Just a heads up that paid mods are prone to problems. You mentioned this but I wanted to double down on some of these: the companion robin has an animation problem and her face is static, she also doesnt have any skills (dunno if its a bug) and youll gain affinity with her when you tweak your ship even if you havent met her. There's also a verified creation that goes by "beowulf healthy parts" or something that as far as I know doesnt do anything and dont even have a description that makes sense. The vulture questline by bethesda themselves has a buggy weapon, so in my book your best bet quality wise is to stick with free mods.

Going to pin this, I personally have only tried out three paid mods and not the ones that you mentioned.

Really? The vulture? I have the weapon and it's working well. What is the bug? It might be the load order. Bethesda content should always go first in the load order.

@@XKathXgamesi’ve been playing with The Vulture since it was released and i have encountered the bug most people are talking about twice. occasionally, you just cannot reload the weapon. you can drop it and pick it back up which gives it a full clip. or, you can close starfield and relaunch the game, which usually fixes the issue.

Agreed. In fact, some of the paid mods leave no indication on where to go for help, where to put it in the load order and what types of mods you may want to avoid to prevent conflicts. Then there is Wykkyd Gaming. The DarkStar mods creator. His descriptions do a great job of showing what's new in an update, where to put the mod in the LO and what conflicts you might have. Then he has a great Discord community if you need help. All for free. I just deleted two paid mods because they didn't really bring much joy after checking them out for a while. They were quite complicated and may have caused some issues I was having. They both did not give any info that might help guide me for troubleshooting so I removed them. (DEREK and Hyla II Mansion) The Vulture weapon also has issues as others have pointed out, but i can generally find work arounds for that one so I'm keeping it in the LO.

1 tip: never install mods to a working previous save... login and create a second exit save. Load that save and test the mod, any issues with it you can force close the game remove the mod and no harm done IMO.

After many years of using mods on Fallout 4 on Xbox & encountering many a nightmare, I recommend disabling a mod before deleting it to remove any save file dregs Also putting 'constant use' mods at the very bottom of all load orders, mods such as Improve Follower Behaviour at the very bottom with Flashlight, clothing, damage, boostpack, environmental seal, hair mods etc directly above it Shipbuilding mods in following order, list adjustments, hide empty habs, all parts added, ship size, more modules, cargo container adjustments more engines/weapons, more reactor power/grav jump range, shield increase, more attachment points, better ship part flips, colorize ship parts, P.A.B. Crew skill boosts, ship tools (register, open/close bay door etc), anything that can be made on a workbench such as ship repair parts (auto repairs etc) Putting a mod such as Darkstar at the very bottom WILL cause serious conflicts with any mod that adjusts ship values for engines, grav jump distance etc, the worst conflicts will be with mods that add attachment points or flip parts as anything that's been attached by an added attachment point or been flipped by another mod will be completely missing from you ship in shipbuilder with 'UNATTACHED PARTS' as a permanent message, with the missing parts nowhere to be seen & no assigned weapons. It will also overwrite add more weapons & engine mods resulting in 'Too many weapons' & ' too much engine power' etc Meaning you'll have to move something like 'Darkstar' upwards in your load order above any mods that adjust values/ quantity/number of, or add attachment points or flip parts to fix it. Delete any saves the were added after you added the offending mod that messed things up to remove any conflict dregs that could infect future saves (Important!). If you were insane enough to add the fanboy idiot & want the fangirl mod, put it near the bottom but above any clothing, hair, flashlight, boostpack, add weapons, follower behaviour etc mods as these mods will have a very negative impact if you use the village idiot fangirl as a companion or give them mod clothing, weapons etc to wear or use, ie no head/hands & an invisible weapon (which can become permanent even after deleting the mods & going back to vanilla without much save deleting, prior to first mod installation & reinstalling the game, which could potentially put you back many, many levels or even a new game from level one

Great video, now I have something to send to my buddy who has just started modding. Lots of clever tips as well as methods I’ve personally used in all bgs titles of the past. Good shit my guy. The Venus trick is a big brain play.

First of all I am glad you XBox Players can enjoy the fun of a totally overmodded game and the fiddeling with load orders and compability patches to make it work. 😉😆 Something that we pc folk know for a long time. On PC Mod Organizer 2 is the best way to mod Bethesda games imo.

How is the Fallout 4 modding scene? I heard after the Next Gen update nothing works?

@@magickaddict Short answer: It has never been better since the game's release. Long answer: I just got back to playing FO4 again after shelving it for 5 years. I anticipated that the new FO4 update will render most mods useless, so I immediately downgraded to version 1.10.63. after a fresh FO4 install. Next, I downloaded a Wabbajack modpack "Welcome To Paradise", a lightweight visual only modpack that is more stable than the vanilla game. Lastly, I added 60 more of my own curated mods on top of said modpack. I have about 500 mods in my loader. I get mostly 60+ FPS and possibly 1 crash for every playthrough, if that. It took a small fraction of the time that I used to spend modding this game since release. The key principle I follow is to know the capability of my rig, downloading a well established modpack, and reading the description of the mods I add thoroughly to know their requirements and incompatibilities. Most importantly, I take everything I hear and see from internet naysayers and entitled crybabies with a grain of salt and experience things myself. I will eventually go back to Starfield when mods that I'm holding out for are released. Cheers!!!

@@magickaddict It has never been a better experience for me. I use a downgraded FO4 version 1.10.63. I downloaded a lightweight modpack. I added 60 more of my own curated mods on top of the modpack. I capped my FPS to 60, and I get mostly that throughout the entire map with maybe 1 crash per playthrough, if that even. I have approximately 500 mods in my load order and completed my set up at a fraction of the time I use to spend modding FO4 since forever.

With the most recent update I have to delete the reserve cash for starfield and reinstall all my mods. Very time consuming but after I completed it I was running smoothly without errors.

Always important to reatart the game. Also clean savefiles before updates. Because restarting is necessary its a good idea to have installed the skip bethesda intro mod. Makes things much faster.

In my last playthrough emma wilcox was invisible from the waist down and there were 2 electronics cabinets clipping through vladimir's table in the Eye. Those were the extent of my problems and I havent yet found what may have caused them, but since then I decided to start a new playthrough and Im 50% confident at least one of these wont happen again, because of how mods may mess up some things mid playthrough.

Ha! I just learned that the Load Order is counterintuitive. Who would've thought that the higher priority is lower on the Load Order. I have some reshuffling to do.

Thaaaaank you for making this video . Very helpful. Your video should be added to the mod community for people like me. I do have a question, di i have to kand on venus ti rest. Can i lamd on any planet reset? If yes to landing on Venis. How does that work ? What makes Venus the planet to reset? Again thank you

Technically yes, but passing large amounts of time is quicker on Venus because of the day length. It's not needed just makes it easier

@LadyAnnt There are numerous planets/moons where you can rest/sleep to pass what I’d called UT time. Venus has the 1 to 100 hour time lapse ratio so for every hour you rest or sleep 100 hours game time passes. Copernicus IV is one of the others and also Katydid III.

Hey mate I found although Adoring fan girl is buggy a reload generally sorts her out, no need to reinstall eventually she rights herself. The other thing is I found that once you install a mod, you want restart Starfield completely then reboot it from scratch.

1. Community patches/mechanics updates 2. Texture/lighting 3. Reskins 4. Object addins i.e. adds new weapons, clothes ect 5. New location mods 6. New companion mods/majorly alters existing companions (more than simple reskins) 7. Quest line addins/altering existing quests 7. Major plugins that do several of the things above. Example would be dark star mods This is a basic understanding and you're going to find instances where you will have to deviate from this. Also, most authors will mention load order in their description. If they say it doesn't matter, I default it to the top until I see an issue.

@@Starfield_Eclipsethis is how modding worked on ps4. I modded skyrim & fo4 on the ps4, usually with plenty of crashes but it was totally worth it. Starfield is somehow proving a lot more stable so far. I think i've only got 10 or 15 mods so far though.

@@skyriminspace I'm running about 30 mods right. Livestreamed for about an hour and half. Load times weren't bad, didn't experience any defects or crashes. A lot more stable than modded out Skyrim or FO4.

Actually, textures such as hair and furniture are low priority, so they go last. The most important ones go on top.

I'm 72 yo and I have never done a mod even though I can see that they could benefit my game experience. I am still scared of ruining what I have achieved so far (level 178) I can't ever hope to remedy any problems, so I just resist these. Am I too scared?

Maybe a bit, if I put together a load order and detail what everything does and safe guards I take. I think it may help, like a beginner load order. No massive changes just small tweaks.

@@marknorthrup4897 that's going to be my suggestion. Start with smaller mods like flash light and move on after you feel comfortable with that. Maybe TJ's luxury homes if you like outpost building.

You would have to get ahold of the old version of it. The first version that was available on creations. So, contact the creator and convince them to repost it.
