Please keep us updated on what you decide. Our business is very young. We are only 3 months in and are getting calls almost every day for 30 yard dumpsters. I think we will be considering a different setup before long too

Had to jump on a deal for a KW T270 26k gvwr hooklift truck with two dumpsters (needing floor repair) for 50k, but welded them some new floors. Still waiting on my CA motor carrier permit to be legal. Thanks for the content, always get some nuggets of information.

Where can I start to look for deals like this one?
@Cris_V_00
@Cris_V_00 Жыл бұрын
@@mindys.4632 I searched listings with misspelled names or missing information. For example this truck was labled on Craigslist as a Kenworth truck and didn't have keywords in the title. I just searched different variations of words and scanned the images. But this is only the begining of the challenge when starting a business. It also helps that I know how to weld and have been a mechanic in the past. Hopefully you don't live here in California because you will have to get an emissions compliant vehicle. In other states it is more economical to buy an older truck.

If you buy a hook lift truck it will likely be standard rail. Your “backup trailer” could be standard rail and let you eventually phase out your current trailer and cans leaving you with all standard rail. It might be a little inconvenient in the short run, but would be better in the long run.

I have thought that as well. It's def a move I'm willing to make. Feels weird to sell my current setup though. It's the "devil I know"

I personally would go with a hook lift truck is they hooked up truck or even a under CDL roll off truck cable pool and start transitioning And once you get enough standard real dumpsters sell that setup. And having employees as nice I have 3 guys in my company that can drive the truck and trailer set up and they all have CDl's. I can't even tell you the last time I was in my truckI think it's been a couple months at least.

I will have a hooklift eventually, but right now I'm becoming the primary go to for these medium duty dumpsters for residential rentals. So I'm going to ride the wave!

Why does everyone insist on dragging the container onto the trailer instead of pulling the trailer underneath the container?
@rollingops
@rollingops 2 жыл бұрын
Same thought. I've had the same cable for 2 years even....not that I should. But I know guys that broke theirs in less than 3 months. And I'd bet anything they drag it, so bad for their trans as well!

thank God all I had to buy was just the trailer. it hurt the wallet but the truck is paid for trailer is also paid for but it was just a lot up front. to be honest they will still pay for themselves quickly just not as quickly

Thought about throwing a maxxd rail system on a f550 or f600? Keep the same dumpsters but also the perks of not running a trailer.

@@rollingops nice! Hope to see a video on it, I’m thinking of doing that. Be a lot less than getting into a hooklift and all new dumpsters. Then you can always keep your trailer in case truck breaks down.

Is there any tricks I should know on how to lineup the trailer to the dumpster. I just bought one and have a hard lining it up.
@rollingops
@rollingops 2 жыл бұрын
If it's maxxd or lonestar, line up the little "arms" that stick out of the side of the dumpster with the middle of you fenders. If those line up in the mirrors you should be able to pull it on

Have you considered doing some paid consulting for someone starting in a different area? Also, are you building cash to purchase more real estate or just focused on reinventing back into your business?
@rollingops
@rollingops 2 жыл бұрын
I have considered it. And would be willing. I have done some work for people, typically website builds. I try to buy more real estate every year because that is my long term move. But growing the business is important to grow the cashflow to feed the real-estate, otherwise it will peak.

Your area must be different around here the "Big guys" run the dumps and charge almost what I do for a 20 yard for a 30 or 40 yard. If you have to buy a truck... Then the hooklify / cable truck is a better option. If you already have a 3/4ton or 1 ton truck then the trailer makes way more sense. You can't find a hook truck around here for less then $40k. If you do its a 2000 truck with 400k miles no thanks.
