Starting my Final Year of Vet School . . . let's talk about it

Hey guys! Its been a while, and I thought I would sit down and talk to you all about what my life is like at the moment. I've been super busy - moved house, exams and starting my last year of veterinary school! It's pretty crazy so I thought I'd tell you all about how I'm feeling and what I'm expecting. Congrats to getting to 5th yr! Well done! I've just finished my 4th yr of vet school in Aus. It's called hell year, as it's our very last year of theory (lots of content and assessment). I'm about to embark in my 5th yr (clinical year) in 2022 (start on the 3rd of Jan). Good luck in your studies. 😊

Im currently in 3rd year and ill tell you...I feel so burned out x) but gonna miss being a student a ton! Just the lifestyle really. But excited to start that career!

I just finished first year at Melb Uni! Second year is notoriously the worst year at melb just because of the amount of content! Do you have any tips for staying on top of studies while still maintaining a social/outside of study life?😂 I’ve already done an undergrad science degree so definitely feeling burnt out already🥵🥵

Hey! We don't have a wildlife option in NZ as a sole track, but you can pick your OWN's placements to be all wildlife if thats something youre interested in

I want to be a veterinarian one day. I want to take care of dogs and cats. I want to help them by giving them vaccinations, giving medications to heal a pet (for example if a cat has an upper respiratory infection problem I can give them medication and it’ll heal them.) and etc. I searched online and it said you need to get a bachelors degree in a 4 year college and after that you can apply for vet school. It says vet school takes 4 years to get your DVM. After you graduated high school did you go to a college to get a bachelors degree or did you go straight to vet school? Do you need to get a bachelors degree? I’m confused and unsure what to do to start after graduating high school. I live in NC.

Hi Roseah! I live in New Zealand - so here we do a 5 year undergraduate degree to become vets, but I've heard in the US you do need to do 4 years undergrad and then 4 years post-grad. I hope this helps x
