I used to keep my baby chicks inside the house until they were sturdy enough for the coup outside..... I don't remember losing any of them that way.... I had a spare bedroom up stairs where I keep them in an old time chicken brooder that had a light fixture that kept them toasty warm..... I raised New Hampshire Reds which I considered the best chickens ever especially for eating....

I know there isn't supposed to be any difference, but I always thought that brown eggs tasted richer than the white eggs. I raised Buff Orpingtons for quite a few years but had several varieties when I was growing up. Beautiful farm you have there!

There is a difference any small poultry farmer will agree, especially small flocks that can get to green grasses and worms, bugs. The yolk will be more defined and much darker or richer. The better the chicken's diet, the better the eggs! Well water rather than city water makes a difference too.

Nice to see people showing off their flocks, its so rewarding. Awesome setup you have! I have raised flocks from 50 to 300 birds in different states north & south with different setups of coops & runs but haven't done one as nice as yours yet. I'm inspired now.

We're waaay up north in the Idaho panhandle. I haven't even set eggs for hatching yet since it's still in the 40's during the daytime. Too cold to have tiny babies! I'll start my eggs in the incubator the 1st week of May, by the time they hatch temps should be alot more tolerable for little bird bodies. I love your setup!

Ducks rival chickens in egg production rate and lay bigger eggs. Due to the thick layer of fat on the outside of their muscle tissue, they’re also more cold tolerant than chickens. Khaki Campbells are top tier egg producers and Peking are supreme for meat. I breed them together for both these qualities and for the advantage of hybrid vigor. Ducks require about twice the amount of niacin as chickens do, so sunflower seeds are an excellent feed source. They will also eat the leaves of the sunflower and the flower head is edible for humans. The stalks can be used for cattle feed - I give them to my neighbors since I don’t keep cattle on my property. The hulls of the seeds can be used as a mulch to suppress grass or weed growth. The seeds are full of calories, which isn’t particularly healthy for them, since it will quickly fatten them up and give them heart attacks, but that’s how I dispatch them since the alternative is too bloody for me. They’re also safe to raise along turkeys since they don’t pass deadly diseases like chickens do. Male turkeys can be alternative companions for ducks when you don’t want a drake to fertilize their eggs and their feathers make excellent fletching for arrows.

Hello HT! They r cute and funny to watch, Lol, I’ve never seen a chicken fall before. U did not mention a heat lamp for the coop, question: what should temperature be around for me not to need a heat lamp n there for them? Thank u

Yayyy!! They are SOoooo cute!! I cannot wait to get more chicks. They all look super healthy and happy. Great job 👍🏻👍🏻 I finally got the bunny coop finished yesterday just like your setup for the most part! lol Thank you so much for the info and video. That was a huge help for real! Now I have to figure out how to keep male bunny from constantly wanting to impregnate the female. Should I give them a day or two together and maybe he will get it out of his system or separate them? Was just concerned he’s going to stress her to the max with all that. They’re only 5 1/2 months old.

KZbin is definitely NOT promoting or suggesting your videos. I am subscribed, and have been for a long time now, and I just started thinking about some of the creators who I haven’t seen any vids from in a long, long time. I even forgot the name of your channel, I scrolled through my subscriptions and found you, and saw that you’ve had recent videos. That really makes me pretty mad KZbin. never gives me notifications or suggests your channel.
