The bland and unoriginal writing really is the most disheartening aspect of this game. Most other things wrong with Starfield can be improved if Bethesda cares (though it seems like they don't, judging from the standard of the patches they've put out). But the story and dialogue is always gonna stay forgettable at best, because that's something you just have to make sure you get right during development. It's the reason so many people championed CP2077 even after the catastrophic launch, and why almost no one cares about Starfield now.

In terms of the endless procedurally generated planets with little memorable content on any of them, it feels like they failed to learn from No Man’s Sky and Mass Effect Andromeda. NMS said the whole game was procedural and promised that this would lead to interesting gameplay. At launch, players disagreed (though they did improve the game over time). When BioWare was making Andromeda, their initial plan was also to have a huge number of planets, and the idea was for most of it to be procedurally generated. But at some point, they realized that this wasn’t fun, so they scrapped it and just hand crafted a few planets. Starfield came in and said “ok but THIS time, procedurally generated planets will be fun!” And they’re not. I feel like they must have realized this, but maybe they had less time than BioWare, so instead of moving to a narrower scope, they just moved ahead with what we eventually got, and just told us that they believed it was the right idea, even if they felt otherwise. Actually, this goes with an idea I had back in Fallout 76. At the initial reveal, they said there’d be no NPCs , and they talked about this like it was a good thing. Players disagreed, and NPCs were later added. Personally, I always believed that NPCs were just cut to save time so they could get the game out the door (they clearly didn’t let that game finish).

@@BehuraStudio Sadly not, which is bizarre as they had combat/ stealth finisher animations in their last three single player games: Fallout 3, Skyrim, and Fallout 4. Really hope they add it! It makes combat much more immersive imo. There are unfortunately so many features missing from their previous games. We can’t even swim underwater in Starfield, even though there are sea creatures to scan, lol. They obviously needed a few more years to finish the game. @OzzyFan80Ай бұрын
Well, you saved me 30.00 so that's cool. The combat is my biggest complaint was the difficulty in combat and yes, the loot was bad. It was just boring after so many hours. I did a lot of ship building and exploring then I got burnt after finishing the faction quest lines and then blew through the main story and hated the ending. The lack of a vehicle and the boring planets is what killed the exploration for me and the lack of even needing to build a base was weird. I put a good amount of time into it almost 300 hundred hours and enjoyed 250 of them. I just am in a spot of not wanting to play games that are that long anymore. I think Phantom Liberty was 30.00 and there's the difference, not all DLC are created equal.

My big thing with Starfield is the entire skill tree is a snooze fest. I don’t want tiny incremental increases to basic abilities. They need to put in weapons/armor/abilities/skills that fundamentally change the game. Also they need way more enemy types and sizes of enemies. Remember that mech factory?! HOW WAS THERE NOT A BIG MECH FIGHT?
@SirShadeyyАй бұрын
It was not good. The only upside were the armor and weapon design and the city. The story was abysmal, the actual content did not push the game forward at all. It was so disapponting. I also love how Andreja, probably the most morally gray companion you can obtain, is absolutely against any of the evil decisions, and the game would not let me dismiss her at all, so I was stuck joining a cult for the quest, and then I was stuck being a good guy when I wanted to do more morally ambiguous or evil choices.

I feel like the first year post release saw most, if not all, changes at the core experience via maps, vehicle, gameplay options, performance options and lighting adjustments. I believe the future of starfield will be geared towards medium sized story expansions for those who enjoy the core experience (and which can be greatly enhanced with some overhaul mods, as usual). I feel starfield is a distinct flavor from fallout and elder scrolls. There are people who like ES and dont like fallout and vice versa. I doubt that a new ES game will rely heavily on procedural techniques, POIs and so on. It will certainly use procedural design as the base layer for the map and have tons of radiant events, but fall more in line with previous ES games in other aspects. So, if you like starfield, the intended long tail of the game is probably expansions like shattered space on a yearly basis, and thats alright. They need to adjust the pricing, though. 20 seems good for the size.

Basically if you like Starfield, its pretty good. If you didn't, this wont change your mind.

this looks like a ps4/xbox one game

Expecting good or even okay writing from Emil Pagliarulo is setting yourself up for disappointment.

I do think this game can do a Cyberpunk or No Man’d Sky level comeback, but it isn’t gonna happen overnight, but I’d hate to see the potential here squandered

what possibly makes you think bethesda is capable of that lmfao they havent shown competence in a very long time

@@wizardd Fallout 76 went from catastrophic dogshit, into an actual game. Starfield has a LOT of work to do, but it isn’t rotten to the core, and that’s proved by the day 1 reactions where people saw something in the game, even if it didn’t last.

surprise suprise you never liked the game anyway so why would you like the DLC. whatever

This game is cooked. It's gone from medium rare mediocrity at launch to burnt mess. At this point Elder Scrolls 6 could be bloated garbage.

Ouch. When developers shift focus to "how can we get people to spend more" (aka FO76), they lose focus on just making a good product. This DLC is the end result of that. The irony being if they make a good product, they will make tons of money because people will buy it.

Thanks for the review, I will make sure to avoid this game entirely, I’ll just go back to No Mans Sky. It’s a better space game
