reminds me of the time my discord account got falsely suspended for being quote "under 13" when i was 15 at the time i kept having to fight the discord support team because they kept saying that changing the birthdate on my account wasnt necessary . I had to tell them 4 times that i couldnt access my account because the site thought i was under 13 before they finally gave me my account back

I have since seen many of your videos and am yet to find one that I do not find entertaining, I am amazed by the skill you have in art and how to tell a good story. This has been my experience with literally every support ticket I have ever summited to any company since 2020. Turns out when you hand your entire costumer service workflow to bots... they just kind of... run in circles doing nothing.

I feel like the moral of the story is to use text-message or email based two-factor instead of an app, because apps are unstable. This kind of crap would 100% happen to me if I didn't religiously use my roommate's phone for two-factor. _His_ tech doesn't behave like it's on _all_ the substances lmao

Text or email based two-factor authentication is also the most insecure version of 2fa because they are easiest to hack. The best would be sites letting us set up a secure app based method and then text or email as back up if that failed. Also using cloud backup on iPhone or android to keep your 2fa app settings in case something happens.

My Twitter got banned in July of 2020 after someone stole my password. I'd kept it since 2009. It sucks because by following their recovery instructions I looked like the person who stole my account. So I still get irrationally angry about it.

I know this likely won't be seen, but I just found this video ironic considering I'm dealing with a very similar problem with an online university website with 2 step verification. There is a massive loop issue because I can't access an old phone number from years ago. It would be fine of there were some kind of option to circumvent the issue, however there is not. Infact, any efforts to recovery or reset the account was met with the same issue everytime, looping me into yet another 2 step verification using the exact expired account info. Genius really. I feel your pain! Thanks for your awesome content!!

I totally feel this. I had something similar happen with FB during 2020. The message I got back from them was basically "sorry, we don't have enough people working to help with your stupid log in issue". What happened was I had to change my password and then when they asked me to log out every device i did. But I didn't save the password I just changed everything to (cuz I usually have my browser save them) and it logged me out of that device as well. *headdesk* I didn't really go through it with them though. I just made another account. *Sigh*

I have a similar problem right now with my instagram art account, it was hacked and I was logged out. I managed to get it disabled for now. I heard it's good to send them the same email until you crash that wall of automated responses and they actually acknowledge you.

The same thing happened to me when I was on and art sharing app for my program I used. I made a new account for other stuff besides my main acc for posting art, but I used the same email for it. That was on me, I should’ve just made a new email for it. I logged in to the new acc, it worked fine, then I wanted to log into my main one and it didn’t work. It just kept logging me into the new one. My main one was still there and my posts were fine, but I couldn’t do anything. I had a decent amount of followers and art friends I talked to that i couldn’t talk to anywhere else, it took me a long time to get what I had. I still haven’t gotten it back because I didn’t wanna talk to anyone, and haven’t been on it since. A few years later i restarted on a new app and will never make that mistake again-

The 7 messages saying to reset the password were probably automated, so probably no one has actually read them at that point. I would asume that the user suport takes their time to make sure that every singel ticket that they receive is valid and not from some scammer/hacker. The amount of support tickets that they get is probably quite high. But that "give us a review" was really unfortunate tho. Unsure on how or why that would happen. Congrats on getting your account back! Wondering if you got you other accounts (that were connected to the 2FA app) back?

I know how I feel. I hade an issue on steam kind of like this. One day, I wanted to log onto my other account. When I logged out, steam deleted my saved account. This sucked because in order to get back into the account you have to re-enter your password and username. After that, steam sends a code to your email, then You have to enter this code into steam. This glitched and gave me the wrong code like three times. I still haven't gotten back into my account for two month's.

As someone who has been around IT for my entire life. I would highly recommend following the 3-2-1 rule of data, 3 copies, 2 locations, 1 offsite. Especially when it comes to 2 factor and password vaults. I ensure that I have at least cloud backups for things that I can't control directly on my phone. Having seen how many phones get destroyed in an irrecoverable manner, I highly recommend having a backup plan of if your phone and wallet get stolen.

I’m currently in a situation just kinda like this but it’s roblox, yes roblox. I randomly got logged out of my roblox account, typed in my usual password but something odd happened, it thought it was wrong.. I retyped my password over and over again, and nothing, just nothing.. But here’s the thing, I have waited LONGER than a month to get my big sister to recover my account, but we did reach out to roblox support, but all they just said “The account, “User” have been updated.” or whatever, but it didn’t give me A SINGLE piece of info for the account. And i’m still waiting to this day, it’s very painful. : - )

I can relate to being locked out of something precious to me Happened a back more than five months ago, I’m so happy you were able to get it back Here’s my story I am a GachaTuber, and have been using different Lunime apps for around 3-4 years now. My channel is full of examples. And one day I was making a skit of my characters in a jungle for a day or two, now I was going to edit a character but my characters all turned into a npc thingy and it said *Your device either doesn’t support this app or doesn’t have enough space* I panicked and rushed to my brother for help, I started crying and begged him to help. But when I giggled it, it said it was a common accurance and could be solved by A: Deleting apps, or B: Deleting Gacha. Now I immediately looked to my device's GB. But it was fine, very normal and healthy. At this point my family was in the room as I bawled my eyes out, practically having a panic attack, but I deleted apps, images, videos, etc. Until my GB looked really good, at this point, it still couldn’t work. I had lost all of my characters, but I had one hope: The transfer numbers, I had screenshots of it a few months back bc I have anxiety and paranoia. So I had one last option, to delete the app, my characters, the backgrounds, the stories I had saved for later, and all 2 years of my progress, my happiness, my sadness, my anger. Gacha was an escape for me, I would do it daily to help with my untreated depression and anxiety, but now that it was gone… I had nothing, nothing was left. When I deleted it and tried to add my data back, it didn’t work. I started crying more, and my family was not helpful, they kept telling me how it’s just an app and it doesn’t matter. And it isn’t a big deal and I shouldn’t be upset, but I was, Gacha helped me through everything, it helped me build confidence and make friends, yet I can’t get it back. I went through the five stages of grief for a few months, the first stage; Denial. I was begging and pleading for it to come back, but that’s not how life works. I learned later that the app thinks I still have the data and I needed a new device to use it, but I couldn’t get another device. That would cost far too much. So I rushed to my bed, and I ignored my family, they didn’t know how I felt or could give any comfort. Never. They couldn’t help, the only person who could help or tried to was my father, who offered to reach out to them, but I knew it wouldn’t work. Damn, just writing this is bringing back memories, pain from my loss. I skipped the second stage of grief, and just went to bargaining. I was in my bed, lights off, head under a pillow and my face covered in tears. My brother was worried and watched me bawl my eyes out, but he never could understand this. I begged to whatever god existed (I’m an atheist btw) that I could trade something, anything! Just for my escape back, for the memories I had made back. Memories of the fun times I had stung like a jellyfish, but no doctor could heal this. After a bit of begging, I went into depression. I was crying more and remembered what characters I lost, which was all of dream smp characters, OC’s, cuphead, etc. Eventually, my mother came inside with chocolate. She said it was Dopamine Chocolate (aka areo) I hesitantly ate it, while ignoring my mother's unhelpful advice. It didn’t help at all, all that could help was my characters back, I would pay hundreds, thousands for it back. It was like a therapy to me, but it was gone. My teachers told me for a few weeks that I seemed down, and very drained. Because I was! I had a hundred detailed characters saved up over the years GONE in the blink of an eye, everything was gone. I vented to my friends and they all shared sympathy to me, but it was better because they were gachatubers as well. Now I’m better, I still grieve for my characters but it’s lessened, Grief for losing an account never goes away. But it lessens, I never got it back, and never will until I get a new iPad because I cannot make gacha's with a phone. I made back less than a quarter in this time, because of all the grief and schoolwork not slowing down for my grief, I had to just swallow it and suck it up. Though it hurts, and still haunts my dreams. I am planning on making new designs, I’m so happy that you could get it back, unlike me. Twitter is much more different than Gacha, probably more chaotic but easier? I’m not sure, as I don’t have it. Goodbye -Signed, the grieving Juliet, aka, Lapinajustleft

I made a twitter, and used it for a month, after that month, twitter asked me to add a phone number to keep using it, sad cuz I could not add it, I stopped using it, after a week, I opened the page and discovered I GOT BANNED because the account posted some Elon Musk links, I could not even use it, and you are telling me the account posted by itself, I'm sure someone has hacked it but I cant do anything about it! (I didnt even know who elon is) I asked the support and they said to me: Oh, You broke the rule, so we cant do anything about it

Shoutouts to me getting locked out on twitter because I entered in my birthday. being 18 at the time I assumed there would be no issues, but they immediately locked me out because I had apparently made my account before I was 13. I didn't know I had, I barely used twitter until I was at least 16. I had to then send them my id to confirm I was in fact over 13 and also wait for them to apparently delete all of my activity from before I was 13. Fair enough, I don't think I had anything from back then (might not have even done anything at all, honestly) that would be valuable to keep, so I don't care if they're taken down. The stressful thing tho was if I got locked out for over 2 months, I'd apparently be locked out *permanently.* I just had to wait for them to let me in after sending in my id, and after about a FULL MONTH they finally let me back in. By the time I came back I immediately checked when I had joined it, and found out I had joined *7 DAYS* before I turned 13. I WAS FURIOUS!! You're telling me I got locked out for a month because I was 12 on twitter for a full 7 days? I will never not be furious at that whole debacle.

What does "backup code" mean? Is it like the "resend code" option on some sites?

Backup codes are like an "in case of emergency break glass" box. If you somehow lose your 2fa generating codes, you can use the one time backup code and get into your account. Most sites either generate a singular code or multiple at once. This code can be reset once you've used it up, which will give you a brand new one to use. They are a one time use, so if you've used your last backup code, you're uh.. screwed, unless you get help from the support team on whatever platform you're using.

I can't relate to having my own business and the stress this situation would cause, but I know the pain on a more... casual level, I suppose. I forgot the passwords for my PS4 account AND the email address with it. I can't change the PS4 password without getting into the email, and I can't change the email password without my old, dead laptop because that is the only device that email will recognize... so both accounts remain in limbo and likely will until the end of days... woohoo...
