Hey Flexiny! I have a project for you that you might be interested in. Its an old massey ferguson tractor (i dont know the model) and it was imported to Estonia when the iron curtain fell. It hasn't been started in over 15 years but grandpa said it was in perfect condition when he left it standing, but when i checked some things were missing so i thought maybe you'd like to give a helping hand and make a video about it?

The K-jetronic system is the hardest tuning I have ever seen. Thanks for sharing your experience
@Dexter-qy5bl3 ай бұрын
I have been tinkering with my own e21, a year older than yours, also us market, and have a few words of advice for your current set up. Namely one that it sounds/looks as if you never balanced the fuel, the fuel distributor has 4 adjustment screws underneath covers near the fuel lines to the injectors, you will need to extract the injectors and measure them against each other playing the screws up and down until you reach equilibrium, this should help remove some of the misfire and chop at idle. Also that fuel tank may be quite filthy, make sure you clean it as the k-jet fuel systems are a head ache to deal with and will require a all component rebuild/swap if fouled. Your fuel distributor insides looked lovely so take care to avoid a rebuild as you will have to forsake some filters due to lack of availability. Finally you should advance the spark distributor beyond what the manual says as they contract slop over time and need further adjustment, to correct this remove the vertical slop in the distributor drive shaft, key word "distributor shims" (inner diameter 13mm), change the gear if need be and ensure that timing is correct between cam and crank. Keyword "power timing" Also you are probably running a little rich, get a 3mm long hex key and turn it to the right until exhaust burbles disappear, best results use a vacuum gauge or get an exhaust sniffer. Right now it sounds like a lawn mower. Give that machine the note that it deserves.

I grew up driving a 2 liter 6 cylinder E21 with a 4 barrel Solex. Rare spec imported from Germany. Recaro seats, limited slip diff. Pulled really nice but didn't handle very well. Very nose heavy. Loved it so much though. No power steering. Heavy clutch. You can't find those anymore. Only the 4 cylinder ones are left and some really expensive 323s.

Looks like he swapped out the sun-rotted front seats for good used replacements. In N Europe, bodywork rots away whilst interiors stay nice. In South / Western US, the opposite is true - no road salt, but lots of UV to destroy upholstery and interior plastics.

Typical KE-Jetronic issues, stuck metering valve. Would not recommend using a hammer to open up the head. Lot of sensitive stuff inside it and I got some bad experiences with it. Usually old varnish, rust and low quality fuel are the main issues with the metering valve. I'm surprised the injectors had not clogged up, usually also happens when things sit with old varnish. The car itself is very neat don't see these anywhere.
