About Life In Farmland: Our family strives to be as self-sufficient as we can be. We grow a lot of food in the garden, raise or hunt for our meat, cut and use firewood to heat our house in the cold Minnesota winters. We want to know where our food comes from, what goes into it. We strive to live a slower and sustainable lifestyle with family being our first priority. On this channel, you will find a lot of how-tos, shared experiences, recipes, and videos of things we are trying and learning more about.

I feel a real kinship with you. Definitely a kid from Farmland. I am from Nebraska and I recognize the blue jeans and canvas coat as a fully legitimate suit for playing in the snow, LOL! Nice job with the video. Assuming good clothing, a compass, escape azimuth, whistle, light tarp and cordage for shelter, fire-making capability, water, and some food bars. Then being lost is an adventure instead of a panic.

I asked a guy that lived a lot in the woods trapping and hunting what he kept to start fires. Expecting some crazy answers he actually told me a bic lighter. He said your nuts if you don't. If Boon could have had one, he would have had one. Good show man.

Great video. It was easy because you were prepared. You had your knife, gathered the kindling of various sizes before lighting the tinder. Good job encouraging a life skill. Nothing like a warm fire to improve a situation even a small one to cook lunch. Thanks. Good work.

Truly great video LiF, very much enjoyed this. That is one dandy bushcraft knife. I love winter, your trek in the snow was great, yes on the fire but you needed tea or coffee in that mug man!

I was surprised to hear you mention Dick Proenneke and Les Stroud. These are two big influences on my views of the outdoors and just ideas about life. I haven’t acted on the ideas as much as you have, but I am a kind of back yard outdoorsman. Loved this video!

Eric, I have watched a few of your videos and I have a suggestion for you. I noticed in your most recent video the thermometer on your stovepipe. This may not be a good idea. Years ago a gentlemen working on my wood stove informed me that the heat can ruin a magnet, causing it to drop to the floor. If it is hot it could cause a fire. I placed my magnet on the top of my stove. That way gravity also holds it in place. Just an FYI. Keep up the good work. BTW, I have had good luck with Morakniv knives. They are great knives for the money. Peace out!

Great video! You should definitely do more of these style vids! Since the outdoors is one of your passions maybe some vids of overnighters in the woods, shelter builds, or campfire cooking would add some content variety.

Congratulations on being gifted the knife. It looks awesome. I love your dog. I like how as soon as you sounded distressed he stopped and jerked his head around. He was not going to lose his human! I can't imagine starting a fire in that much snow. Heck, I've never seen that much snow. Good video and thanks for sharing. ~Sherrie in South Carolina

Great job on the fire 🔥 Eric!! LT makes some of the best mass produced and custom knives out there in my opinion. I own three..the Jessmuk, the Bushcrafter and my favorite The GNS. There heat treating is some of the best in the business. Add to the fact that there’re made in the good ole USA 🇺🇸, I feel it’s a win win. Thanks for the video and God Bless on a fire made well done. ATB Mike!!

Awesome knife Eric. One thing to also remember when out in the woods don't start your fire under trees especially pine trees. If the wind blows it may knock snow from the trees on the fire and put it out on ya. Love the video! Thanks

Whenever I see "Limited Edition" I know immediately the price is going to be inflated. So, wasn't surprised when I checked the price. If I was a knife collector, perhaps I'd pay the price. But, for a tool in the woods, I'll stick to my custom made knife that cost a whole lot less. Clearly they don't intend this to be an item they sell all the time if it is truly a limited edition. It is a nice looking knife though. I'll give it that. :)
