In most Bethesda games, that one guy from the bar in STALKER Shadow of Chernobyl, yells point blank in your ear "YOU CAN'T GO THERE!" every time you go to the edge of the overworld. Because he doesn't want you to see the eldritch horrors of nullspace and the void beyond.
@generalrubbish9513
@generalrubbish9513 8 ай бұрын
You know, despite being like 15 years old, I feel like the STALKER trilogy still outclasses this game. You're limited to relatively small enclosed areas, yes, but at least they're all hand-crafted and filled with detail, which makes them feel bigger than they are. Not to mention the A-Life system does a much better job making the world actually feel alive, by not only having monsters and NPCs interact with each other but also simulating these interactions even if the player isn't around to see them. About the only thing that's on par with Bethesda is the amount of bugs. Even the finest slavjank couldn't beat Bethesda's latest AAA title in sheer brokenness.

I remember finding a way out of Whiterun back on the 360, running underneath the city and finding a chest full of items. There was a some kind of object near a wall in a tiny section to the right of the main entrance that you could use to jump over the wall with.

These chests under the map are actually how vendors in skyrim have an inventory of items to sell you. This is why if you kill a vendor, they don't drop 100 items. There's a chest beneath/near each vendor in Skyrim. They rely on the same mechanic in Starfield - if you clip below the vendors, there is a chest that contains all the items they can sell.

People back in the early 2000s would’ve loved procedural generation. Remember all the urban legend about every Majoras mask being personalised or unique. So they would’ve loved the idea of their own Starfield being unique to them.

@@miriamkapeller6754 to be fair despite that being boring in the long run Daggerfall was kind of a critical hit with some reviews that were in awe of the scale, and their first generally big success, so I wouldnt call it completely boring. there is also how the various incomplete and unimplemented systems of daggerfall , combined with just more content would make a really interesting game, so the frustration shouldnt only be blamed on the procedural generation

@@a_wild_Kirillian That was not grammatical use of commas. If your sentence used them correctly, it would be the following: "Yeah, at this point I'm really realizing that I can watch a video where Philip tells a story about drying paint and be entertained." Additionally, while this is not related to the usage of commas, I would recommend removing "really," inserting "still" before "be entertained," and replacing "that I can" with simply "I could" ("I'm realizing," "still be entertained," and "realizing I could watch"), as these changes would improve the flow of your comment. Additionally, "video where Philip tells a story" isn't the best phrasing, I believe "video of Philip telling a story" would be more proper. To summarize, if you used my suggested changes, your comment would be this: "Yeah, at this point I'm realizing I could watch a video of Philip telling a story about drying paint and still be entertained." I hope this reply was helpful, have a nice day! Edit: Ironically, my last sentence was not using proper grammar. It was initially "Have a nice day, and I hope this reply was helpful!" I realized that I could've formatted it in a more proper manner, and so I have.

Bethesda is now completely fixated on a literal interpretation of immersion. And while that may sound contradictory, what I mean is that they have been throwing all of their energy into atmosphere, lighting, and expansive maps, but what is no where to be found is the coloring of life found at other studios making environments paired with natural narrative driven moments that truly take you into the world (RDR2, Arkham, Star Wars Jedi, Uncharted, etc.) and makes you forget for a few hours that you are indeed in their universe. In brief, they are obsessed with hyperrealism, and somehow still manage do it poorly with an over bloated studio lead by a leader who is a businessman first and innovator second.

I will explain this but it will be a spoiler so don't read unless you don't mind a spoiler. To learn this in game play the missions from one of the main factions based in new Atlantis. New Atlantis has a spaceport which are home to heatleaches (a creature that gains sustenance from heat/power sources like engines). When a heatleach matures, either by time or an external catalyst, it transforms into a terrormorph. That's how they get around. Heatleaches create nests hidden around spaceports so it's not impossible that one could get out unnoticed and eventually mature possibly using those solar panels as sustenance.

One thing I noticed : the landscape around New Atlantis looks like straight out of a 10 year old game from 2013 or so. Seriously - while I do enjoy the over-all look - graphically Starfield lacks quite a bit and the low-poly ferns and strange lighting choices make it seem plastic-cy and cheap on many occasions, which is sad.

You can actually get out of whiterun over the walls by using whirlwind sprint, I can’t remember exactly where you use it, but I used to use it all the time to get to the vendor chest before I learned about the dawn star chest that was easier to get to.

Beyond all that, how is the main city of the supposedly main planet of humanity so small? I think i wouldve preffered blocked off city over these woods this time
@merlinwarage

It's not small, the rendered area is "small". You can land your ship on an another spot on the planet, and you will get an another 8000x8000 square area.

In Skyrim you can get a mod to remove the gates to the cites so you could see through the gates, and walk right in. No loading. Hopefully someone might be able to work something out in Starfield as well. Be even better with vehicles tho.

You don't need it for Starfield. There's a path at the lodge you can take to go outside NA. Easy to miss.

The bigger mod - and this might not be possible with how much of a overhaul it might require to the engine, would be to make planetary exploration fully seamless like it is in other space games like No Man’s Sky.
@uptightsl
@uptightsl 8 ай бұрын
@@theblah12 Pretty sure he means from city to planet. It's already like that. It's easy to get out of the city, there's paths that where made just for it that aren't hacky or anything. Now the loading screen is a whole nother problem. If they drop CE they should make it open sourced, or at least for public use.

I dont think the game likes when you explore too much. I built an outpost and then ran around checking if there was a better spot with more resource hot spots, eventually. I gave up and returned, and I just kept falling through the ground in the middle of my outpost, didnt get fixed until I left the planet and returned.
