This is so weird, only yesterday I was suddenly thinking about learning Thai, and then you make a video about it. I think that's a sign I should do it haha

I would recommend the comprehensible thai youtube channel based on the ALG method. They have over 1000 hour of comprehensible input content starting from absolute beginner to advance divided into 8 levels. The idea behind the method is to use solely this type of comprehensible input (or crosstalk) and delay any other form of learning or output (which I am currently doing as my own experiment), but it can also very well be used as a complementary ressource
@JamesColemanChess3 ай бұрын
God it’s beyond boring though, and I usually have a high boredom threshold. I actually gave up Thai for a few months after trying to use that. Endless hours and delaying output definitely was not for me. No hate , I’m sure it does work well if you have the perseverance but definitely wasn’t my learning style

@@rbbywsbi currently at 60 hours and did my first 1 on 1 yesterday. It's still listening to thai but I speak to my teacher in English. Since it's way more engaging it's also more effective imo. I plan to eventually make a whole video about the journey but it'll be a while. I'm hoping to reach 100 hours before the end of the year although I wish I'd done more hours. But life happens haha

my latest attempt is to "find a song you love and put the text in translator and write all of it and note the vocabulary" ..but this only applies and works if you know what you see... so i used books before. and ling app and keng thai app to practise consonants need plenty of paper too and tiny pens and series: if you don't here it you don't learn it. and yes i don't know why i am so into learning thai. i have no purpose other than now that i can order a beer let's go on vacation there

I am learning Hindi Script right now, and its just so difficult right now for me to read in Hindi, I am like 1 month into Hindi script learning. Learning a new script is as difficult as learning any other part of language, we take for granted how easily we can read in our native langs. But thats because we have spent years learning our language, and starting a new script is just as difficult as any other part of learning new language.
