For me personally, having 30 outpost is beyond well enough for me. In fallout 4 I really enjoyed the settlement systems and only made about 3-4 dense settlements including all the dlc(which should've been free). excited non the less for an upgrade to the settlement system

I spent 90% of my time in fallout 4 crafting settlements so this is the one game mechanic I'm hoping to dive into the most. We broke fallout 4 with so many discoveries and glitches, I can't wait to see what we can do in Starfield! what makes it the most exiting for me is that you can choose where to build so you have a place you like the view from, build there so you can come back and enjoy the scenery! I'm also hoping that we will have a bit more automation than in FO4 as I would love to come back and have stuff crafted for me like advanced component such as sealant or research projects. maybe an auto-loot of potential assault on the base

all the systems i've seen in Starfield seem to be very intuitive and fun to use. From the character creation, where you have traits and classes fully explaining what they're all about, to the skill trees that are easy to navigate and to skill up, the weapon upgrading system and the outpost and ship building mechanics, which all seem to be pretty straightforward. We know there's also a persuasion system like that of Oblivion and we've seen the upgraded lockpicking mechanic. One of the reasons why Skyrim was so successful is that it was much more user friendly and less cluttered than its predecessors at the cost of stripping away many RPG elements. I'm glad to see that they maintained that philosophy of accessibility whilst also reintroducing many of the RPG elements that were removed with Skyrim and FO4.

This should be so much more organic than the sterility of NMS settlements, not knocking that title, it's brilliant for what it is, but most of us would like to see settlers going about their business in a settlement.

The building mechanic for Starfield looks a bit similar to the way you build in Subnautica. It simple and easy to build but I hope there will be a complex way of building an outpost like in Fallout 4. Perhaps decorating the interior will be complex?

Well, it might be a response to how Fallout 4 did it. Because every single piece you placed had to be loaded separately, and the collision and stuff wouldn't always load in before your decorative items, resulting in things falling to the ground. So for performance and stability it makes sense to have giant pre-fabs that can be scripted to be the first things to load, collision and all, before any interior additions.
@sneezyfido Жыл бұрын
FO4 felt like it took too much effort to align every piece by hand, and then having to re-make huge sections over one part snapping to the point next to the one you intended (hope that makes sense). I loved settlements but never got beyond 2 over the sheer amount of time it took to get it right, combined with feeling that I needed to give my people defenses.. which was a mess in itself

If it is like in FO4, the "(30)" is the number of outposts you can build with the current materials you have. It is not a limit how much you can build at all. Just get some more junk/material and you can build more then those 30.

Resource gathering, base building, wealth building (yeah, I'm on of THOSE people) has drawn me into this game as much as it's other features. @XoRandomGuyoX2 жыл бұрын
I remember some of the mods for Fallout 4 did that. They took the idea of the Scavenging Bench that was already in the game(though the vanilla one was a huge disappointment since it stopped working once you had 20 units in there, which includes what you'd get as Wood from scrapping a single tree) and ran with it, making new stations where Settlers would generate a specific resource for you.

@@XoRandomGuyoX Yea but these outpost if I’m not wrong look like they are going to mine resources and develop technology for you depending how how you build and staff them. If that’s the case then I’m going to spend about a thousand hours playing with the base building if not more.

It would be cool if instead of endless alerts we get a outpost summary when we come to check up on them. I mean Fallout 4 players understand this well.
@XoRandomGuyoX2 жыл бұрын
Bethesda should make ALL radiant quests 'opt in'. There shouldn't be infinite emergency alerts broadcasts in waves of 3 every time you go near The Castle, or make the mistake of talking to Preston Garvey. That was an annoying design choice, and one with consequence since failing to protect a Settlement would see 1-2 item types from your Workshop eliminated under the guise of it being spoils taken by Raiders. If they choose a building material like steel or wood you could lose thousands of unit just like that...

I just hope this system is WAY better than Fallout 4. I hated the building system in that game. For one, having part of the building floating off the ground just irked me. That would happen everytime the terrain was a little uneven vs the building part you were placing. Then I cant tell you how many times I just gave up on building something in my head b/c I'd get started and halfway through realize the walls werent right or something and needing to go piece by piece to delete what you did was NOT fun. I'd much rather construct a building in something like CAD and then once it looks exactly like I want then I fin d a spot to put it. No ,uss no fuss no need for re-do.
@XoRandomGuyoX2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, with that and how the individual pieces loaded into the game engine I usually just did the Wood pre-fab buildings then put down a dozen Sleeping Bags and called a Settlement. It was less taxing on the system too, boosting frame rates compared to making things from individual pieces.
