I am so relieved to hear what you've said in this video. Everything you said is what I've been saying and have concluded that the only choice I can make is to vote for the Green Party of England and Wales. The Labour Party do not care about Labour (workers). They do not care about education and advancement or in people reaching their full potential. They don't care about the NHS. They don't care about a better future or the environment. (They care about profit.) We are united by the fact that we are all workers (retired workers, volunteer workers, chronically sick or disabled, poor, low or high paid, well paid workers.) They don't care about us. They don't believe in the redistribution of wealth. They are Tories in waiting. The Trades Union Congress (TUC) and trades unions should be seriously considering why they are still financially supporting the Labour Party. They should be talking to the Green Party. They should be asking their members what kind of future do they want to see for themselves and their families? I want to see a more equitable economy. I want education to be free. I want to see children in well maintained and funded schools. I want to see people getting paid a decent living wage that reflects the true value of the work they do, covers their needs easily and then some. I want everyone to have a safe home and a safer, greener way to live. I want to see a properly funded NHS. Starmer's Labour are an abomination! Our Party has been shanghaied. Time to grow up and face the facts. A Labour government offers nothing more than the Conservatives. Starmer is a charlatan. The Green Party is the only sensible alternative and they will get my vote because I'm done with fear voting. Keep your histrionics to yourself and seriously consider a real alternative that will invest in people, homes, NHS, education, transport and will nationalise power, water and railways. They will sack our bent electoral system and replace it with proportional representation, replace the House of Lords with an elected upper house. We deserve better. Our children and grandchildren deserve a future. 💚

To your point about a political choice, yes I agree but do I think further education is more important than primary and secondary education no I don't so if there is a limited budget for education then I would drop the pledges to scrap the college and university fees in favour of primary an secondary education with a view to reevaluate the policy in the future which is exactly what Keir Starmer has said he will do.

I'm not surprised KS is having to go back on his words , if he didn't new labour would never be accepted by the establishment . What we are witnessing is KS bowing to the establishment and obeying his orders , you can forget labour as any form of progressive politics . If you want progressive left of center politics you must for for the Green Party .

Well said Owen, I am right behind you. (I could tell you so many awful things that have happened to my family and I ) because of the Tories. I've been a socialist all of my life and I thought that I could see a light at the end of the tunnel at long last, but bit by bit Kier S and his cronies wiped away any hope I had left for my family, particularly my two youngest aged 20 and 23. Enjoy listening to your show. J

Cannot and will not vote for Labour whilst Starmer is leader As far as the next general election I wouldn't be surprised if we ended up with a coalition given how disillusioned people seem to be with both main parties.
@marcadams440 Жыл бұрын
You are correct Owen. I voted for Kier but that doesn't mean I'm now stuck having to defend the indefensible. It means I'm stuck having to defend wanting Labour to beat the tories. I also don't carry the burden of ruining democracy as liar as been synonymous with politician since way before Kier entered the scene. I wholeheartedly agree with you. It is a travesty that politicians lie without consequences. But that is the reality; the conversations have to go.

I don't know that I agree. To be clear, the demolition of health and social services has had a devastating effect on my life and I am terrified of what another Tory 5 years might do to my trans friends. But Starmer is such a threat to the future, to the serious systemic change that we need, I do wonder if risking it is worth it to get him out of the Labour leadership. The Labour Party is the best hope to actually see change in time to avert catastrophe, and the fact it has been co-opted by establishment stooges like Starmer is a huge threat to all working class people. We might need to be brave and take a risk to oust him, rather than behaving like the captive votes he clearly thinks we are.
@marcadams440 Жыл бұрын
@@LizbetNene You are quite perfectly demonstrating what people on the centre left accuse the far left/Corbyn supporters of doing; torpedoing Labour into the ground in the naive drive for a social justice utopia. Let's be absolutely clear about one thing: not voting for Labour in the next general will, without a doubt help the Tories. You have ri remove yourself fully from reality to suggest that will help working class people. Let's win first. Then you can shift the direction of Labour from within.
@LizbetNene Жыл бұрын
@@marcadams440Genuine questiion; why do you think an electoral victory would make Starmer more receptive to left wing pressure?
@marcadams440 Жыл бұрын
@@LizbetNene I'm not claiming it would. But really think about what you are saying. You want to leverage the very real suffering of people that desperately need a Labour government, in order to apply pressure to Keir to force him to the far left. This is not a position born out of a desire to help disadvantaged people; it is born out of a desire to win an ideological battle; to reinsert an ideology thst left Labour in its worse position in decades and handed the Tories an unprecedented majority.

Starmer's mini-me, the man who seemed to pop up from virtually nowhere Wes Streeting, gave a talk explaining his NHS policy to the right wing libertarian think tank, the Policy Exchange, which published a paper calling for schools to "out" trans children to their potentially hostile and transphobic parents. Funnily enough, Starmer was reported as making a supportive comment about this policy when the government announced it, saying as a parent that he would want to know, but not explaining why. This is the sort of people that the Labour leadership seems to wish to please.
