Description from IMDB - While collecting artifacts on a distant planet, Daniel Jackson is knocked out after touching a mirror-like object. He awakens in the same room but is unable to locate the other members of SG-1. Assuming that they left without him, he dials up his return home but gets there to find that he is in a different reality. In this world, General Jack O'Neill and Catherine Langford are in charge of the Stargate program; Hammond is a Colonel reporting to O'Neill; and Sam Carter is a civilian scientist working on the project (and also engaged to O'Neill). More importantly, Earth is under attack from the Goa'uld who have already killed over 1 billion people. Carter believes that somehow, Jackson is from a parallel dimension. When Jackson learns the point of origin of the Goa'uld attack, he wants to return to his own universe, believing that his Earth will be similarly attacked.

In the dvd commentary he had a good joke about how His character and Sam Carter's relationship was much more closer and... tawdry? EVERY TIME she'd make him get up off his command console to fiddle with the Gate computer that chair she's now on. Imagine that he's been sitting in it for several hours on his duty watch. That's some very intimate stuff there. 🤣🤣

Attacking and taking the Cheyenne Mountain complex like that would be nearly impossible. The place is built as a fortress, and I find it hard to believe the Jaffa could have just breached the numerous heavy blast doors, hardpoints, and defense chokepoints inside the mountain. For that matter, I doubt staff weapons, even cannons, could breach the main blast doors, which were built to withstand a nuclear blast wave.

Didn't they come in via the gate? And the staff weapons seem to vary from 'sunburn' up to 'blow holes in solid stone' Assuming that what they are firing is plasma, it would have little issue cutting through just about any material, particularly if it's hydrogen+ plasma, or oxygen+ Both of those can atomicly tear most materials apart, with the exception of fluorine-carbon bonds. I'd assume that the Goa'uld would be capable of making something as rudimentary s a plasma cutter, even if the staff weapons can't get through doors.

@@kauske Staff weapons definitely are plasma based. What's more, they give off CO2 and CO as a byproduct of the blast, so it can be assumed that they use oxygen. Because of that a staff weapon could probably blast through a blast door at Cheyenne Mountain given enough time.

@@VestedUTuber Given 'enough time,' you could chip through with a tungsten chisel too. Or you could use a plasma torch which would likely do the job faster. :P

@@kauske Pretty sure a staff weapon's _plasma_ blasts would be a lot closer to a plasma torch than a tungsten chisel. The main reason why a staff weapon would take longer than a plasma torch is because it's not a constant stream.

@@VestedUTuber Based on what they do in the show? Not really, not even close. I've never seen them turn steel into molten slag in just minutes. Even then cutting through a blast door would probably take days, especially if it had ceramic or concrete layers.

Assuming that they’re using the same kind of machine guns in the first episode where the 4 guys in our universe that was playing poker were using, you have to remember that they were barely able to gun down even 2 of the Jaffas that was guarding Apophis at the times. So at the time, they would have to use a lot of bullets to gun them all down. It just wasn’t until later when they started using these new bullets called “plot line” and “time for Jaffa to die easily”.

In another episode, we see how a P-90 can cut a solid wood log in half with half magazine. That is impossible with 9mm normal bullets. If those bullets are modified, however...

Jaffa armor is extremely strong and likely made from Naquadah or another super-heavy element. Naquadah-tipped bullets weren't in use yet, so at the time the armor was still effectively bulletproof. Though now I wonder how much a suit of Jaffa armor weighs if it's made out of a material with that kind of density. Naquadah would have to be a supercritical element based on its particular properties, putting it well beyond even the transuranics and into "island of stability" territory.
