Not sure what they're doing with phase ships in this version. Your afflicter build looks good, but I ran into the story mission phase fleets and they were ridiculously easy to beat compared to the earlier version, and that's with my fleet being about half as powerful as the previous game.

The AI doesn't really know what to do with phase ships, but they are still very viable as flagships. I used them to take on superior fleets, even without the specialized skills. I think the developers are trying to encourage the player to use them in tandem with a well put together fleet, rather than trouncing entire enemy armadas on your own.

Antimatter blaster is the best vanilla weapon

Sneak Attack Beginning at 1st level, you know how to strike subtly and exploit a foe’s distraction. Once per turn, you can deal an extra 1d6 damage to one creature you hit with an attack if you have advantage on the attack roll. The attack must use a finesse or a ranged weapon. lol no but seriously, I was just about to make a video using the Shade instead of the Afflictor, because of the insane value of the emp emitter and its ability to stunlock large ships. I used two antimatter blasters and a light dual MG.

​@@LowSettings shade is nice to wipe out fighters or deal some bits of damage with emp, but has less OP to play with so 3-rd blaster won't fit properly. I'm usually driving afflictor with 2 blasters, but yeah, 3-rd one makes a difference for sure.

Does Afflictor system works on shields too? or just the ship itself.

Does the AI know how to use that ship? I see these for sale all the time and wonder why I'm not being overwhelmed by them... not that the enemy needs them to overwhelm me. :(

The ai can use it but not like this my dude. The a.i. likes to vent and does not use the cooldown speed in bullet time

@@LowSettings - It seems like the AI handles phase ships a lot worse in this version.

On the other hand that does mean leaving other phase ships to the player while everyone else is a regular fleet to make a Combined Arms while taking advantage of fleet skills. Unfortunately, the submarine wolfpack fleet suffers.

Almost anywhere, they are pretty common . . . though Tri Tech is more likely to have the high tech one which I believe is the one in this video.
