Hey! I just want to say that I really appreciate your videos. I already watched this video before (more than 7-ish years ago) and practiced tons of licks that you uploaded and now that I'm relearning the things i used to play, you are my go to channel. I enjoyed watching your recent contents and you are one of the reasons that I want to get back playing guitar. I hope you can read this message and I just want you to know that you are one of the people I look up and I hope you keep doing what you do best. 🤘🎸

One comment on some random video I saw that has kinda worked for me is trying to downpick everything and then once you've hit a wall, go to alternate picking and it'll feel way easier to play at a speed that was originally hard to alternate pick at.

The first one is maybe the hardest exercise I've ever encountered. All the 3-notes per string exercises are easy to shred fast but this is god damn difficult! Great video!
@Jonnyguitar18778 жыл бұрын
Yeah seriously those two note patterns are really not as easy as three note per string scales. I went from a bluesy dude to being decently fast with modes and still kind of moderate speed with pentatonics. Working on that now since I still love playing fuzzed out bluesy stuff.

For shred lick #2, I took the last six notes (the 15th, 17th, and 19th fret notes on the high B and E strings), and moved them down three frets for the G and D strings, and two more frets for the A and E strings. Then after that I slide the 19th fret B note up to a C, and finish with a pentatonic lick in the 17th fret position.

Fantastic video Robert, loved it! That one may actually help me to shred. Something better after practicing for 30 years.
@ubershredder19898 жыл бұрын
the first lick is quite challenging if you want to play it correctly, fast, clean and articulately. Ive been playing for 15 years, and can shred up and down the fretboard, but its only recently i have become accustomed to 2-note per string alternate picking licks, ala eric johnson/zakk wylde. it is very important to be aware of pick slanting when executing these licks.
@Leechmouth8 жыл бұрын
Should the pick be held slanted or kept straight for this kind of thing? Also just wondering since a lot of people seem to find the first exercise difficult? What scales or modes are you using to shred? I'm super comfortable with the pentatonic scale mostly because I play stoner/doom stuff but it seems like most shred tutorials I check out are all Phrygian stuff. Just wondering if that's an easier start in to it.
@ubershredder19898 жыл бұрын

hi thanks for the lesson. however, many lessons on youtube contain lots and lots of talking and little guitar playing. lessons are very slow and over analysed. can you do a 3 minute one with just playing...played up to speed, played slow and then played with tab? That would be great for guitarists like me

Awesome! I have a problem that I hope that you can help me with. When I am improvising I play mostly legato, but when I want to change to alternate picked 3 notes per string patterns my hands choke. I cant really fluently start an alternate picked pattern in a solo dispite the fact that I can play it flawless when I am just practising it in the different diatonic positions. I hope that this makes sence and hope that you have a piece of advise. Keep rocking!

hey boss, can you please tell me the other type of picking that you are using when you are talking about the E minor? the other one is alternate but you are using a different one.
@JMetalGuitarist6 жыл бұрын
Economy picking. Looks like he’s holding it flatter on the way back down so it catches the strings better. Makes sense. You slant the pick down a little descending a scale so like, do the inverted version of that after you hit the highest note to go back down.
