STARLINK for RVs | speed test in a waitlisted area | First look and testing of STARLINK FOR RVS

We got our Starlink for RVs in this week and quickly wanted to put together a video of our first impressions of this expensive system. Overall, an easy set-up but we have yet to see speeds worth the high prices. Check in the comments for our updates.

When the dish was on the ground it looked like part of the building was blocking the signal... But ontop of the roof it should have been good to go. I guess there are just too many people on the East coast using Starlink and bogging down the entire system. lol

Yes, we found more success putting on the roof

Always do a reboot from within the Starlink App on the wifi and the router once a day. That will dramatically help with speeds... Also put the dish into stow mode and then hit un stow once a day and that will also force to dish to find a more preferred satellite which helps the speeds big time. I am in a waitlist area with the RV version and my speeds are always up near 70-100Mb download. Get 2-3 mesh units as well.... Huge difference !! AWESOME!!!

30 day update: Internet is spotty now right AFTER the thirty day threshold. Lots of power consumption: 30 days = 26.5 Kw/h We should've returned it while we had the chance, thousands of new users over the month. I am on a FB starlink group with lots of folks complaining

have the same issue here on a wait list and that it would take untill 2023 so im going to order a rv one as well just to use as a residential

Just remember, it’ll be throttled down when residential makes it to your area!

@@parishskoolie At that point maybe you could get the residential. I only know one person personally who has residential in my area beacuse he ordered back in 2020. I'm sure there is a handful who have it. But my area is such a poor area that I'm wondering if the rv would actually be good for us for a hot minute. I'm in a very rural area. Thoughts?

Thanks for the info. Maybe if you go to an area that IS available you'll get better results? I know you said you were kinda on the boarder with the available area, right? It'd been cool to check.

I'm nowhere near an avaible area and I'm getting 200mbps down 20up 30ping right next to the router. East tx. Been using it for a week Anda half only had one congested night where speeds dipped down to 5mpbsdown. I have 100% view of the sky so I'm not sure if that's why I'm having such good luck.

Using mine in non-wait list areas (boondocking,etc.), I get speeds anywhere from 50-350mbps, 98% of the time.

We purchased RV. Still on the waiting list. It’s not working for us. In peak times we only get around a 2-5mbps download. So sad. Glad we stayed on the wait list

Residential gets first priority, however it may not be available in your area. This is one of the reasons we went with RV

Almost 2 weeks here east tx and I have been having great experience. No availability in my area and been working just fine, actually excellent.

I should’ve stayed on the waitlist! So far it’s keeping up but we aren’t using it full time. I just hope it survives this texas heat up on the roof.

@@parishskoolie that ain't no lie, make sure you have extra power for heating turned off In the app. It's to prevent ice build up.

Mr. Rod, I'm on the wait-list also in southern Alabama. Been wondering if I should give the RV version a try. Are you finding that yours is usuable even during what may be peak use hours? Thanks for any input you can offer.

This 11:35 minute video uploaded within 20mins. This was shortly after the final speed test which seemed to perform really poorly. We are using it in the shop while we work on the bus. In the past three days we’ve successfully streamed TikTok live as well as running background music & WiFi called. It seems to be running excellent for our needs between 8am-3pm.
