Home baker here, you did pretty good with the cake, it looked really good, if you wanted to chill the frosting faster without leaving it in the fridge, you could have taken the bowl of butter and sugar and put it on top of another bowl with ice water in it and whip it.

As someone else who lived in a rural community, I definitely agree that Stardew hits the nails on the head as far as the good and bads of living in a small town like that. Everyone knows you, and everyone knows your secrets. One thing that hurt me a fair bit before I want to say the 1.4 update was how the marriage candidates all have dreams and aspirations and they all just…drop them once they get married and settled down in the same town many of them wanted to grow beyond. I outright refused to marry characters like Haley and Sebastian who outright wanted to leave the valley altogether because I didn’t want to quash their aspirations. It very much hits the nose on the head with rural life - so many people have big dreams, but most of them end up right back at home, repeating the cycle. Thankfully concerned ape added the 14 heart events that kind of remedied that, often in that they’re not necessarily pursuing their old dreams but they’re finding adjacent ones, but it still makes me feel a bit squeamish sometimes that I’m perpetuating the same thing that I rebelled so hard against growing up. I may not be living the high life by any means, but at least I’m not there anymore.
