The wakizashi is shorter than the katana. Think of it as a long dagger or short sword meant for indoor or parrying if dual wielding.

House Va'ruun seems to be inspired a lot by some aspects in Dune lore. Fitting that they'd weild the osmium dagger and painblade.

Very awesome info, I found a mod that changes a few of these melee weapons into lightsabers. So with some NG+ elements I'm trying out a Dark Jedi playthrough. This helped me narrow down my main lightsaber, thanks!
