite, I think the game looks great.

@@Asrashas what the dude is point is how it fellows, because you have a wide cash of people like with ss13 because I have had people do odd things like eat litteral poo, currently my average Joe is inconsiderate meaning they shit were ever the f they want (also there is a negative for pooping on the floor) and on a hunger strike, so you quickly fall in df tantrum spirals in that some folks will fight and hate people. Thus causing some to constant drones so I may liquadise 2 of my people because they have lost value. Thus the finnal bit, the spave zombie infections and some zeno morph bs.

LOL, wonder if Splattercat was tired, he totally missed the water recycling device multiple times. I feel the pain, have done it myself in other games with bigger skill trees. Also...he missed that the waste recycler creates biomass...not water :/ Finally...those nutrition bricks (and therefore biomass) are useful if he'd ever put a metal unit into the analyzer, and fire up the warp drive 🤣

It's accaly a fun thing, what I find the fun comes from is balincing your autonomous clones, aka they not monkey, oh and you can straight up go from bei g smet enough to learn how to make a water tank to licking ice.

I have both. I have only played a few hours of this one, but the ability to rotate the camera makes this one seem more "playable" for me, especially for building but the little guys in this game are way quicker to get angry than in Space Haven.
