I think a lot of us were hoping the space flight would be at least a little bit more utilized. Not necessarily Elite: Dangerous level where it's literally almost the whole game but more than just a bit between loading screens, too. Things like manually landing or taking off your ship even would be a welcome step _for me, at least, I know not everyone is here for the space flight sim._ Glad you mentioned the NPC animations, too - there's just something not quite right about the conversations in my opinion. Like talking to a theme park animatronic. The people in Fallout 4 or even 3 felt a bit more lifelike about it.
@jimjam7928 Жыл бұрын
In regards to the "slow beginning" I actually feel like Bethesda never let you sit in the intro section for long enough before throwing all the Chosen One stuff at you. Let me have a little prologue story that is also the tutorial at the start, with me actually working as a miner for two or three in-game days, before thrusting all this stuff at me. I'd rather earn my first ship then having some guy just give me his.

Is this like your first game? This game lacks a ton of player freedom, basically half of the NPCs are essential and the dialogue options are either cartoonishly evil or generic good guy lines. They've also pretty much brought back the fallout 4 dialogue system where the majority of the time there's only 4 options.
@awesomeal3603 Жыл бұрын
@@1810jeff You don't sound like you've played the game at all. One, you get different dialogue options depending on your background, two, the persuasion checks gives you a ton of alternate options, and 3, your skill levels will unlock new dialogue options. What game are you comparing Starfield to?

I was hooked from the very beginning. Can't say I think New Atlantis is a weak area either. However I think my experience ultimately boils down to having a different perspective and expectation of the game. I've loved every second of the game, save for a few quests that I found more tedious than fun. Havent had any of those weird head & eye tracking experiences yet lol.

In typical Bethesda style the highs are really high and the lows are dreadfully low. Flying though space is awesome, building ships and battling space pirates is like a dream come true. Watching the sun rise on an exotic moon is always cool. However, navigating practically all of the UI with a controller is terrible, performance is subpar, the character writing and storytelling is all “meh” in my opinion, I still wish I had more flexibility to play as a unique character rather than being shoehorned into this or that path, etc… Going to put lots of time into this game exploring and fighting, I just wish I felt motivated to care about anything going on in the world. It’s Skyrim all over again!

I feel like everyone started expecting a life-changing experience after the game reveals a few months back, as marketing started to ramp up. It's Bethesda. Expect a Bethesda game. And you'll get exactly that and more, this isn't the railroaded fallout 4 Bethesda, this is Skyrim or Oblivion Bethesda. It strings you along in these long as quest lines whilst also making you feel extremely small by scale.

Plenty of other really similar games that have already been out for years. It's a ok Bethesda game, but a medicore 2023 game. Thing that bugged me was how similar the music was to fallout.

As a fan of Bethesda and pretty much all their games I’m very disappointed with Starfield. Space is boring, most of the planets are boring, controlling your ship is weird and I don’t like it, very much a bog standard Bethesda experience, little polish many of the npcs look dead eyed, they don’t respond to you aiming your weapon at them or even shooting around them. Many parts of the game feel under cooked. Honestly I’d rather play no man’s sky, it’s far more polished and fleshed out. It’s sad that objectively speaking, no man’s sky and cyberpunk 2077 are far better games than Starfield. I think Starfield needed at least one more year in development before release so maybe in a year and after some mods it’ll be worth playing. The whole do what you want, explore space aspect is very under developed and I find that to be very upsetting. If you’re a fan of the typical Bethesda experience, you’ll like Starfield. I’m now very worried about es6.
@VATROU Жыл бұрын
I definitely think a pure Exploration themed DLC should be a requirement, the various empty planets need a little more life than what they have now. However Starfield is rather polished in comparison to other Bethesda games, it looks like the time they did get was well spent. And while we do have bugs it's a vast improvement from older titles that just broke upon release. I still remember when enemies in 76 slid and attacked from a prone position. Or when you could fall through the map to a void or touch a object and immediately die due to the weird physics in the engine.
@Jansmaaa Жыл бұрын
I've watched a little bit of streamers playing Starfield and the game does not interest me. Its too tame. The dialog is boring, graphics are a bit dated though still look good enough, the npcs on the other hand... Its 2023 and some of them look so uncanny, especially the unnamed ones that have no impact other than to make areas more lively. If this had come out in 2015 if would have been a good game but now it just seems dated.

I've never been a space sci-fi fan. And from your clips here the combat looks really bullet spongey and lackluster, as per typical Bethesda. Maybe in a year or so once it gets patched and some Q.O.L. mods come out I'll consider it but I'm gonna pass for now
@SNoozzyJ Жыл бұрын
If u compare it to NMS you’re disappointed….cool story but what’s gonna make me keep coming back. The little “sense of exploration” if it’s trying to be a “space game” it’s kinda pathetic for 2023…looks like a 2013 game…a remade one…just cause u see space and you’re on a planet doesn’t make it a space game…it makes it a sci-fi rpg with lack of space and exploration…
@subbinbacktoallsubbs5272 Жыл бұрын
Yep, why make it a space game if the space part is going to be mediocre? Imagine if it was inverted? Instead of flying into the stars you go deeper and deeper into the planet, building your outposts and discovering the "artifacts" secrets.
@PanicOregon Жыл бұрын
No it is not ok, because it was advertised as a space game. A whole new IP, set in space and the exploration was the selling point. You're just trying to validate your 70$/100$ purchase. This is a joke, just because it's 'classic' Bethesda means nothing because you were lied to. You cannot walk across the entire planet, It's heavily copy pasted POIs, etc, etc. I've been playing the game for several days and this is a joke. I can't refund it, and i will not validate Bethesda's release just to make myself feel comfortable with my purchase.
