Good work, Timmy. Glad you mentioned the rebuild option. While not always easy, any Toyota manual (of the right vintage) generally describes the process to service the starter, as servicing the common parts that wear out was fairly typical. I did my 2.7kW starter (a big one) for ~£25 using OE parts. The manuals also show a few other tests that you can run.
