Joel, I worked successfully with you in a program in Chicago many years ago. Then I started smoking cigars like cigarettes 2.5 years ago out here in Seattle and am so happy to find you online! There is no one like you out there, and the world owes you thanks for your ongoing hard work and inspiration. I'm on Day Two of the quit and counting! THIS TIME: i'll NTAP!

This message is to thank you for your commitment to providing this material to people who can benefit from it. Especially without available local support groups, these videos provide a much-needed distraction in the early stages of withdrawal.

Glad to hear it Margaret. Some people feel good from the get go, never really experiencing much of a withdrawal. The only reason they may have put off quitting for a long time is how bad they thought it was going to be. Then it may turn out not to be bad at all. Day 2 in full effect. Thanks for the video. Friendly tip: use the quit to catch up on exercise missed during your smoking days. Feels like having new set of lungs plus the endorphins make me forget the nicotine crave.

THANK YOU for these videos. I just discovered them and I'm already into this quit by 30 hours, so on day 2. Trying to play catchup on the videos and they're extremely helpful. I've said at work time and again, "Instead of paying for Chantix for us to quit, can't you pay for us to go to therapy instead?" THIS is my therapy. Again, Thank You!

@@joelspitz I just love your advice and guiding people to a better time in there lives- Smoking can be overcome with support and determination-
@joelspitz5 жыл бұрын
Yes support can help but in reality, even people without support can often pull off successful quits. I mention this for I don't want people who do not find such support to ever feel that quitting is beyond their abilities. Here are a few pages addressing this issue: whyquit.com/joels-videos/my-support-group-is-responsible/ whyquit.com/joels-videos/are-people-doomed-to-fail-if-they-dont-get-professional-help-to-quit-smoking/ whyquit.com/joels-videos/breaking-free-from-nicotines-grip-is-more-doable-than-most-people-think/ whyquit.com/joels-videos/quitting-smoking-can-be-a-very-lonely-experience/ whyquit.com/joels-videos/i-liked-my-other-support-group-more/ whyquit.com/joels-videos/the-pitfalls-of-forming-a-buddy-system-to-quit-smoking/ whyquit.com/joels-videos/i-couldnt-have-done-it-without-you/ Determination on the other hand is quite an important factor for insuring success. I consider another name for determination to be commitment. The following page address that issue: whyquit.com/joels-videos/a-99-9-commitment-to-quit-smoking-will-fail/

Hey Joeli admit I feel like crap got some cranberry juice the headache is killing me..
@joelspitz4 жыл бұрын
Hello Deborah: Here are a few pages that relate to how common headaches can be during the first 72 hours of a quit: whyquit.com/joels-videos/minimizing-the-most-common-side-effects-to-quitting-smoking/ whyquit.com/joels-videos/why-i-recommend-cranberry-juice-when-first-quitting-smoking/ whyquit.com/joels-videos/the-importance-of-the-first-three-days-of-your-quit/ Keep in mind, if the headache you are having is simply from quitting smoking it will generally be better once getting past the 72 hour mark and possibly sooner. The page whyquit.com/joels-videos/quitting-smoking-a-fate-worse-than-death/ addresses how while the symptom is annoying it is really a short term reaction and will help you avoid a lot more suffering throughout your life. As I said here if the symptom is simply from nicotine withdrawal it will improve soon. Being that there are other problems that can cause headaches, if you feel as if the headaches are literally "killing you" as you say, check in with your doctor. The page whyquit.com/joels-videos/is-anyone-else-experiencing-the-symptom-of/ has a number of resources attached highlighting the fact that while nicotine withdrawal causes many symptoms people can experience after stopping smoking, it is not responsible for all symptoms people have after they have quit. Life goes on without smoking and other variables may be at play. The pages whyquit.com/joels-videos/life-goes-on-without-smoking/ and whyquit.com/joels-videos/when-you-may-really-need-to-talk-to-your-doctor-about-quitting-smoking/ highlight this issue. Keep in mind, you truly are truly fighting for your health and for your life by quitting and its worth all of the effort that you are putting into it. Congratulations on getting through your first day. Hope you find all of the resources here helpful. Joel
