VITA has always been an AI. She's just an AI with some pretty strict programming.

@@VelociraptorsOfSkyrim thats essentially what a VI is- an AI that has its "AI capabilities" for specific tasks (think of Avina in Mass Effect) in everything else, that the VI is not designed for.. its pretty much useless since it has no porgramming etc. towards those tasks

@@TauShasla Eh, no VIs aren't self aware. In Mass Effect, since you brought up Avina, it's specified that VIs aren't self aware and are little more than a Computer program designed to do a specific task. AI are fully self aware. For example, the Reapers and Geth in Mass Effect. The Reapers specifically. They're fully self aware but have strict programming that compels them to harvest each cycle.

Leaderships involves judgement and risk. Administrators spend an inordinate amount of time on risk management and reduction. If you take that to extremes you wouldnt use the Gate at all! And the Gaould will overwhelm you with superiour technology. 2. In taking the children back Garak demonstrated mORE humanity than earth bound administrators with the comfort of armchair risk avoidance. Maybe the auditor should come on an away mission or experience decision making in the field?

Honestly, even if Area 51 is going to be paradise for the kids, I don't blame the players to assume the worst. Many of the UN countries don't have...the best track record when it comes to treating kids foreign to their countries and these kids could be seen as valuable specimens and test subjects

Ga'rak has now proven himself to be a potential threat with that whole, killing Tau'ri thing, not the sort of thing I think that can be accepted. Edit: Malek is the best character. Edit 2: Khang and Ga'raks kid are "super special" thing is irritating. Edit 3: I would have left the kids there, they are not the mission nor are most of them even human. Edit 4: I have to be honest as someone that dislikes likes children and can barely tolerate the ones that are related to me these children have been annoying to me from session 1. Edit 5: I can not stand this child BS anymore, they are not the goddamn mission, Earth is the mission and nothing is higher then Earth, execute Ga'rak for his intended actions against Earth. Edit 6: There is no such thing as an absolute moral obligations, morality and moral values are relative to the values of the individual and its society, I always did like the Terran Empire more then the Federation of Planets, the Empire more then the Rebellion.

I don't know why this guy thinks I care about him thinking I'm a sociopath but for any others that may read this I'm not a sociopath despite what this guy might think. First. I was tested and found to not have ASPD (Anti-Social Personality Disorder) which is what the technical term for sociopath is, also sociopath and psychopath are just pop culture names and not a real diagnosis terms. Edit: people say that you shouldn't let anger, hatred or jealousy control you or your actions, I just apply that same logic to empathy and compassion and I do feel empathy and compassion, they just don't control me. Seeing starving children is horrible, seeing women being beaten to death in Extremist Muslim countries (not all Muslims are problematic) is horrible, seeing despots commit genocide is again horrible but I'm not going to risk myself, my family or my friends by extending a completely open hand, any help rendered must be done in such a way as to not jeopardise the life we have now, it is IMHO the very definition of a necessary "evil" to ensure our current way of life continues with out risk first and render help to them second and that is not make someone a "sociopath". Second. Despite how popular it is now day to think that everyone that's not a bleeding heart liberal who morns every wrongful death is in someway mentally disturbed this is just not factually true, for hundreds of years child death was a common occurrence, in birth, in disease, from working the fields and child soldiers. Death is a part of life and human beings are just animals, we're not "higher" or "better" and at the end of the day as an animal I put the survival of myself, my family and my friends (pack, pride, troop, tribe ect) before that of strangers (the other pack, pride ect) this is just normal animal behaviour and is neither good nor bad in any objective META ethical sense. Third. It's annoying with how common it is to assume that someone with nihilistic views is just an edgy teen looking for attention with black makeup on, I'm not a nihilist because I think its cool or "edgy", I think its a horrible truth. I just prefer a horrible truth to a fantastic lie which is what all other world views I've read about ultimately seem to be, most philosophy seem to be based upon what "should be" not what "is" but all that can be determined to be true is what already "is" as what should be is relative to the desires and value of the individual and their culture, there is no objective "should". This is why I was firmly a nihilist before I had ever even heard the term as I only learnt about nihilism after someone accused me of being just an edgy teenager and was instantly annoyed that the only philosophy I'd every read that made any sense was dismissed as childish "edgy-ness", I have since come to view the other more... "enlightened" philosophies as being the childish ones, like a child crying out for their parents to come back after they've already died just because they can't accept the horrible truth, its time for humanity to grow up.
