Could the performance improvement be from the unit adjusting itself better?

Yes and no. Starlink has a whole slew of ground based stations across the world. The dish connects to the sat sat sends information to the ground that requests the data and shoots it back to your location. How many people are on the network determines much of Starlink's speed. Unlike a regular ISP which can continuously add more hardware and such Starlink is static. Its static until new ground based stations come online and new sats are put in orbit. Its a coyote chasing the rabbit issue. Now as they push new firmware to better manage data things do get better but this year anyhow they doubled users which has resulted in lower performance per user. The whole thing is technically still beta and even in beta imo this thing is win.

Been using this all year for my RV. I have traveled all over the western USA and have taken this thing internationally. It is a godsend. I get anywhere from 100-250 megs a second generally with low latency. So for myself my benchmarks are pretty easy. If I can stream a 4k stream, play a online game, make a phone call, do a FaceTime chat, and download whatever then I am one happy camper. Benchmarks vary immensely from literally a second after you do one. Real world use to myself is the proof. Some caveats I have found are this year the subscriber base has doubled basically which as equated to a lowering of speeds on average. I have noticed when Starlink pushes a firmware update the first week can be spotty as the whole network seems to be adjusting to it. A couple of annoying aspects is Starlink's push to save on manufacturing costs they eliminated the ethernet port for your own router making you buy a external ethernet adapter for your base unit. The base station which is a router that has the latest standards is probably just fine for most but it utterly lacks any of the user settings the cheapest wifi router would have. I believe they are there but Starlink has chosen not to give a customer access to that part of the router. The other thing that is annoying is they chose to use a different connector for both the dish and router. It is a PoE cable but rather then a traditional connector they chose to be what looks to be a USB head and repined the ethernet cables to it. I do get why..it has a IP57 water rating which requires seals and such. If your not tech savvy a new one of those cables will cost you a bundle. If your looking for a case to put it in everything will fit in a Pelican 1609/1610 case.

The military use the starlink for their drone and cruise ships are going to start using it such as Carnival I believe.

It's amazing how many naked women fit through that little cable!

I've always found that once you run Speedtest, remember those numbers, close it out, launch it again, then re-run the test. It'll almost ALWAYS be better the second (or third) time around. But the best part of Starlink...is if your phone supports WiFi calling...you've got phone service in those "dead zones"!

I have the same starlink at a registered home address in north east Arizona and I’m only getting 40mbps download and 3mbps upload. Weird.
@dewdropin20102 жыл бұрын
If you’re using there ethernet adapter some of them were faulty. You definitely should be getting better speeds than that.You might need to reset the system. Unplug it and plug it back in three times.

@@dewdropin2010 thanks! I just filled out a support ticket. I love my starlink but I’m definitely getting much slower speeds than others.
