I’m fully functioning, at the moment, but love your take on “disabled gardening”! This past 12 months I’ve had three separate issues that kept me from being able to get in my garden for about two months each time. We do what we can with what we have and make it work, just as you are doing. 😊 Loved this take on presprouting, can wait to see how they grow!

Believe me, I have often thought that I should start a channel for disabled gardeners! I have had so many things happen where I was not able to garden because of back pain, or knee pain, or whatever. It was so frustrating. I found a wonderful book called "The Abled Gardener," and got several ideas from that. You really have to get creative when you are not able to bend or twist, kneel, or lift, etc. You are doing a great job, but be sure the rest that foot. Don't you need to keep it elevated? At least you know that in a few weeks you will be putting all of this behind you, and will be able to get out into your garden. Hugs! 🥰💐

Video idea 💡: Segments on gardening with physical disabilities. Perhaps there are some gardeners in our sweet community who would join you in a zoom type or submission video(s). When you mentioned “this is how you do it with a disability”, I wanted to post another comment 😊. Get well prayers still pointing towards you 🙏🙏🙏. Thank you Jason and girls for showing so much love and taking up the chores that mom can’t do right now. ❤❤❤

As you write & video in your Garden Journal, you are sharing a beautiful testimony of Love🧡 I grew Cosmos from seed this year and cant imagine life without them now! I cut them before our freeze, and the sweet fragrance filled our home. ••Amazon has 8’ strip led lights to transform the lighting inside of your metal shop very inexpensively. It would be like a showroom with no shadows. We hardwired ours but they can plug in to a socket.

Living in zone 5a, southern Wisconsin and I use a similar method. I soak my ranunculus and anemones in February. I put them into a flat of moist soil in the cool basement in a dark area. I monitor daily to make sure the soil is moist but not too moist. I pot them up as they sprout into a 32 or 48 cell flat and put them under grow lights located in the basement where it is cooler. I prepare the outside spot in the fall so that it is ready in March to plant. I put Espoma Land and Sea compost down in the spring and plant because the ground is still frozen. I have hoops and cover. The beauty of ranunculus and anemones is worth it!

I always grow my renuccious and anonymous impots because our springs are so rainy that it's just easier. But I'm actually gonna grow them this winter in my greenhouse just to have some flowers. Disabled gardening, I love it! The first thought I had Janey when Jason put the trays on the ground by the deck is that the squirrel that goes under the deck might try digging in the trays that you just planted. HI, Janey: Good to see you are making do the best you can and getting around a little, finding small projects like today help satisfy your love of gardening while you recuperate! Now that you have a little down time, it would be a perfect time to plan the projects for your home, such as the kitchen lighting. What other lighting/electrical needs to get done, and how can you bundle those projects together and get an electrician to come over and take care of them all at once? It would be a nice time to do some shopping on-line to find a new kitchen light!!! Didn't you also indicate you wanted an outside light on your office, and replace the one on the garage too? Just a thought!! Hope you are feeling better each day.

Hi, I remember you wanted ideas for videos for while you recover. I would love to have a system to keep not only my seeds but my annuals and preannuals documented in an easy format. I'm not an organized person. I made a big mistake and didn't read the back of my packages. Then the tags I used washed out. Sharpies don't work. So if you can come up with a well organized system that maybe can be printed that has dates and whatever one needs to remember. Like how tall they get and the sun they like etc. :) I hope your recovery is going well. I have many more ideas too. :)

Thanks Janey. I might just try this process for Ranunculus, I’ve never ever been able to successfully grow them, something always happens. This will be my last attempt at growing them for sure. They’re beautiful flowers and I envy anyone that can grow them successfully in a cold climate zone 6a. Getting around my house when I had a similar surgery years ago was quite comical, I didn’t have a scooter so it was either crutches or crawl 🤣 I did crawl a lot because I hated the crutches. I was much younger and stronger back then and I could easily pull myself up out of a crawl. Now if I get down on my knees there’s no telling if I’ll ever be able to get back up.😂 Get better soon. 🦃🍁🍂💚🙃

Hi Janie. Sorry about your injury and current predicament. 😢 Just wanting to clarify about the ranunculus … I live in zone 8b (south-central Texas) and we do get freezes here. Usually not colder than about 25 degrees but the past couple of years we had a humdinger freeze each year. Last year was my first year growing ranunculus and when the big freeze was coming I layered some really bad straw over the foliage that had already started growing, and then I laid a frost blanket over the straw. We got down to around 12 degrees and my ranunculus made it. Other, less dramatic freezes occurred as well, but I didn’t cover or protect them for those events and they did well. I think they are hardy to around 25-28 degrees?? Not exactly sure, but I wanted to share my experience with your viewers in case there are others in the warmer zones that still get freezing temps in the winter. I hope you heal up well and are back on your feet asap. Hugs!
