Love the old school coolness of Derek and his style. Shows a reputation and good work is worth more over a flashy setup. His work truck and tools aren't fancy, just effective and perfect for him. Would love to see more of these videos!

Derek is a great example of how the highest price tools and equipment don't necessarily amount to doing better quality work. He wasn't fussy about his pressure washer or vacuum, he wasn't talking GSM count on specific towels or different chemicals, he just keeps it simple and relies on his experience. Awesome stuff.

Hey, I'm young and wanted to start a small detailing. I was wondering if you had any advice. I'm not a professional at paint correction and straight up with the costumer. I have been practicing over the last year and have been doing research on how to be effective/detailing interior and exterior.
@evolover9995 жыл бұрын
Jose Gap If you don’t feel comfortable doing something. Don’t do it! Simple as that. If you just want to wash cars or do interior details that’s completely fine. If you really feel like you want to do everything, offer cheaper prices until you feel like you’re satisfied with your work. Then start charging full price. Some people don’t mind letting you learn. It would probably be better to start with friends and family first tho.

I'm really surprised to see he doesn't carry a pop up canopy of some kind. I would think being in Southern CA, the sun would play a major factor in washing cars and I doubt he always has the luxury of a garage or shade. I've always been told to never wash a car in direct sunlight. A pop up canopy would be so beneficial for a mobile detailer.

Not the most organized cuz of the snug top but it works for him. Most mobile detailers here in SoCal you see will just have their equipment on a flatbed and then at the end of the night they will store their equipment in their garage that’s not bolted down to the plywood. There is a lot of mobile detailers here in SoCal they get very territorial. It’s funny because you’ll know your client went with somebody else sometime because their carpets will have a different pattern. Yes that’s right, these mobile detailers like to leave their signature carpet pattern to mark their clients vehicles so the next detailer will know who did it lol 😂

They leave paw prints at a minimum, but lately, I have been getting scratches on the roof and hood of F150 and Explorer. I think what happens is when we let the dogs out at night, the cats gets startled and bolt off the vehicle, leaving scratch marks. Please help.

Water reclamation mats are great and all but what do you do when servicing a car on a sloped surface ? That could be often in California
@Sror3d5 жыл бұрын
suGIXXaru most mobile detailing businesses in California just leave their dryvac on where the water runs down so it collects it. Or sometimes they use two. It doesn’t amount to much water as they work quickly by spraying it down and then shampooing then final rinse.

First, you need to do some research to see if your area is saturated with detailers. If not, then you probably can do well. Just be prepared that it will take time to build a good reputation and client base. you may not make much the first couple years but stick with it. You can advertise if you want but I found the best advertisement is word of mouth and that takes some time to spread.

You will need a pump to supply all but the lowest flow pressure washers. There are only a few I can think of that can draw from a tank through gravity or other passive mode.
